I know man, other shows are like “oh yeah, you should be able to swap an AWD twin turbo LS drivetrain into your 1950 GMC in 3 days in your home garage,” meanwhile they have a two post lift, a plasma cutter, mig, tig, and stick welders, a CNC machine, presses, sheet metal brakes, a team of dudes, and a $50,000 pile o’ parts on a pallet on the floor. Definitely, super relatable. It’s super easy, all you have to do is order everything out of a catalog, gee why didn’t I think of that? I can’t even watch that kind of garbage anymore, I just end up getting pissed when the parts theyre throwing out in the dumpster are better than what I’m working with lol.

Also, always great to see another older guy banging the gears like the term is meant. (In my case these days) No lower left leg? Clutch pedal? STILL not a problem! Fumble the clutch for first and reverse, no need for it beyond those.

@10:39, there's a story in how that case cracked. looks like something was wedged between the countershaft teeth and the case. Zooming on those teeth reveals extreme wear? on the teeth themselves..It's also the side of the box that has the selector forks and a few grub screws. These gearboxes are usually very, very tough gearboxes. The primitive nature of the shifters whether hurst, oem etc makes them so much fun, mine has a home made shift handle comprising a 14 inch length of steel with a 5 inch wide piece of 1.5 diameter pipe as a gearknob on top of a hurst shifter.

Wow...that stroked 302 took those HARD over Rev to valve floats like a champ...if I remember correctly the 363 pistons have really short skirts and a lot of people stay away from them...if that's true the skirt length must not be super important in the 302 since theirs hasn't flipped a piston sideways in the bore...the way dulchich didn't react to those over rev's and calmly said that was valve float tells me he's done it to that motor many times and knew it probably would take it fine lol 🤣. I've always been curious what kind of numbers you could get from an aftermarket block stroker 363 before failure...I know that the stock blocks are a major weak point around 500 550 wheel torque...but always wondered what an aftermarket block with a good quality forged rotating assembly, good heads cam intake and boost could reach before failure...and if you are still reading and interested in such Ford things...there are some guys on RUclips turning 03-04 cobra heads into 5 cyl versions to bolt onto a V10 truck motor...they aren't there yet but have gotten pretty far and I can't wait to see the results... imagine a V10 04 cobra 4 valve with boost...

I really like those toploader transmissions. They aren't the absolute smoothest shifting I've ever used, but they are consistently good no matter what application I've seen them in and they don't seem to mind high RPM shifts either.

Wow, look at that transmission damage. I broke a Saginaw 4 speed down the middle once!
