    Very good trick Thomas, i don't know why but combining together bridge edge loops and grid fill never crossed my mind once, ahah. Have a good evening pal.

    can you make a video about modelling baroque ornaments? they have a complex design and it would be interesting to see you model them

    What is the utility of having a model like this carved into such small squares when those vertices are > 90% coplanar and the surface doesn't deform? I know why we want uniform, regular-ish quads on a curved surface

    • @Outmind01

      Was just about to ask the same. His advice is solid, no doubt, but in this specific example the piece is 100% flat. Why bother with the topo unless you plan on deforming the piece later?

    • @ThomasColin3D
      @ThomasColin3D  4 месяца назад +1

      Hey guys, yes they are flat, but if you listened to what I said at the beginning of the video, the guy who asked me to make this video had a specific question, how to grid fill a complex hole with more than 4 angles, so that's what I showed. :P

    I can't see the number of selected edges on my interface. do you know what's the fix for this?
    thank you!

    En général pour le modeling, tu conseils plutôt de tout assembler (avoir des objets avec une grande densité car toutes les parties sont "accrochées" dans un même mesh) ou alors tu uses la modé en pénétration, ou alors un mix des 2?

    • @ThomasColin3D
      @ThomasColin3D  4 месяца назад

      La modé en pénétration ? C'est la première fois que je vois ce terme, j'ai les termes en anglais du coup je ne vois pas ce que tu veux dire. Mais en général je modélise pièce par pièce comme. Dans la vraie vie les objets sont rarement d'un seul bloc.

    • @SonoLucaMoretti
      @SonoLucaMoretti 4 месяца назад

      @@ThomasColin3D je ne sais pas non plus comment on dit donc j'ai utilisé le terme pénétration = Dans le sens où un objet va "pénétrer" dans un autre (ex: sur un char, des formes comme un attrape main va venir se superposer sur le bloc principal, et non être modélisé dans son même mesh) Mais je ne sais pas si ça se fait dans l'industrie (le gars avec qui t'as feat Arijan le fait beaucoup (parfois un peu trop))

    hello, good video! Can you do the same result with quad remesh? Also what is the downside of using auto retopology rather than manual topology, I tried quad remesh with models that have holes and it dosent work with booleans that well

    • @ThomasColin3D
      @ThomasColin3D  4 месяца назад

      Hello, thanks you! The downside of using auto retopology is that sometimes it doesn't give you good results, it can produce weird edge flow. And you will not become a better 3d modeler by pressing a "remesh button". It's better to know how to solve problems manually :)

    • @AlUser3460
      @AlUser3460 4 месяца назад

      I am not saying that I will depend on the quad remesher completely cause I am not beginner also not very professional and I can do some clean shapes, just some stuff like rocks or so take too much time to retopologies

    Thanks for vid. I would like to see a video explaining the logic. I'm not from 3d background and self thought most things. What I want to know is what is the logic to create so many extra verts. Why not just leave it as plane. Is there any check list that has to be followed to create a model. Say I want to create a simple object which can be made with simple planes and some cuts. What is the reason to make it complex. Have seen that ninja star video. What I thought was I could be created with simple plane and knife tool. Then may be scale and make it look like sharp at some area. But why make it so complex with lot of faces. May be I'm making it no sense. 😅. Confused. So just want to how to aproach to model a object is there any strict rules to follow ? . If I want to create a light bulb. I Will do it by creating a sphere cut and extrude and scale. And for the bottom part I will create cylinder and atrache to spher to make it look a bulb. But how they do is different some do it as single mesh. Is there any video which can explain it.
