    Great to see the nuts and bolts of construction Dave. Lovely seeing the finished thing which is amazing but nice to see methods employed by others to do things. Also someone who is so concise in explaining why you do what you are doing.

      DaveClass47 B-Roll is the bit I think you call the “Running Shots”. I just love seeing the effort put into the weathering of the locos, and because it’s usually a still camera, you can really take in how detailed the scenery is and how much time has been put into the layout to make it so realistic!

    Utterly superb crafting. Have you video’d your ballasting in the past? Yours looks just like I plan on doing mine. I’ve got a 10ftx5ft layout being built and full of complex track and sidings and loads of ballasting to do

      Hythe Kent thank you so much. I really get a buzz out of people enjoying my work. Yeah I’ve done ballasting, balls sting a point video, weathering track videos etc. Just type in dean park and then the topic to the search and you’ll find them. :-) Dave

    Another great update Dave, and love the little running session interludes. I'll have to check out your video on the rust technique because the bridge girder effect you've created looks absolutely fantastic. Also looking forward to the possibility of more videos as you descend into autumn/winter, though you probably don't relish the thought of winter.

    Lots of time and not much to show. You are right about how long those walls and backscenes take to do but well wort the effort in the end. The Hornby test livery looks very good to me I got those vehicles and although not fully accurate they make a good looking train. The test car was used with freight vehicles when testing ride and braking. The van they had was used as a comparison vehicle for pitch and roll testing. I am wondering what you will come up with for the new industrial area Looking forward to finding out

    Nice little update, good to see progress on other sections of the layout.
    Rust 😍 got to love humbrol powders. Those spans always look better dripping in rust lol.
    Food for thought if you're ever doing chipping effects in the future, have you considered trying a chipping medium? Great for layering up and chipping back through to reveal rust spots, you can easily simulate many layers of paint thats failing and peeling away.
    I notice you use alot of 2mm (i think) mdf. Where do you get this from in this thickness?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  4 года назад +1

      Cheers. Yeah I’ve got chipping medium but never used it. I’ll have a play around with it on some scraps :-) I get my mdf online...homecrafts etc. I get it in 1000x600mm sheets. 2 and 4mm. Cheers. Dave

  • @trainmanbob
    @trainmanbob 4 года назад

    Speed, Dave, is not a word I would use for model railways at all. In fact speed is in my opinion pointless. The essential elements are detail and care of construction. I am learning this very rapidly, as I am now plagued with the dreaded arthritis in my hands and legs, everything takes twice as long. However this has lead me to being much slower and more accurate in the things I do. I would loved a video every day from you, but I really don't mind if I only see one once a quarter....it is the content that is important.
    As always another great video, and I really do like the presentation of dividing it into sections.
    Stay safe and healthy.
    Cheers, Bob

    Hey Dave, another great video as always - I'm getting back into the hobby and trying my hand at electrics for the first time. I always wanted to do motorised points as a kid in the 80s. I have a quick question, I've watched about 70% of all your videos in the past few weeks and will keep going until I get them all. Is there any chance you have a list of your preferred suppliers for different materials handy and would be willing to share? I'm quite happy to go back through all the videos and jot them down as you say them, but just though you may have a handy list somewhere first :) Thanks Dave, always look forward to your vids!

      DaveClass47 hi Dave, thanks for the reply, I’ve watched all ur videos by now! I don’t want to put you to any trouble, just if you happen to keep a list of your suppliers for electrics, paints, card and plasticard, scenics and weathering that kind of thing and it was easy for you to email it on it’d save me some time going back over all your videos ;) if you don’t have something quick and simple for you, then it’s not prob!

    Love the Strathclyde Transport train on the layout. Have you considered any Strathclydes Buses on there in the same orange and black liveries?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  4 года назад

      Yeah it’s a great livery. I’d prefer more Lothian buses! But they are rare to non existent. :-(

    • @douglaskinloch6272
      @douglaskinloch6272 4 года назад

      East Coast payout, the SPTE DMUs were allowed out to Edinburgh but the buses would have never have escaped Glasgow. I've noticed the Lothian Regional bus livery (based on old Edinburgh Corporation) on the layout too, reinforcing the location in the Edinburgh area.

  • @newboscastle2663

    Hi Dave. The layout is looking great. Always wondered however, if you had your time again would you use code 75 track?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  4 года назад

      New Boscastle cheers. Yes and no. Code 100 is far more robust, especially when you have the range of temperatures up a loft. Once weathered up code 100 is fine. Code 75, of course is finer but it has its drawbacks.
      So I can’t say definitively what I would use if I started again. Maybe make a code 87.5?... a half way compromise? 😆 cheers. Dave
