Its amazing what you can do to bring a model railway to life, and this what makes your layout so fascinating Dave. Well thought out and executed as always, we are blessed with the choice of products available scenic wise. Blessed too with people like you taking the trouble to demonstrate, what to use ,techniques and raw materials you can utilise. Dean Park is a labour of love and we all love to see you labour Dave ...Great job Sir.

Just beautiful Dave, and what the station area has been waiting for. Very nice use of the varied trees and shrubs.
I was hoping for perhaps a Livingstone monument, the Scott memorial being maybe a step too far! Or even a wee Greyfriars Bobby? But seriously an excellent job, and I love how it allows the different views of the station beyond. Smashing final view of the signalman looking out to the gardens.
    Anyone for a picnic?

Another inspirational video Dave. I think it would be easy to go overboard with trees etc and you’ve got just the right amount imo - the views through the trees into the station and tunnels really are exceptional. The trees themselves are superb - I dread to think how much you paid for them but worth the money as they look excellent. I also love the clean lines of the borders that you’ve achieved.
This really is work of the very highest standard and I hope you have many enjoyable hours watching the comings and going’s through the garden 👍🏼

It's a shame that it isn't, but if the world was a perfect place, it would look like it does on your layout!!! I love how it is weathered, but also how it is pristine as well to go with it. Between the sleepers is rotten, but the ballast around it is clean enough to eat your dinner off. It really does look good. I love the other way of doing it with full weathering like Minsterley and Everard Junction as well. They all look amazing though in their different ways. I wish I was this good!

Excellent job Dave. Shrub bed very typical of the period, usually the result of a job creation scheme which would later be handled back to the council. There used to be a layout on the exhibition circuit that had a park with a tractor and a set of gang units in the process of cutting the grass.

"Ground Fall" ... First, great work! I have been waiting ages to see this area developed and love the end product. I was wondering about what I have seen other modelers on RUclips call "ground fall" which is what naturally occurs beneath large tress up against the trunks. It is usually some dead leaves, sticks, etc. And typically the grass will not grow right up to the tree due to decreased light, etc. Might you consider on the larger trees which are out in the grassy area, adding some dirt and ground fall beneath the tree in a circular shape adjacent to the trunks? Could be another added detail touch. If your park nearby, or via photos, shows this differently then I describe..with manicured grass right up to the trunk...then I digress and stand corrected. Again, GREAT WORK!

That grass looked so perfect and like a fairway on a golfcourse. It looked so wonderful that it made me think that has anyone ever added part of a golf course to their layout? It would be amazing to see with how incredible you can make scenery and grass look nowadays. A really scenic golf hole on the side of the railway, as you do see that quite a lot in real life. If my layout was big enough then I would definitley consider it.
Does anyone know of a golf course/hole/club house etc. being added to a layout?

There are a number of layouts on RUclips of people who have cameras on the front of the trains or even inside the front of the trains just showing a cabin view on the layout as the train goes around the layout. Would be interesting to see your layout from the cabin view :)

Hello Dave. I was looking back through almost all your great videos. The attention to detail is really second to none. One very very minor thing that kept bugging me however was your magnificent work on Dean Park Gardens. You often refer to the fact that your whole build is based upon Waverley Station and the surrounding area, and you also refer to "Waverley Gardens" . Waverley Gardens is in fact a street of tenement flats in Glasgow. The gardens in Edinburgh are for your reference Princes Street Gardens. These are divided as East and West. I had a vision of your good friend Richard at Everard, making another trip North and depending on his sat nav, ending up 45 miles to the West when looking at the real Waverley Gardens???? I know how pernickety you are about detail, so I thought I would pass on this information to you. Not trying to be a pain - please don't think it. Other than that, your landscaping is as I say magnificent. I will use so very many of your techniques in my own build, and will be including scratch build of the Scott Monument, which of course is situated in East Princes Street Gardens😂 Very Kindest regards.. Don

      Cheers Don.
I was under the impression that the stretch between the two tunnels was the princess street gardens, and I just divided the area at the station in my head by calling it Waverley gardens.
But thanks for correcting me. I’ve not got an issue with people being nit picky etc… it’s either right or it’s wrong and I’d rather know :-)
      Cheers
      Dave

@@DeanPark Thanks Dave. I knew you would want to be correct. As I say, I am about to embark (again) on my own build using many of your videos for reference, and just wanted again to say that your work is superb, and the first place to go for online advice in my opinion. I might start a video log myself, although I’m not sure I could even dream of emulating your standards, and also, I’m not sure my video skills are up to much, but hey, thanks for renewing my interest after I scrapped the first build ( MDF and hot/cold garages don’t mix). We learn from mistakes, and of course, those brilliant people who share their work on the internet. Keep up the good work. Regards. Don

Looks amazing but aren't you worried about tree roots damaging your retaining walls with the passage of time?

Great video, very inspirational Dave! Quick question, and may have been covered previously, the covered station pavilion type building - where did you purchase that from, or is it scratch built? Thanks Stephen

Hi station buildings are scalescenes downloadable kits, some have been altered by me, for example the main station building/ticket office. Cheers. Dave

Great gardens. I especially liked the shot from the station end along the length of the gardens. I have been in Princess Street Gardens many times and as I recall the larger/dense trees in the grass areas usually have next to no grass around the base of these trees. Did you consider this when designing the park?

Yea I did, but when I was doing my static grassing I wasn’t 100% sure on the tree position. So didn’t want to leave a bare bit and then not put a tree there! Compromise had to be made. :-)
