Probably the most realistic sound I have ever hear in a model railway when the Class 43 pulls out the station and build before with the whistle being blown, SUPERB!
Excellent video as usual, love the screaming HST at the start and look forward to watching another new scratch build, I'm sure you will raise the bar again Andy
Hi Dave, didn't want to comment till I had finished my binge watch of your excellent channel and layout, a minor observation of the caravan park is the lack of human activity, kids playing with a dog or a couple sat at a picnic table under an umbrella, I will continue to follow your progress with admiration of the modelling skills
Hi, thanks. And well done for surviving all my videos lol. Yes I looked for suitable figures at the time of building this but struggled to get any. I wanted some figures on this scene.
@@DeanPark thank you for the feed back, hope you have success finding something suitable, maybe a special request to your friends at West Hill Wagon works.
Thanks Dave. Anything to break the boredom of lockdown. March seems a long time ago. I am locked down now until January earliest due to my health so time to work on the layout. I am managing 3 hours a week average providing the weather holds. Stay well and healthy. Cheers, Bob
Great video Dave. The brickwork for the girder bridge is looking great and the centre platform with the supports looks perfect. Awesome Luggage trollies and a great update. All the best, Clint
Still my favorite you tube layout and there are some good ones out there. My skills aren't this good but videos like this gives me confidence to have a go. Guys like you Dave are wonderful for our fantastic hobby.
The intro sound is fantastic. Taken from a station I used to go to often when the HST's were a regular sight screaming away into the distance. I enjoyed the bridge building in real time. Shows how much care you take getting everything in position. It will be interesting to see a detailed look at the factory being built which incidentally looks very like one by the track side in my area.
Very beautiful and detailed work on those retaining walls Dave as we're all used to from your person - you've become a veritable master of retaining sections!
Your attention to detail is legendary Dave, as is clearly shown in this video. The sound of the HST departing at the beginning of this video was superb, in fact so good it must have been dubbed from the real thing!!!...Bob
Cheers Bob, yes it was a real recording and I recorded a set of sequences to match the sound and movement. A bit of fun and a great opening to the video. Cheers. Dave
Dave, that has made a big difference to the edge of that board on both sides and the middle support to the tunnel, looks just right. I like the way you research and even make a mock-up before the built and now with the retaining wall and tunnel entrance made, it should complete the attention to detail quite nicely. Martin. (Thailand)
Another excellent update, Dave. Great running shots and camera work, getting better every episode! The girder bridge section is looking brilliant. Looking forward to the progress on your new scratch build; it's going to fit in really well at that part of the set up.
Dave, Another excellent video to cheers me up a bit during my having to shield, think Richard over at Everard Junction is having some influence as we are now getting some music to accompany your work. Look forward to seeing the factory build as your scratch building is getting better and better with every new project.
Cheers. Haha!, I’ve used music for a while... but sometimes give it a rest as I get complaints 😃 With every new scratch build o like to try something new which I didn’t do in the last one, keeps it interesting for me and I learn new techniques too. I think we all need a cheers up don’t we!?... I’m glad you enjoyed it. Stay safe. Cheers. Dave
Great update Dave it seems like you have done lots of work on the layout good luck with that new scratch building project and that intro was on point well done.
Yeah I like a good start.. takes ages to edit though, so I dont do it all the time :-) but you can’t beat an HST screaming out of station can you! Cheers. Dave
Enjoyable and interesting video again Dave ... and more good progress. I love the variety of stock you have and careful use of space given the constraints of being a loft layout. Fabulous details and the luggage trolleys look amazing ... I’ll head onto your Facebook page to see if you have located the source of the 3D prints. I remember they weren’t comfortable to sit on at the end of a platform ... and always amusing when you found one away from it’s home station! 👍
Cheers. Thumbs up, thumbs down... it all counts as interaction as far as RUclips are concerned, so they’re doing me a favour! But there are some critical ‘experts’ out there :-)
Love to see their work mate ,as I’ve said Dave and it’s true your work is right up there if I had a big loft I withdrew have one based on the WCML around the Willesden or Harrow area I could run my tube trains if you know this section it has the London Underground/overground running parallel to it ,instead i live in a Lego set in west London and have a small layout but it’s nice 😊😊👍🏻
Nice job on the girder bridge - just the right amount of rust and grime. Looking forward to the linoleum (well done on not mispronouncing that one!) factory build. It's good to have a little bit of artistic licence. If it was all to scale it would dominate the corner too much. Look forward to your Novmebre update! ;-)
This layout is just insane in every detail ... kinda binch watching the videos ... perfect in every detail. BTW, you mentioned that someone made an overview from your layout on the computer. You got a link to that layout somewhere? Would be cool to see ... Keep up the good work mate ...
I reckon the old branch line down to the harbour would make an awesome industrial layout. It's a shame they pulled down the other buildings around there.
Yep that intro took me back to the 90s summertime with my bro and cousin sitting on our bmx's waiting on the sprinter to bathgate usually getting told off for riding along the platforms. Then the guard's wouldnt let us on if the train was too full sometimes 2 or 3 trains later we could. Screaming valentas and black soot shooting out the roof, In between the rails full of oil and diesel, there where fishplates missing on tracks and class 37 and 47s would bang over them. The never ending queue of taxi cabs flowing down the ramps. The place was full of noise and black blue smoke. It was great for spotting all the scotrail express 47s, the 91s, 43s, 37s and hundreds of 156s. Happy days indeed Dave. Great update on the layout..
Hi Dave, enjoyed the update. Screaming Valenta's, can't beat them. Those trolleys look great, was this an e- bay type purchase or were they from a shop? Looking forward to following the new scratch build. The layout is really coming on a treat now. Keep well buddy regards Bobby 'T'.
Cheers. Online shop purchase... I’ll find out and mention it in my next video. I can’t remember off the top of my head where I bought them. Glad you’re liking the progress. Ive just completed some major scenic work on the tracks at the station, so I’ll showcase that in my next video too. Cheers. Dave
Finally found a few minutes to sit and watch your latest video. After all those (what feels like years) of you moaning about HST power car liveries not matching the Mk3s now we know why. You've put the blue ones in with your swallow set bud 😉 All jokes aside. Nice update mate. Now I've seen yours, I must get my bridge finished soon. Bring on the next video.
Haha! Yeah I was running a bit Of a mix n match :-) watched a video of an HST coming in to Glasgow Queens Street off all places and it was in this formation of liveries. I did enjoy filming this sequence. Cheers Dave
Hi Dave, Loving the layout, really coming along well now. The grass and scenery colours are spot on! If i may what is the brick plasticard you are using, inspired me to make me own retaining walls. Cheers
Hi. Thanks 😊 I use south eastern finecast bricks. For three reasons; they come in various types (I use Flemish bond for the walls). They are more of the correct scale compared to wills sheets etc And finally, they come in large sheets, so hiding joins is easy behind a buttress wall! Have a go! It’s hard to get ‘off the shelf’ walls that fit your layout, hence why I started to do my own. Cheers Dave
Nice video and nice work, some inspiration for when I get started with my layout. I have some Jouef mk3 coaches which i'd started drilling and inserting brass pin point top hat bearings and replacing wheels, this made me notice on my new hornby mk3's there is a lot of axle freeplay between pin points is this normal for them?
Dean Park as a reflection of your modelling skills and eye for detail never ceases to amaze me. However, how resilient is it to the temperature fluctuations and extremes given its loft location? How do you protect it?
Hi. If sealed and supported it’s very robust. If it’s thin mdf and you’re making walls out I’d it I’d always brace it behind, and it all gets sealed with spray primer. Thin Mdf, just like card does not like damp, my loft isn’t damp thanks to good air circulation and the insulation foil, which helps a lot.
Max gives you longer working time, it’s thicker so would be better for areas where perhaps the fit wasn’t perfect. The rapid is thinner so flows into joints better.
Hi Dave! Fantastic video, really enjoyed seeing the completed Girder Bridge and loved the running shots throughout! Nice to see the locos running round the layout! Found the factory scratch build really impressive too, even if it is just card at the moment. Just wanted to ask, I know you’re an advocate of Hunt Couplings, have you had any issues with them? I’ve had quite a few packs and I’ve found a couple times that the magnets come out of the coupling or the plastic is brittle and breaks when putting it in. I have contacted their support with some friendly feed back but haven’t had a response :( Keep up the great videos!
Hi, I've had a couple of issues with the hunt couplings but the customer service from the guys at Westhill wagon works has been excellent. Can't thank them enough for helping out with the issue of a loose magnet in my first set of hunt elites, but the newest ones are great as the couplings are now made from something different and not as brittle as the early ones.

A Valenta departure!! Love the sounds 😀
Liking the look of latest factory already!

great update Dave and very much looking forward to the scratch build

Another great and interesting video, scenery is spot on looking great, oops with the spelling of October but who cares can't wait for the next one..
Excellent work and great video.
Is the sound of the intercity at the start of the video the locos sound or one found online
When I saw the seen on the bridge you were working on it brought back memories of the signalling school at Slateford
