    I think you are being harsh on yourself, you've done a cracking job, especially when this was one of those kits that fights back (some just do that don't they). Glad you used the Matchbox decals, I rememder them well! 😊

  • @doczoff5655

    Fantastic results on this venerable old kit, really well done!! I remember these kits at 35p, I got 50p a week pocket money so one week I bought one kit then every other week I bought two kits IF I'd been good and helped Mum around the house to earn the extra 5p. I remember making this Lysie, but I think I left it in the two tone plastic with no decals (decals never stayed on bare plastic). Thanks for the good tip re thinning Citadel shades with water for better capillary action. I'll return the favour with a tip that you can turn any Citadel colour (and probably any acrylic paint) into a shade using Citadel Lahmian Medium. Being a medium you can mix it with tiny amounts of colour to make virtually transparent shades (the same level of dilution with water would completely break down the paint structure). Lahmian Medium's viscosity makes it act more like a filter than a wash in that it doesn't collect in panel lines etc. though the same 'add water for better capillary action' tip also works here. Being able to make a really subtle filter in any colour is a game changer for those times when you've painted a model but the shade is 'just not quite right', you can put thin coats of almost transparent colour over the top until the shade is spot on! And those tall Citadel shades pots are a devil for tipping over and spilling everywhere... wrap some aluminium foil around the shade pot a squish it into a tight collar around the base of the pot. No more spills 😊

    Blimey but this bought back memories! I bought this bagged kit new from the local news agent in the early seventies, probably with Birthday money. I don't remember much beyond being really proud that I finished it, to my novice eyes anything that was still in one piece at the end of the build process was a triumph! I probably used way too much tube glue so small parts would've melted by the next morning (so many props just softened and dropped off in those days) but for a brief moment it was 'perfect'. The great thing about nostalgia is that I've forgotten all the failures, mistakes and frustration, and that four out of every five kits probably ended up in the bin... I just remember the happy times, and this little kit was one of them. Thank you for reminding me!

    The Boomerang was a single seat fighter derived from the 2 Seat Wirraway trainer built by CAC (1939), the idea being to make use of as many components from the Wirraway as possible to expedite its manufacture, the first one of 250 coming off the production line in May 1942.

    I alway find it amazing just how good some of these vintage models come out using modern materials and techniques. It's hard to believe they are +/- 50 years old. It's a pity they are so hard to find and not more readily available. Thanks for sharing a blast from the past. Makes me regret cleaning out my hord of many of these older kits that are muck more simpler to build than any of the multi version, ultra detailed modern toolings. Ahhhh! simpler and more innocent days.

    Why does’nt Revell AG keep the former Matchbox military kits available on a continual basis? Obviously there is interest in this line currently as evidenced by all these videos centered on them. I wish I had paid more attention to them when they were initially available. Their variety of subject matter was most diverse. 7:29

      @creativetimewasting 16 дней назад

      @@William-l7z I think the moulds are starting to show their age, the last batch Revell produced did not have the figures included. I think this type of range is just waiting for a manufacturer to pick it up, I would live Airfix to start doing their own range in 1/72 scale. I think some nice new AFVs on dioramas would be a good mine for them.

    Speaking ME-62 and a B-17. Well, I served in the Marine Corps I crewed the CH-46 Sea-knight. We took a veteran for a flight who was a retired colonel during World War II. He flew the B-17 and he told me that he was one of the first to encounter the ME262. They were flying over Germany and all of a sudden, his cockpit exploded and he saw the flash of the jet fly past that hit him from the bottom. They watched it curve around and then come back toward the squadron and hit another B-17 on its way down. I will always remember that.

    Good outcome, my attempt was a disaster. There were fit issues with the camera transparencies and the wing to fuselage joins. Once they had been rectified, I primed it, sprayed the PRU blue and decided to paint the invasion stripes. Despite using Tamiya tape to mask the stripes, when I removed them, all the paint and primer came off. The kit had been washed before painting and both primer and paint had been given plenty of time to dry, it was a little annoying.
