Killing it with that funk ! These 4 were great together. I spent months listening to this early stuff prior to summer exams - med school in '87 - kept me going .
This is an all time favorite. long long time Fan of '42 ( love the big selling albums dearly) but its this type of stuff I love the most )well, greatest. still do.
What an amazing band!! The original line-up, filmed here, is one of the best bands that UK has ever produced, in my opinion? Mark King is a force of nature, unmatched before or since and Phil, Mike and Boon (RIP) are all at the top of their powers here. 🎤🎸🥁🎹🎸🥁🥁🎵🎶🎼💥💪😊❤
The rhythm section is so tight. Phil and Mark building incredible foundations for Mike and Boon to do their stuff on top of ... super talent across the band.
Merci pour cette vidéo❤ Génial 👍👍c'est avec cette émission de 1982 que j'ai découvert Level 42. J'avais enregistré sur magnétoscope tous les passages du groupe dans cette émission et je l'ai repassé des centaines de fois !!!
A great rare gem from the lads! Wonderful interaction on stage that is so rare and great to see! I love new order too but you would never catch them having this much fun !
Wow, I never saw any songs of their second studio album performed live. These are priceless, thank you for posting this !!! I loved the percussions break on "Are you hearing", so good !
@@laurentlemoing6338 have a look for live performances from. 82-84, you'll find some tracks from POA played... Zurich 83 (I think) they played one time only a version of Last Chance, it's superb.
There's some other footage from 82 with Mike on drums and a few snap shots on one of Mikes recent singles where he's drumming, but it's lovely to see isn't jt
@@JBass42 i think i heard one of them say before that they were like a band of 4 drummers - it becomes evident in "are you hearing?" - and it's possibly a factor in making their music sound interesting, sometimes inexplicably, to me, because a rhythmic sense in a band means a lot to these ears and they had it, even if its not always evident in their pop numbers
@@Leese42 no shooting yet... I was looking for it on Saturday as I was going to send a link to my sister and it had gone, then by suprise one of the guys on FB shared the FB version on his timeline so I got searching and asked a good winman in a storm if he had it 😉 I've slightly tweaked the EQ but worried it sounds a bit naff or does it sound ok ? It was always a bit dull before and wanted to hear Phil's hats a bit better
There's slap bass lines, but sometimes it seems Mark King played bass more like a rhythm guitar without acting laying a bass line down for a tune on top. Maybe that's why the guitar player in Level 42 often sounded like he did not know what there was him to do.
@@JBass42 they had an unusual sound as a band, though. sometimes it can feel as if there's something "missing". not necessarily guitar solos. maybe it's that the bass & drums don't fit together in L42 like in other bands, so they don't quite sound like a rock band, or r'n'b band, nor jazz. An idiosyncratic brand of jazz funk maybe. But who needs labels. It's the Level 42 sound!

Phil and Boon. Amazing. Loved the original line up. Of course.
Great to see. Boon plays more here on Pursuit of Accidents than the recorded version.
Pioneering for 82. Thx for posting

love the early stuff. Saw them twice in the 80s

Magic. Pursuit of Accidents seems to be completely improvised, but it's a phantastic organized and flowing composition.

Mark is a very busy bass player so whoever is on guitar has to accompany him rather than lead him which is more the case in other bands
