Cheap V-8 Turbo Build! LS-Turbo

- In this episode of Hot Rod Garage presented by Lincoln Tech, we take our low-buck drag project, #bonemaro, upgrade the engine for boost, and build a turbo system using the best ebay has to offer! Using a CX racing turbo kit designed for a truck, some parts from Craigslist, and a ton of elbow grease, Tony and Lucky work to get the Camaro boosted and ready for action. Once on the dyno, the #bonemaro makes over more than 500WHP 500 hp on mild boost, -- more than enough to propel this thing to some wicked fast times on the track!

Really cool how they helped that kid.
I want to see more of that house call stuff. Not just them helping out other motor heads, but educating the youth.
if they could incorporate lincoln tech tips by doing housecalls and teaching while they advertise, that'd be a great way to seamlessly transition the ads with content in a way that doesnt seem fake or too corporate
That's such a great idea.
Id like to see more of that.
Yeah, but Tony looked like he couldn't wait to get out near the end, especially during that test drive and everything after. That "alright bud" sounded rough, lol.
Shout out to that 7yr old Chinese kid who stepped his turbo kit game up...
lol
You're the MVP
when is Ford going to get it thanks for Designing the LS motor

Say what!!??!! Please explain!!
helping out the kid was the best part!
Dude all the hot rod magazine guys are super nice! that was dope when they helped that kid get his truck goin
Yea I thought that was cool! 👍
+king_crimson yeah good blokes for sure.
that was awsome the kid looked so happy when it ran
I agree. A couple years ago I met Freiburger and Finnegan at a Roadkill event. Talked to them for a bit, and toured a speed shop with them in our group. Those two and the rest of the hot rod guys all seem to be very down to earth.
Best part of this episode, and all it took was a carb kit! Nice job Tony and Lucky!
that was awesome of you guys to help that kid out
That was really great that you guys went round and helped that kid out, everyone has to start somewhere and every little helps
I almost teared up about that interlude with the kid and the truck. Way to go guys. That was fantastic.
+Tyvole My girl just happened to be making me an onion sandwich during that part of the show.. so got to keep my man card..
Resurrecting old V8's is one of the few things where men are allowed to weep.
I remember when I was this kid's age and I helped my neighbor install and break-in a huge cam in his 289 64 1/2 Mustang, open header style, 9pm at night. The neighbors were pissed but I'll never forget that night =)
MrJamesonStyles turbo complete kits for small block Chevrolet stock motor
Love how you guys went and gave the kid a hand with his truck! Love iT!
Get that kid in the shop ASAP, or even better lets get him into Lincoln Tech!
yes.
Helping the kid out was one of the best things I've seen on RUclips. Job well done gentlemen!!! Send him to Lincoln Tech, or setup something up were we can give to offset the cost as well!!!!
Kickstart??
Agreed!!!
+Stingray yeah man, that's super cool of those guys.
That's so cool you guys went out and helped that kid out.
Good job on helping the kid with his truck! Sweet!
YEAH I REALLY LIKED THAT PART TOO ALOT
That was awesome you guys went and checked that kid out!
+Edward Thayer I agree, hate to say it but I never liked the host too much (Lucky has always rocked), but I definitely have a newfound respect for him. Keep up the good work guys, and give that kid a job sweeping up or something.
@@Groupthing71 m
Im soo happy you guys helped that kid, he does really like cars and you can see it on him :D
I'm not gonna lie them helping the kid out got me a little teary eyed. That's one of my favorite things in the automotive world is people willing to help and teach others.
Love the house call; it should be a regular feature. Lucky's suggestion was brilliant; here's your home work and it must be recorded. Oh, and #luckyrocks
You guys are seriously awesome for helping out Steven with that truck. Family heirlooms are so much more than just a vehicle, they're a vessel to memories of days gone by. It's heartwarming to see you take the time to get his carb rebuilt and back in running order. I'm sure he'll remember this for a long time!
I love how you helped the kid out with his grandpa's truck.
the camaro is secondary. goin out to that kid's house was awesome. keep up the good work, show's getting better all the time.
dude!
helping out that kid was really something nice to see.
You guys are awesome for helping that kid. I have a new level of respect
I agree
I know, that was awesome of them to do that.
Helping out that kid was the coolest thing you've ever done on this show. Way to be, guys.
Helping that kid was a stand up deal, not alot of ppl would have done that. Getting kids involved is the only way this craziness we all love has a chance of staying around. Hope he uses this to his advantage and stays working on that truck.
If everyone was a hot rodder the world would be a better place. That was cool for you to help that kid.
It would sure be a hotter place
Great show! Helping the kid out was cool
Love the fact Lucky has become a permenant fixture! good job for listening to your fans! :D love it.
+Rich Yeah, I felt that Tony on his own was missing something - now he's got someone to banter with, it all seems more natural. Lucky works well as a co-presenter, it's saved HRG in my opinion, it was lacking something when Tony was on his own.
+Anton Taylor Also, Tony didn't seem comfortable in front of the camera for the first few episodes, but he's a lot more relaxed now.
+Anton Taylor Yeah Lucky is awesome and they really do complement each other.
+Sideslip Yes, good point. I think he's finding his stride. I think having a buddy there to banter with helped him relax and be a more natural presenter. He's not wooden anymore (although he still looks a bit uncomfortable doing the Lincoln Tech Tip).
I was starting to lose interest, if I'm honest, because I thought he was a poor presenter - but now he's becoming fun to watch, like other MT hosts.
incredible work on this episode, i really like where its headed for obvious reasons, taking the time to help out that kid was amazing, giving back to people who could never repay you is one of the most gratifying things you could do. I really really enjoy the show and this takes it to the next level, if you are ever anywhere near the north east, and you guys need anything please let me know.
obviously its not record breaking, and people will certainly say they could do it cheaper, but you are the only ones coming close to keeping an actual budget and being realistic, keep up the excellent work.
+Sloppy Mechanics Funny seeing you here. Thought of you when I saw this in my feed.
+Sloppy Mechanics Yo buddy, thanks for the kind words. I actually credited Sloppy mechanics with the info on the injectors and the spacers etc, but it didn't make the edit (out of our hands). Your site is awesome, and we definitely used it as a guide.
Whats up Matt? I see you're slumming the commercial channels as well! 😅
I almost teared up about that interlude with the kid and the truck. Way to go guys. That was fantastic.
Love the house call.
The burnout made me smile.
Was my favorite part as well.
What a cool kid, his ancestors are smiling down on him. Super cool the guys stopped by to help him with tuning up that badass 60s truck I woulda killed for in my teens. It really reminded me of my dad's rig, which was a 50s chevy panel truck. I was prevented from ever having the chance to drive that rig because he committed suicide in it when I was 2. Happy trails to that kid, he'll have the coolest truck in high school, just hope nobody lifts it.
"The 7 year olds who build these have really stepped their game up!" Haha!
Really cool helping that kid out, nice work!
Way to go guys, helping out with the 14 year old, you guy's ROCK
I want to help people now
Going out to that young man’s house to help him, showed a lot of Character!! Well Done Gentlemen!!
how to make a grown petrol head tear up, 15:00 you guys are awesome! just AWESOME!!
What an incredible thing they did for the young fella!!
I like these two working together!!
+Ian Geer I liked that they didn't do all of it for him, leaving him some homework for him to do in his own time and learn.
I think I have commented on a total of 2, maybe 3 youtube videos in my life. I just thought it to be important to comment on this one. Thank you for spending the time to teach our youth this trade. With out them this great thing that we all hold onto will go away in time.
i didn't like this show when ole frieburger left, but, tony and lucky kick ass, and that segment with the kid was awesome...11/10
Thanks For watchin.
"Show you how to do a burnout" Awesome, love it. I'm sure the kid enjoyed your knowledge and help getting his truck running right.
Best show on RUclips. Helping that kid was awesome!
"the seven year olds that build these things over in China have really stepped their game up." Fucking quote of the century hahaha
Marshall Kell they can't afford toy cars so they get a job in the factories to play with the real thing.
Allen McKinney hahahahhahahahaha!
"I'll Show Ya How To Do A BurnOut " Classic Thumbs up^
What you guys did for that kid is the best thing I seen on RUclips.
+todd baker Completely agree.
No joke that was the coolest thing you could've done for that kid. You guys are cool as hell. Props to you HRG
Made that kids whole life, I'd shit myself if Tony and Lucky showed up to my house.
Helping Steve out with his grandfather's truck was evermore cool!!! Way to go guys.
Really liked the housecall, really nice of you guys.
our hats are off for our nephew Stephen. uncle Jimmy and I are very proud of you. we know that papa and uncle would be extremely proud too. love you bubbs.
thank u guys 4 the support love u
It was really cool that you guys helped out that kid with his heirloom truck.
+Willy Lamb-Orgel Right? I liked that dude instantly. If you read this, young pick-up-truck-owner: Stay polite, stay classy!
These guys are amazing!!! Helping that kid out was by far one of the coolest things I've ever seen on youtube.
Great episode, and that was super cool of you guys to help the kid out with his truck. Mad respect to you guys.
That little side segment helping that little kid out was a nice touch
You guys are the best! Helping out Steve was really a great thing! Keep teaching kids like this will keep our hobby going.
That was really neat helping that kid.
Barnekkid He well be Lucky Custa of the future 🙃. Hopefully
I started watching Hot Rod Garage for the cars but I am really enjoying Tony and Lucky's antics.
"The 7 year olds in that build these things in China are stepping their game up"
That was a pathetic comment by Tony.
I laughed so hard don't be butthurt man
hothothotmale Hey guy I would like for u check out my 71 Buick Skylark I live in La bye the coliseum
You guys made that kid's day probably his weem or month. You guys are awesome!
Helping that kid out was the greatest thing ive seen in a long time.
I love the slightly annoyed `Alright Bud!`. When the kid said ``èver need a hand around the shop`. lol
Seems like a good kid. That was really cool of u guys!
If I knew nothing more about Tony and Lucky, what they did for that kid shows me the type of people they are. Respect.
Fellas, this is what hot rodding is all about....what a cool way to help a kid out.....you've probably inspired the next major engine builder for 2025! :-)
Well, for 2023 anyway and my 80 camaro :)
very cool helping that kid out who's ever idea that was good stuff
Ok. Helping the young fan was definitely the best part of the episode!!! Way to encourage and teach the next generation of rodders!!!
Each episode gets better, and better!
This really is a cool show. The hosts are a good match. Everything is explained well. The process of building something is not hidden like with many other shows on tv. The hosts ACTUALLY build stuff.
Also really cool that you helped that kid out guys. That was awesome.
Couldn't agree more! This is why this show and roadkill will always be better then the crap they have on TV. This is actually about cars. Not scripted drama. TV people seem to think people who are into cars are into soap operas. For shame.
This show was kicking ass with just Tony as the host, now that Lucky is on it with him it *really* kicks ass! You guys are awesome!
Well you got this old grandfather of four right in the heart by helping that kid... you ROCK!
you guys helping that kid might have changed his life forever..those blessings will come back to you guys!!! props to you
So Nice to see you both, when helping this guy on his truck!!!
Respect.
Another good show and it was nice of you to help that kid. Good work.
Fixing up the kid's truck is super cool. Kudos.
The segment with the visit to the kid is fantastic. How many hot rod guys learned the basics of what they know from family and friends in their driveways? I'd wager almost all of them. That scene is about the soul of hot rodding and DIY wrench turning. Unexpected and awesome, well done gentlemen.
dudes, helping that kid was so MINT! gave me chills. thank you!
I love how you guys find us cheap parts and say what they come off
The best part of this video was you guys taking the time out of your day to help that young man get that c10 running well again! Really cool to watch, keep the younger generation working with their hands!
Helping that kid was the coolest thing I've ever seen you guys do!
That should be a whole series of its' own!
You guys helping out that kid was awesome.
You've should've just done what Finnegan did - cut a hole in the hood and route the exhaust up thru it.
haha
+opl500 yeah thats finnegan not lucky or tony (i would of done the same tho)
+opl500 Looks like it atleast has a screamer pipe for the wastegate
Isn't that hard to do with a truck motor?
+JKU lab.. meh all a truck motor means is more weight in the front so some beefier spring will take care of that problem as long as it's a 4 bolt main it'll work in a older chevy.. i had 400bbc 4 bolt and put it in a 86 camaro 6 cylinder lol just had to put some z28 parts on and a set of cut truck springs on the struts ...i want to use a marine block for when i build my new one.. they are made to run at 6-7k rpm for long periods of time good bottom end strength for turbos or a blower lol...
What you guys did for that kid and his truck....awesome. You just made his entire life with something that's so simple for you. Kudos guys
ok, you guys always entertained me. But when you helped out that young fella with his gran daddy's chevy, it really was a 1st class deed. good job, you really are doing good work. Made a young muscle head a life'r in the car world
Totally hire that kid. Document his progress as he learns the trade.
This show is warming up fast, great two guys hosting, great subject matter-old junkers made fun in a realistic price range. Excellent work. Starting to get close to making a run at RoadKill quality level.
+Motor Trend Channel; That is probably the best thing that has been accomplished on all of the shows!! Glad you guys were able to help out that kid! Way to keep a look out for young gear heads and keeping them interested! This gives hope for future generations!
you guys are awsome for helping that kid!!! im a fan for life now!!!
I feel like this show just gets better and better.
+robert lemere Really dig this show, Lucky is a character haha.
Loving this, Hot Rod Garage is really finding its feet. Great combo with Tony and Lucky. Thanks!
Good job helping that kid out, that was pretty cool.
Helping that kid out was one of the best things Ive seen on this channel- good job
awesome video! its cool yall helped the kid out with his c10
Pretty damn cool helping that kid out guys! That is the future of our hobby right there.
Mad respect for showing up to a fans house and helping him out.
Want cheap power? Stick an LS in it. Already have an LS in it? Turbo the fuck out of it.
Yes.....
+EvangelionFan Exactly!
YOU sir have your priorities straight!
yup
+EvangelionFan Or just put a "real" motor in it, and be done with it -Coyote
What a awesome thing to do for that young man he will never forget that... And for the love of god please put some primer or flat black on that car.
just discovered this channel, you guys are awesome! that part where you just drive out to that kid was dope.
Thank you Obi Wan " THIS IS THE SHOW YOUR LOOKING FOR"
Love the house calls. Keep that up. Major props to you guys keeping the younger generation into it
You guys are making some GREAT hot rod garage shows now -- keep it up!!! :)
Serious respect for you guys for doing what you did with the truck and kid. Extremely cool of you.
Thanks Justin. He's a cool kid and didn't live to far away. I'm glad it worked out
Why do I love Freiburger's team? Because they're regular guys that could hang in your garage. Working on the young man's carb and having him do the work was what we all try to do. Way to keep hot rodding going into the next generation!
Just watched this episode. Usually watch Roadkill but decided to expand my viewing. Seeing what you guys did with that young man really helped reinforce my faith in humanity, which sadly after Baghdad, was wavering. Good job guys.
Awesome what you did for that kid ! He's gonna be fine.
was just now putting my head down to sleep and then came this. I can wait 30 more minutes
+felix masis Me too.
Same here lol
