- On this episode of Hot Rod Garage Presented by Lincoln Tech we revamp the Muscle Truck, our 1974 Chevrolet C10. In episode 28 of Roadkill we ripped the stepside fenders off the bed and cut the front sheet metal to make room for aggressive off-road rubber so that we could roost through the Imperial Sand Dunes. The fenderless version of the Muscle Truck was fun but it’s high time we restore the truck to her former glory. We’ll replace the rapidly deteriorating particle board bed floor with new oak slats and bolt-on a new pair of aftermarket front fenders. We’ll also add a bit of functionality to the truck by covering the massive step notch in the rear frame rails with sheet metal, which will keep stuff from falling out of the bed. As usual, Finnegan and Freiburger will answer viewer questions pulled from our Facebook page and Lincoln Tech instructors and students will drop a bit of knowledge in a new Quick Tip.

I love Roadkill and I love watching people taste weird sodas or snacks. Freiburger and Finnegan trying the teriyaki soda was pretty great to see.

I want to see more roadkill and longer episodes! I know you guys said it would kill you but your on to something that I can guarantee will work out for both of you in the long run.
the issue is it won't, unless they get pulled onto tv, which is unlikely since they already work for the magazine, this show is actually a financial loss for everyone involved.
Cameron Cerullo How is it a loss? Do you know the exact amount each sponsor pays them to use there product or put on their vehicles? I also was hinting something that you already said. Clearly you don't watch this show to often or you would know who David Freiburger is and he doesn't really work for Hot Rod magazine.... it's more the other way around.
Just be happy with what you get. Personally I'm liking hot rod garage more and more every episode, it's kind like a "Behind the scenes" of Roadkill. And hell, Roadkill is so epic one a month is enough for me. Consider this, Top gear only puts out 6 episodes a season, while Roadkill puts out 12 a year, plus Roadkill is about 1000x better than Top gear, so that equals 12,000 times awesome.

Even worse, we pay $hitloads for Xfinity and can use our account to signin, but half the shows don't show up once you sign in this way and even if you do manage to sneak your way into something worthwhile there are 20 to 30 commercials inserted by Comcast. I'd rather watch paint dry. At least for $5 a month I can still watch YT without ads. It almost makes me believe in god again!

Having a drink in the confines of your shop, clearly not driving, is a great example of enjoying alcohol responsibly. A great counter point to the drinking and partying example given in the rest of media.

crazy ! about 38 years ago I collected Hotrod magazine, and the car on the front of the magazine is the red one.behind Them ! now almost 45yrs old, and still love the hotrod scene. . roadkill took priority over our beloved uk top gear for me. ;) thanks chaps, brilliant show. true fan uk alex

I was not dissapointed.
Lincoln techs moto should read " teaching bad habits on a daily basis" . When you use pliers or dikes to twist studs loose it rips the sheet metal and leaves a divit, and weakens the sheet metal. If you use a razer wheel or small grinder to remove the studs it leaves no divit and doesnt weaken the repair area. If you cant remove paint with a course grit without warping the metal you have no business doing bodywork. If you use a slid hammer on individual studs 90% of the time it rips a hole in the metal or rips the stud loose. If you use a skin clamp or duck bill vise grips to grab several studs you do much less damage and dont end up with a bunch of high spots. It chaps my ass when " intructors" have no fucking clue and teach people bad habits. You know what they say. " If you suck at everything else you become a teacher"
Really? You guys were taught to repair dents using studs? My instructor taught me to flip the part over and gradually 're-form with with hand tools and a heat gun. I'm talking using metal rods and cones covered in plastic to slowly re-form the dent from the inside out.
Well you cant always just flip the part over, like if it is a 1/4 panel. And I really hope you don't just start pounding downward on a panel that is sitting on a x-frame or something. because you are going to dent it where it is being held up.
CyborgbobaFett NickR No we usually set the part down on a table set to the height we need (with some towels and mats down to keep the part from getting scratched) and with one hand we hold the outside of the piece and with the other we form the part. The hand on the outside is there to feel the part and make sure it's forming in the right direction, and for stiff parts or hard to get areas one guy holds the outside and one forms it. On 1/4 panels especially we leave the part attached and just started forming from the inside out.
That is pretty much how you would have to fix aluminum panels. Since you cant really pull them. But steel panels can be done much faster with a panel beater and a hammer. Just tack, pull, twist. Harder dents just keep tension on it and tap the panel with your hammer. And you can do it on the car so that you can match your body lines or edges up without taking things off and on.
I was taught to wipe down the area to be de-painted w/Wax and Grease Remover first so as not to grind the silicones in to he metal which will come back to haunt you w/your high dollar paint jobs.

I believe Freiburger sold it(the muscle truck) a couple months back. So you don't have to worry about that happening. Along with the Suburban they used to get Mikes belair

02Ranger3.0 I have a grand cherokee with the 4.7 and stock it sounds alright, but when I had it straight piped it was heavenly. Not the best engine in the world, but it does sound good.

I have a 5.3 Silverado with an 8 inch long, 3 inch inlet/outlet cherry bomb glasspack "muffler", exiting into a mandrel 90 degree bend, finished with a tail section that is the downpipe from a 6.0 powerjoke. instant racecar sound :) ive had tons of compliments.

Back in 2013 when Finn and Frie did the Roadkill Live Crusher engine swap during a lunch QA session Finn said he was 38, so he's 41 this year.
The level of sponsorship is painful - but whatever it takes, I suppose - this is a way better, more interesting, take on wrenching shows - with interesting likable guys - hate typical car show wannabe badasses.
