  • A short weathering video of my Spitfire using Florymodels Dark Dirt wash.
I’m quite happy with the result and have remarked my score, I’m going with a 10/10 because I think it’s an excellent product.
It does a good job of picking up recessed detail and is easy to clean off. Recommended.
More videos of the Spitfire to follow.

Nice video. I have been using Flory Model washes for a couple of years now and I’m quite happy with them. I usually do a first wipe with a dry paper towel or cloth. It requires some elbow grease but it leaves a nice weathering patina. Where too much is present for my liking I remove this excess with slight (very slightly) damp pieve or paper or even a cotton bud for smaller areas. With some practice you can come with great results not unlikely an oil wash (the product is a suspension of fine clays in water).
    I subscribed.

Just bumped into your channel due to this review - your models look absolutely incredible going through your upload list! You sound like you're from the North East too?
Superb that you have found this product, it is a really good way of laying down the first layer of weathering onto your model and then building up layers on top of it - such as oils as you mentioned which work really well when they blend into the clay!
A little tip too: decant some of the wash into a separate dish so that you pick up more of the pigment which sinks to the bottom - otherwise you only pick up the foamy bits at the top and it doesn't quite have the same coverage!

Thanks for you comments, yes I live in the North East and I’m going to try to post more videos of better quality and try to add a bit of humour and do something a little different.
Yes, the wash does settle to the bottom and I’m using an old brush to stir and drag up some of the pigment. A decent product with useful applications.
If you look at my instagram account you will see loads more images of my models if that is if interest. 👍

In other videos where this product was used, I seem to recall they were wiped off using a rag or paper towel but without dampening the towel (in other words - dry). It seemed to be a bit harder to remove (which makes sense) but it also left a noticeably darker tone to the underlying color. Perhaps this darker tone was because the surface was matte instead of glossy. It's worth experimenting on to test this further. I've been considering ordering this anyway to try it out. Probably just another tool in the palette.
