- Anyone that knows me knows I'm a massive fan of Chris Ashton and his builds from Ruffian Cars. This is the 3rd build we've shot with Chris and truly one of the most exceptional purpose built vehicles I've ever experienced. Full race chassis, powered by a Shelby 526 cubic inch FE engine with a dogbox transmission and every single inch of this build is to have a semi streetable fully capable big track car so sit back and enjoy the ride...

I'm not a massive fan of Fords, I'm not a massive fan of the Galaxie. Having said that, this could be the best car i have ever seen.
Perfect! It really is a flawless build
Man, I love EVERYTHING about this car. He has great taste. What a smart, gifted dude man.
With you all the way here

Thanks for the kind words! 🙏

@@chrisashton7133 I just saw this reply! My pleasure!🙏🏽
I'm 71,my first car was a one owner,'64 500XL. It was a 2 door, white over red & red interior. It had the 390 4 barrel, auto, floor shifter & console. Big bucket seats & huge back seat/trunk! Bought in 1970. Loved that car. This car is insanely built, beautiful!❤
I’m 43
I’m 68 and my first car, purchased in 1973 was a mint one owner 1970 Mach 1. It was lime green metallic with white deluxe comfort weave interior and rear window slats. It had the base 351W 2bbl and an auto. It wasn’t very fast but it was a real looker! I loved that car.
You forgot to mention that it was more than likely affordable as hell lol
@kdsboosted4954 I don't know what dad payed for it. He got it at my friend's, dad's used car lot.
700 bhp NA...man what a monster
If you’re a car guy this is the best channel on RUclips.
Thank you for that!
Agreed!
100%
Agreed
It absolutely is! This is better than anything on MotorTrend.
I'm a simple man, I see a Galaxy racecar and I click like.
I have never noticed a 64 to be a race car. This thing trips me out. There may be a few 427 cars but they don't seem to be out there at all.
I was almost brought to tears. . . I'll make it short: My dad bought a 63' Wagon, Red..with a 6 cylinder that had a blown engine, the broken rod made a hole in the side of the block... the most anti-cool thing in the world in 1982, I was a senior in high school, and was embarrassed when my friends seen his project, he had bought a welder on a trailer, a behemoth of a monstrosity, he welded it up.. it friggin ran !.. I recall falling for the car when I had seen things like the hood latch, the emblem, amazing. He had made a few hundred bucks on his $50 purchase, I missed that car and bought a 64' Impala wagon, made a wooden console, always said it was lowered but it was stock, worn out and a piece of crap but I loved it, and have had numerous wagons since, currently a Volvo XC70, lowered, and gave my daughter, an 850, Blue with spoiler and chrome wheels, she hated, then loved, now an XC70 .. Love this video, thanks
Thanks for the comment here!
Car painter for 40 years. This paint job broke my brain. Awesome
He could have went with a digital camouflage like the Russian Fighter Jets.
Astounding what the paint shop did to bring his vision to life
It was a lot of fun!
Comedian Joey Diaz says “American cars scream America”….this does that 100%👍🏻
Hahahaha so true
Was this on the episode where the fellas were smelling salts?
@@KermitOfWar yup that’s the one haha
@@KermitOfWar Yes he was telling Joe Rogan about how American Muscle cars scream we’re Americans
All the way!!
This guy needs a much larger team. Just the ideas and the way they execute them. I see how he would be incredible at anything he puts his mind to. Living the dream and deserves every second of it!
Thank you. Would love to be able to add a few more to the team this year. Hopefully we can line up one or two client builds. 🤞
Not a galaxy guy and not really a ford guy, but this galaxy is probably one of the nicest built cars I've ever seen. Simply amazing
Thank you! This is the my personal favorite so far but we do have some other brand cars in the works. I love them all!
@@chrisashton7133 No problem!! Keep up the amazing work. Can't wait to see the next one
10000%
At 69 y.o., this is w/o a doubt, the coolest project I have ever seen in the media. If this car doesn't win every award available in the auto business it won't be bc it wasn't the best. In my 12th-grade history class with a seat that enabled me to look out at the street
the highlight of my day was to watch a forest green 64 Gaxlaxy with a teardrop bubble scoop growl down the road like a demon on wheels. It was my soon-to-be brother-in-law driving his older brother's Ford which he had recently purchased. To make it even better, he would slow to a near stop and tap the throttle on the enhanced 390 and it would look like the front wheels would lift off the ground. He was showing off and it was, to us car guys, heaven to watch. A 65 XL with bucket seats and a 4-speed console, 390 red over red was my first muscle car after I graduated college. Selling it was one of the mistakes I wish I could redo.
The B-roll footage in this video is incredible. Whoever is in charge of cinematography is awesome. They made sure to get clear concise footage of everything discussed in-detail. Give that guy a raise!
Thanks for noticing. Really proud of my crew on all their work
Best built car you've ever had on here. This guy is like a mad scientist 🤟
He’s a genius and a humble kind person. Glad to be friends with Chris
This dude is a mad scientist with cars, hes on level with the vicious mustang this car just lacks the interior but its not supposed to be fancy. Can't wait to see what they do next.
These ruffian guys are building beautiful race cars. Literally perfect.
The FE engine has made legends.
I am such a huge fan of that motor now.
my favorite FE has to be the 427 SOHC Cammer V8.
The little yellow accents on the car are an awesome touch. I love how the tow loop on the rear carries up into the "F" in FORD.
Easter egg - the tow hook makes a "U" so the back of the car quietly says "F U" as sort of a middle finger to expectations that a big car like this doesn't make sense on a race track! Imma do it anyway!
@@chrisashton7133 Ha, nice catch.
I'm by no means a car guy in the strictest sense but that car held my attention and put a huge smile on my face when it hit the road. Extremely cool and artistic build. And apparently super strong. Just wow. And working with the veteran race car builder.
That Galaxie is one of my favorite cars of all time ,ever.. of my time on this planet (37yrs) Super super badass, insanely well done, there’s not any words I could use to describe how great that that Galaxie is. Super F’n awesome 🤜🏼🤛🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼💨💯
Totally agree!
Dude! I literally just finished watching the GT 40 and Mustang video's and then this popped up in my sub feed. That's crazy timing. I love that he just watched RUclips videos and taught himself as he went building the Mustang. This guy is a mad scientist.
He is truly genius level imo
Chris "Shaggy" Ashton did an amazing job on this car. Congrats to him and everyone else involved in the build.
I don't mind this. 😆
@@chrisashton7133 Thanks man. It was meant as a compliment because the shag was cool and hip.
@@chrisashton7133man this is one amazing build. Every single little detail has a purpose and works amazing. Not only is it a functional piece of work, it is a beautiful piece of art.
I’m a car guy who is not mechanically gifted AT ALL, lol. I can only add or bolt on what others have made...Watching what Chris creates, in his mind first, then as it screams to life, has got to be what people must’ve felt when a master like Leonardo da Vinci was creating the art that he brought to life. I’m genuinely in awe (and jealous as hell) of such imagination, creativity and mechanical ability. Kudos bro, your rides are amazing
Ruffian builds street machines that I fall in love with every time I see them. One of the hottest builders of my time, for sure
That 500 is of a Galaxy purely of it's own.
This is my favorite AutotopiaLA vehicle overview, thus far.
Chris' level of attention to this build and the quality of finish on the Galaxy is Top tier!
That ending slippery takeoff with the accompanying exhaust note was Purrrfect!
He’s an impressive guy and along with his crew builds vehicles that everyone is taking notice of
Shawn , i swear you could build a car that would smoke a SR 71 BLACKBIRD and somebody would have a baseless comment about paint choice or the air conditioning is too cold …LOL.. That galaxy is so awesome it makes me want to move to California just to listen…great video!!! 😮😂🏁🇺🇸
Couldn’t agree more. So many morons out there that don’t understand what they’re seeing. Glad you get it
You're 100% right. Ruffian is definitely the company to watch. I've appreciated so many builders over the years (I've been a gearhead over 50 years) but the first time I saw that Mustang I was blown away. Absolutely perfect cars... even if I'll never afford one. 😉
Thank you! I hope we get to keep doing our thing for as long as that can last.
Holy crap, this is really close to the build I've been dreaming of for the last few years. Mine would look more vintage and keep a bit more of an interior, but the whole basic concept of a Galaxie body on a custom race chassis with modern suspension etc., built to tear it up at the track and in the canyons, hits the nail on the head.
Hey, Shawn!
When I got the notification, I saw, 52 minutes! - Who’s got the time?
I’m glad I made the time.
Thanks a lot for sharing not only your experience of driving such machines but also for the spreading of the word thru the stories of regular people, just like you and I, that contains so much knowledge and truth.
I am digging the long format; the new 3D intro is “all right“.
Word to the wise: at 44m30s, your crew makes a right turn without a full stop.
Edit that off; it can be “incriminating”.
🤔👊🏽❤️🔥
Thanks for the comment. It had to be long because there’s so much to this build
What a video thumbnail! Scrolled past it and had to click
Awesome! It’s a spectacular build
A Prime example of True Passion! "The Force is strong in this one"! PHENOMINAL NO stone unturned creation man! Sounds like you skipped every one of them along the way.
BACK IN MY HIGH SCHOOL DAYS A COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS WENT IN TOGETHER TO BUY A 64 FORD GALAXY 500XL WITH A AUTO TRANS AND A GAS GUZZLING FORD 390CI ENGINE!
YOU MAY NOT CARE, BUT US FORD FANS DO!...SO I AM GLAD YOU KEPT A FORD ENGINE IN A FORD CAR!...I AM JUST SAYING!...GOD BLESS AMERICA! 😇
Swiss watch movement level detail in every element. Mind blowing
Thank you! Props to Shawn and his team for putting together a great video where we could share a lot of the details with everyone.
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!! What An Awesome Car !!!!!!!
I love that Chris is a Ford man. Ford has been the American icon that has been with us since Henry Ford himself. Henry Ford raced, then won, and founded FOMOCO
If I had an extra mil laying around… I’d have him build me one of these! Its awesome! Good job Chris!
I'd love to build another big car. So much fun!
I cant even describe how f ing insanely cool, fresh, retro, evil, amazing, custom, work of art, special, that car is. Look out world Ruffian Cars has arrived. Now if I could just find a pile of cash LMAO
I’m searching for that pile too lol!!
@@AutotopiaLA Dude. Love your vids. That Shelby and now the Fairlane were just loud brute force cars with awesome exhaust notes. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
What an Awesome car!! Great guy and so humble. Easy to listen to him explain the reasoning and rationale behind all the great features. One of your best videos yet. Great work!! Tim Australia.
In my honest opinion, I think the 64 Galaxie is on of the most beautiful cars ever made by any manufacturer
Chris's approach on what to do with your wealth and time after earning the wealth to own cars of this caliber is exactly how I would do it if I had the money... Built not bought
WOW!!! Come on man, this car is magnificent! Handmade this and bespoke that, the sheer brilliance of this car leaves me speechless. I love this channel dude. I can't wait to see his next car. I can't wait to see the next car on the channel. So very cool. Good for you bro.
Thank you! And this car blows me away on every level
Race Car First. This is the best episode, great quality crew! Chris walking us thru fabrication of the car and all of the knowledge, engineering and skill's needed to do this and how race car it is, different animal. Everything looked great. 7,000 hrs. Labor, wow. I'd like to see an episode with it on a racecourse where it belongs, the highway doesn't give it justice as to the full capabilities of this race car. We all had the same smiles on our faces that you guys had on the road. I just ordered the coffee table build book they have on website.
Race track footage will happen for sure!! That’s its purpose
HAD to watch this one again. This car blows my mind
This man's choice in cars, style and execution is so radical and refreshing. I am absolutely blown away by these automobiles. The build quality and the detail is nothing short of magnificent. Wow !
That car is perfect, I wouldn't change anything... perfection
Daaaang, that's awesome, thanks for the kind words! Love that!
Chris’ Galaxie is absolute perfection!
Thank you to the whole team at ATLA for doing a full build feature…def took production to next level!!! 🙌🏼. Really been excited to see this. I am constantly amazed at Chris’s meticulous concentration on every aspect of the full build…down to the smallest details. 👌🏼👌🏼.
Thank you and Chris and his team are the ones to watch imo
Chris.....love the FORD slant to the first cars. Keep em coming. Btw. TORINO........TORINO.........TORINO
I want to build a 68 Torino so bad!
Torino would be really cool to see from him
This guy is totally off the hook. I know there’s a lot of shops out there pumping out some amazing builds but you have to ask yourself how talented is the owner or did the owner just hire all the talent. Without a doubt this guy is elbows deep in each build. 👌🏽👌🏽
That's insane . That's a game changer people are going to start building the bigger body cars. Starliner next
I really hope so. I've been shopping big cars on Craigslist since my first drive in this thing!
Absolutely epic. In my opinion one of the best built cars to be on the show. And I'm a Chevy guy. I can see him getting better and better with his build. Love the paint design. Really suits the body style
Yeap! One of the best built cars to be on the show.
This is truly an epic build in every way possible
@@AutotopiaLA, Chris Ashton is a magician, and he managed to find his own, recognizable style. He's a pure enthusiast, passionate, we feel the love of what he does, he transmits this love, his cars really have character, I can't wait to see the next one. Best Mister Davis!
Truly heartfelt words. Thank you. To say this stuff is my passion is an understatement. I'm so glad the love comes through the builds. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@chrisashton7133 They are works of art mate. I could spend ages looking at all the small details. I wish I had 10% your talent.
Even the tiniest parts made by pure science. I'm down! This guy and the whole team are on lvl 999! Keep up the good work!💪
First time I had the pleasure of being in a “ yank job “ was a 60’s galaxy, 16 and hooked ❤
Chris's art in high school was breathtaking. He was a thoroughly decent kid with amazing talent.
Most of the automotive stuff is over my head but I love to watch the videos to listen to our genius kid talk about his work. We knew he would do well.😘
Love hearing that and not surprised. He’s such an impressive humble guy. Love becoming friends and watching his impact on the hobby
Shut up and take my money! 🤤🤤🤤
Had to edit my comment. This beautiful machine has undergone too much to just drop a one liner. I love how every angle, curve & panel has a purposely intended crafting , flow & vibe to it. Just WOW!
So much thought and purpose throughout the entire build
Awesome, thanks for sharing your thoughts! The comment thread here has been an incredible boost to the team!
It's the small details that really set a build like this apart from just building a lowered car with big tires and a big engine. His attention to detail and learning new techniques and processes to get the results they are looking for is truly inspiring. The term "Awesome Build" gets thrown around a lot but this truly is an awesome build. Hell of a job to Chris and his crew and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
My god that’s a beautifully crafted car!!! The paint on the edges looks like ice cream you could eat!!!!! Well done!!!!!!
Amazing car and interview! Every single design choice is perfect - I can't remember seeing another car where I wouldn't change even a single thing.
Same for me. This is perfection
This car is one of the baddest builds on the planet. The amount of time and engineering is next level
Agreed all the way
Genius.
As the builder of a 63 Impala SS with a 600 plus horsepower blown not so small small block, I am most impressed with your work. Jealous, envious and standing with a jaw dropping wide open mouth I am truly impressed. One of the best builds I've ever seen. And yes, thanks for keeping the 427 Ford engine. Their best in my eyes.
I love this, but would love it even more if it had an interior like a Bentley. Like a completely savage-but-comfortable GT car. Awesome work.
SMH, a cool over the top, attention to detail, craftsmanship extraordinaire build. Thanks for sharing.
Perfection imo
Production on this episode is supreme👌
Thank you
I'm in love with this car!! This is just a work of art! I've been a Ford guy my entire life and I do love the Galaxie. My uncle had one of these when I was a kid and loved the way it sounded when it started up. He would've loved this one. Beautiful work gentlemen. Such amazing cars. I am certainly a fan now. Lol! 😃😄😁
Awesome, that's so cool! Amazing how early exposure to a cool car can have such a strong impact on you for life!
I absolutely Love your videos Shawn! As a Native American Ford Racing fan🪶🩵🏁👍🏽
Both the Ford Galaxie and the Ford GT40 are both my Car Crushes!❤️🏁
Nice! They are an amazing pair and hilarious together due to the vast difference in scale.
@@chrisashton7133 yea, I heard the GT40 is kinda small when compared to the Galaxie and the Mustang...
Thank you. Chris and his Ruffian team do amazing work
I saw Larry Chen's video with this car at SEMA. It's nice to see that this car works as nice as it looks. I can see why he's in no hurry to sell it.
It really works and can’t wait to see him hitting tracks with it at some point
Having worked with Chris for a while now and knowing how much time and thought is put into the design alone, it’s awesome to see all the hard work and hours by the team highlighted in a badass video like this! This car is nuts, and I’m so excited for the next ones!👀
That wont get you a raise, back to work!!
J/K
Hell yeah boiiiiii!!!!! Such a sick video! Definitely does justice to the car. Thanks sean and the team for shooting the car
Thanks! So glad we got to shoot this finally and can’t wait for the Mustang next!!
Neither can we. Also just wanted to add really loved the way this video was edited... Super super cool
This is the baddest car on the show I’ve ever seen 😮💨👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm a Mopar guy but that galaxy is sick and the sound is perfect
Okay, I’ve been a subscriber since 2020, and THIS is my favorite build you’ve showcased! Not only that, but the videography and those gorgeous drone shots were sublime. I can’t imagine how proud Chris and his team are of what they’ve accomplished with this Galaxie. Feeling like I’m picking my jaw off the floor. I’m not kidding when I say I’m saving this one to which again. It’s almost like this should be payed content (please don’t though!). Seriously, thank you to Chris, Ruffian, Sean, and everyone involved in bringing this to us.
Wow! Thank you for such a cool comment. Chris and his team are on fire and I’m beyond proud of the work my team is putting in on 2024 content. Been pushing harder than ever! Thank you 👊
Thank you for not throwing an LS in that Galaxy

@@nickscotto3605 I mean no offense.
Hahaha, I'm just giving you a hard time. It's a beautiful, badass car. Cheers!
Foreal. I probably would have stopped watching
I almost did! Still have the motor I bought for it, waiting for us to build a Chevy!
I’m not normally into American muscle cars, but I watch this show so often I must be in denial! This interview with Chris just blew me away. The level of quality and the details on his creations are on another level. Really enjoyed watching this creation and hearing the story behind it. Thanks Shawn. Awesome stuff.
Thanks and glad you enjoy what we do since we mostly show American muscle. Chris is a special one. Smart. Creative. Humble. Stoked to know him
If you were to look in the dictionary under Bad Ass.....well, there you go!
The attention to detail is off the chain!
Well done!
Now I gotta go back and watch the other Ruffian videos because this was awesome.
He’s an extremely talented guy. Everything he does is a wow build!
You'll get to see Ruffian and @Autotopiala evolve as we have both improved our skill sets over time.
I’m trippin balls right now dude 🤣🤣
Wild build on all levels

Chris's builds are amazing & have so many hidden details. It's always a great video to watch him talk about his builds.
Now that it's him & his team, there's no stopping what they can do.
Absolute stunner! Thanks guys.
absolutely sensational. not only in looks(its sexy as), but the detail and planning to set it out, build and execute. Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!
They thought through everything
that dude builds perfection everytime
Agreed
Something else impressive about this car that I didn't consider until they had been well into the driving segment is how long they had just been cruising around in this "race car" and no one was dying of heat, the car wasn't pissed off, it was just doing it all no problem. Crazy.
They really built a driver. Not pissed off on the streets and can’t wait to see how it does on a big track
HO-LEEEEE-SHIIIT!! What a hell of a badass ride!! I am frikkin OVER THE MOON IN LOVE with this Galaxie!!
You know I love the FE. Chris you made the right decision there!
Soooo glad that Shelby makes them. Perfect motor for this car and honestly one of my all time favorite powerplants after owning the Galaxie.
I was gonna throw the remote thru the TV if there was gonna be an LS in there
Hah! Don't do that! But I get it . 😁
By far the best break down and in-depth detail of a car!!
I love the longer 50 min sessions especially when it went into the psychological breakdown of the car in the style and the functional🙏🏼🙏🏼🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯
Thanks for the input. Was worried about how long it is but it deserved showing all the details. Thank you!
These longer videos are awesome. It's like being in a racecar design class lol
Ruffian cars are here to stay
It’s basically a NASCAR and I love it.
Same for me
Off the chart everything..Car,Builder, Host,Crew.. Movie quality video.. 💯🔥
Thank you! Chris and his team along with our team…so proud of how this one turned out
One of my favorite cars of all time. Awesome build and using a FE just makes it better. Fear starts with FE. Respect.
Nice, thank you!
That gt40 is cold blooded, gahhhdayummmmm!!!!

He nails it every time imo
His styling is super sick💯🔥 one of the best builders out there
Totally agree
Such an incredible car, team of skilled people but most of all, Chris is just a great friend and all around guy!
That's a bad ol ride and the person or people brought that Ford Galaxie to a whole new level compared to all the upgrades I've seen throughout the years with that particular year of a Galaxie. I've seen so many of em done so many different ways, this one is spot on
They nailed it in every way on this one
Ruffian Cars are right up there with the Ring Brothers on creating some extreme, beautiful machines! I cannot wait to see what Chris and the team are gonna build next.
Agreed and I’ll add these are purpose built drivers…far from just a show car
Watching him beat on it makes it even better!
This was so much fun. Those are the Galaxie's first burnouts! Hopefully the first of many years worth of elevens to come!
Chris is the epitome of an artisan…his attention to detail and quest to design completely unique and beautiful cars is nothing short of mind blowing! IMO he’s ‘it’s right now…no one else comes close for this genre of build!!!😊
Well done Sean & Chris that car of yours is BADASS!
I Own a 69 Pontiac GP 455 Stroker RHD in Western Australia - it's a work in progress with new videos coming later this year. Much respect. Cheers from DownUnder
Thanks. Chris and his team nailed it on this build. Such a special ride
This is artwork in a functional format. I love the attention to detail, breathtaking.
Thank you! Definitely a blend of art and engineering. I think that's what makes custom car building so special and fun. :)
