I wanted to thank you for the guide! I've always struggled with Karl in particular, but your video gave me enough courage to try it on Hard/Hard. Followed your guidance up to around turn 10, and I've just reached my Short Victory at turn 30 after defeating Vlad. My borders seem very secure aside from the north, so I might keep going for a Long Victory Campaign. Thanks again for all the tips!
Hey man, you have great videos, I've been watching since warhammer 2. I'm glad you're still making content! Those formations/tactics videos are helping me a lot
Disclaimer: There is no need to proceed this quickly after Turn 6 - this is just how shook out, but starting with Marienburg Turn 6 is absolutely the strongest start I've experimented with. Apologies for the delayed release - IRL has been crazy this week - please join the Discord for some free assistance if you need it. Happy gaming champions!
Great guide thanks! Extra tip: instead of disbanding a lord that you want to keep, you can select the reset skills option as that makes them available sooner than disbanding.
I completely forgot about that haha. Tbf I think in this case it's best to just save the gold since fast tracking growth with Karl's ability brings forward a lot of big construction cost.
Very thoughtful, I've played my last Karl campaign largely like this, except I recruited Archers over Spearmen early, assaulted Marienbug without ambush (it's rather easier ..), and sold Helmgart to Bretonnians after taking Marienburg, cause it doesn't earn any money, is costly to upgrade, and is better defended by the AI with its cheats ^^ But I didn't use the Edicts as much nor as well !
I agree gifting Helmgart is a very viable option and certainly more suitable for some players. You're very right they can build it up quicker and it might never faulter the entire game. Perhaps I should have explored that more, but as the entry into your empire, the player can decimate enemy armies on the approach and protect your primary holdings ever being touched. You make a good point and I'd honestly have to test which way works out best, but both are strong. Cheers for the strat!
Very true! Allows for additional rerolls if that's your preference too. Since more wars makes the player a weaker target I decided to limp in and not potentially attract more heat and have some surprises come turn 10+. Cheers for the strategy mate!
The only thing I would add is that on L/VH, leaving Kemmler alive for Leon Leoncoeur to defeat can be a big mistake. Often Leon fails miserably (he gets attacked by Belakor) and Kemmler comes back with a vengeance when you least expect it. Destroying Kemmler and gifting all that territory to Leon is probably the way to go.
I can't disagree with this position. Well said and it certainly would power up Leon even more early on. For context, in one run he stayed strong, but on this one, Grom did go on a tear. Who knows, a stronger Leon may have expanded more and halted him? Regardless, nice strategy and thanks for sharing it!
this channel is a goldmine, ive been getting back into wh3 for a little while so i love it. any chance for a katarina campaign start some tips, that campaign can get quite hectic imo
Karl is a great project campaign. It's different every time and tests you in every way. Even vets can feel the heat by what it can throw at you, but it makes you a complete player. Hope you enjoy your campaigns and good luck in the next Reikland run!
Don't mind saying it - this is probably the best 'how to kill stuff' guide I've ever seen. There are some other good ones out there (LoTW and Zerk come to mind) but this is better imho. I've already played Franz on WH2 but now I'm itching to have another go on WH3. I have about 1000 hours on TW games (Troy and WH2 mostly) but I still feel like a complete newb. Also noteworthy that other;s out there call Marienburg a 'trap' as it exposes you to the Norsca, but it's hard to argue with the troops you can get your sweaty palms on,
what is your recommendation for franz army late game. u made a video about franz army but how does it change for after latest patch. what would u change? thx for any advice
Honestly, not much has changed except State Troops now play a bigger role, as do heroes with their Aura buffs. I tend to keep my starting lord with a balanced, mid-tier army with strong buffs so it performs above what you pay for, then hire new lords to build elite armies with. My late game Karl army probably has: x1 Karl (Deathclw) x1 Captain (Pegasis with infantry buffs) x1 Wizard x1 Warrior Priest (Auras) x1 Engineer (optional W.Hunter for aura buffs) x3 Carroburgs (frontline) x2 Eldrads (Rear Flanks) x2 Reiksguard (Flanking) Damage dealt by either Artillery: [Double Diamond in Centre] x3-8 Gunderman Surefires x2-3 Hellstorm x2 Hellblaster Volleys OR Steamtanks For other generals, can replace the flank protectors with 4 Demigryphs in the setup shown on the formation video. Use this to defend steam tanks and/or landships.
@ElvenPlotArmour I believe the quote from the game was "Uroboros will be released into the atmosphere, ensuring complete global saturation." It's in re5.
Hey Elven, somewhere you said that being at war with people makes you weaker, can you explain this. Does it mean the LESS wars you have on the LESS factions are to declare war on you?
No worries. Being a power with no enemies means you're not a weak target, in fact if you have a strong balance of power (good miiitary) with good allies, you're a very strong target. However, if many factions are at war with you then it makes you appear weak as all of their power is poised against you. Additionally, if you are widely hated it'll be a popular decision to pile on you to and fall in line.
Hi buddy. Can u help me please. What dlc should I buy. Does new dlc come with old characters aswell. Or do I need to buy all the dlc across the 3 games. Just before I go spend and I don't have to. Thanks
Im not sure how you were just able to recruit engineer heros like that. I didnt have the option to do so until much much later....not sure what i missed
@@ElvenPlotArmour im watching through a lot of your guides and videos just now. i really like them because they're not cheese metas that fall apart for most people that don't have crazy amounts of skill in the game. you just play the game. and play it REALLY well lol. thanks for the vids.
Well it didnt work for me. Middleland got obliterated in the first 4 turns by the beastman and I had to retreat after destroying Marienburg. But still your video helped me with destroying marienburd and secestionist quite fast.
@@ElvenPlotArmour Everything went well in the end. I almost consolidated the Empire. I just have to strab in the back my dwarven ginger ally beacuse he took some of the vampiric cities that I require.
The AI has undergone some serious changes lately but Total War is renown for being unpredictable (and that's a great thing!). You can opt for your own preference here as the wars are largely going to happen on this front regardless. Just use the walls on capitals to fend off attackers!
If you want to force the RNG to turn to the next cog, sign a diplomactic treaty. ie) join a war, sign a non-aggression pact, or give a gift etc. That forces the game's RNG to reset again.
After 3 minutes I had to stop already, just shoot with the mortar on max range, put the handgunners uphill behind your frontline, flank the crossbows with the cav, let the melee play out since with the buff of KARL FRANZ there is no problem winning it and hammer them with the CAV from behind Why this extra position? Why the worse set up? I dont get it
Hey you're welcome to your opinion mate, we all have them and I ain't judging you for yours :) For context, the angle I take is avoiding cheese and exploits and adopting a more RPG style play with more of a storytelling vibe than min/maxing. If I can play out a battle in the most satisfying way and have the losses not ruin my campaign I'll opt for that every time. The idea is you can fight the battle the way you like: if your jam is corner camping and taking no losses then that option is always there too. Anyway, cheers for watching!
The intro was epic, when i watched the first part of this guide i sighed and launched my 13th karl franz campaign.
Always seems to hold up haha
Best channel for strategies hands down. Now do a 10 best turns for the Old World mod!
Thanks for the kind words. I've got a backlog of videos to get through, but an Old World stream is certainly on it!
Get Elven Plot Armour a trough, cuz he is the WH3 RUclips GOAT!
A "trough"?! Am I a beastmen to you!? 😂 Jk, thanks, you're too kind.

This guide says to hire 3 crossbow on turn 3 and they don't exist on your turn 7. The whole line makes no sense after that.
My ambush on turn 4 has failed 20 times consecutively.. how on earth can that happen on 80%?

Why only those 3 wizards?
Other than the title GJ. 10 perfect turns, No. Fastest time I've seen the entire empire conquered is T24 or T26, including Kislev.
