I look forward to your videos, you have lit my enthusiasm for modelling again after a good 40 years, love the matchbox vids especially the ones with dioramas, cheers
gladiator was my first matchbox kit. I was 15 then. I remember buying humbrol silver and humbrol tube cement with the kit. I still have one untouched one in my stash. yours turned out to be beautiful.
Gladiators in the pre-war silver dope finish with the individual squadron colours were, in my opinion, always the most attractive. Great job, once again 👍
Nice little aircraft I built one in BoB camo..I saw one in the Malta war museum Faith, Hope and Charity 3 of them defended the island before the Spits turned up....👍👍
I just did an inventory of my stash…….over the years I have accumulated 10 of the little beasties in 1/72 scale by various manufacturers. The Gladiator is probably my favorite AC…..my second fav is the Fiat CR-42. I want to do a super detailed build of Faith, Hope, or Charity…..Cheers
I've built the Airfix, Heller and Hobby Boss kits, and each was an okay kit. I haven't found the Matchbox kit yet, as they are rare as frog's hair here in Florida, USA.
I have always found that the Games Workshop colour 'Mithril Silver' was a really good match for the aluminised silver dope used in the interwar years by the RAF.
@ it would go nicely with the Lysander to be honest there are other companies who do a 1/48 Gladi Roden but the fit is awful I tired to build the Sea Gladi but I binned it and also I Love Kit do one but haven’t built it so I can’t comment
Beautiful model and nice build. The only problem I have with biplanes is that without rigging they look a little bit unfinished to me. Rigging in 1:72 scale is really painful but worth the effort in my opinion. Thanks for sharing the video.
Shame about the Alclad mishap; it's difficult to keep track of how everything works or affects everything else with so many products on the market these days. She looks good though..... Nice one 👍🏻👏🏻👌🏻
It was my mistake which I have made in the past. A simple clean off of the dust would have saved a lot of time and would have kept my enthusiasm for the build going.
Love watching your channel….down to earth modelling…..on your paint issues….i,m a retired spray painter….a little help….if you paint sides first ,then when the overspray settles on the top surfaces you can removes gently with things called ,tack rags…..they can be used carefully on any painted surface though…..we would use them for base coat overspray which produced a similar problem . Hope this helps a little.
@@nigelconnor6960 it was originally moulded in two greys, light and dark. The model is the video has already been primed in grey primer ready for painting.
Just found your channel. Like lots of others I am returning after a 50yrs break. Enjoying your output.

What a great looking kit this is. I’ll retrieve my 1972 first edition from the stash and build it just to stir up Peter.😊

Absolutely lovely! The first Matchbox kit i built when they arrived in Woolworths here in Australia in 1973? 😊

👍
Good wee kit, nice work
Super job and I think that I have one of these in the stash somewhere, I may hunt it out and build it, don't tell Peter. lol, cheers.

I actually have this kit in a first edition version box with lid:-)
I enjoyed your video and I`m going to try that Leadbelcher paint.
I NEED more Matchbox kits...BADLY

There metallic/metal paints are excellent.
I am sorry but Airfix haven’t realised a 1/48 scale gladiator I wish they had though
You are correct, I thought I had seen one released a couple of years ago but it must have been their 1/72 version.

Yes that released a couple of new tooled variants @@creativetimewasting
Even the Luftwaffe used captured Gladiators as a training glider tug

Revel....🤔 wondered why it wasn't in two colours!

Great perseverance shame you didn’t do the rigging
I lost a bit of enthusiasm for the build but it is sitting on my shelf looking at me so it may make a reappearance later this year. 👍
