Plus this only affects the local region, not province. Malagor can stop enemy replenishment in the local province, however this shouldn't cause attrition, this should just stop replenishment itself.

I'm generally not a fan of how difficulty is implemented in Total War. For the most the enemy is a dumbass on all difficulties, but they just get free units and stats on higher difficulties along with increased player bias. Then you have to react strategies that minimize unit losses, which usually means spamming ranged units and running around with a caster character that nukes enemy armies by itself.

there are mods that give armies restrictions to unit types (or type+tier). this forces armies to have a more balanced spread of units with less elite units as well. this also applies to the AI. while this obviously doesnt fix how poor the AI is at making decisions at least it does add more variety to units being used, which tend to make campaigns remain fun to play for longer (i still rarely complete one as it gets boring in late game).

In conquest (practically same as this) you'll have panzerjagers while they have T34's even KVs have shown up before I even got close to a panzer on harder difficulties. Not fun imo, and I strive for difficult games sometimes.

@Zerkovich Playing as Skarbrand i noticed that i got prevented from replenishing my troops although i shouldve been able to replenish anywhere. Trying to figure out why, i noticed that the reason was that Malagor The Dark Omen was in the same region as me. Because when i left The region i were able to replenish once more, until Malagor followed me to the same region once again preventing it. Heres to the main point, Malagor lives just south of Wurzag. This thing that happened me mightve affected you in ur campaign was Wurzag but with a slight twist. Since i was a Chaos action and thus immune to Chaos corruption it just prevented replenishment for me but since Wurzag does not havet that immunity it mightve caused you to take Chaos attrition. Now the reason you mightve not seen Malagor is possibly since ge was either in hidden encampent stance or hidden beast path stance. Malagor usually moves through Wurzags territory to reach Mourkain south east of Wurzags territory as it is surrounded by swamp lands. Hope this info and theory helps. Peace and thanks for your Nice videos and work.

I'm just finishing up his campaign now and had a lot of fun with combining those races insane range units and using the nurglings like skaven slaves. A couple plague wind mortars or hell cannons really helped nullify the enemies ranged advantage because it forced them to come to me. Chaos blunderbuses+ 2 nurglings to cover them shredded units that try to engage. Warpfire throwers and death globe bombardiers/Poison wind devastated whatever was attacking my lines. Basically allowed me to run nurgling's all game, used heroes as my cavalry on chariots and rot flies, and pretty much didn't need codes or plague bearers

You can get a much stronger campaign start with Wurrzag if you attack the first army but then retreat before the battle, that moves you out of their zone of control and then you can go straight for Dragonhorn Mines on turn 1 before the faction leader has managed to build any units and take that city, thus gaining the factions settlements via confederation AND the 1st army you would normally fight is yours and undamaged.

Also you can ignore stonemine tower instead of bothering with scabby eye just yet and kill the ogres, kill their camp and run straight over to iron rock and the scabby eye leader should be there, sometimes but not always he will beat the skaven there and you can kill him for confed. It doesnt matter if he doesnt win youll just have to confed him later, but after you take iron rock you can jump straight to Karaz-a-karak which should be empty, and then take it because thorgrim is dealing with skarsnik.
I don't think zerk was going for a strong start anyway though, he wasted a few turns sieging barak varr instead of just attacking and taking it. Which only gives the other AI factions time to build up. He was also recruiting orc boyz over goblins, as much as i love orcs, goblins in this game just make a better frontline, goblin shamans make a better lord because they buff goblins even more, the goblin techs in the tech tree eventually make their superiority unquestionable. Orc Boyz can kill stuff but they just get annihilated in the process, you want your bows to do the damage and your frontline to take as little casualties as possible.

I think the problem for a game like Total War is that it's hard to show that kind of personality since half the game is just moving your pieces which is the same for all factions and other half has so many possibilities that programming such an AI would be ridiculously expensive for a video game or outright impossible. Hence why Devs go for the buffs instead since it's a practical albeit simple solution

After playing on almost only legendary for WH2 and 3, the biggest difference in the early game is having to fight manually and prioritise directions where you can take out a faction easily or the one with the biggest aversion to you. And you gotta receuir constantly and build almost exclusively with battle money. The AI is much much more likely to declare war on you as soon as your power ranking drops and you take too many casualties, especially if they dont like you to begin with. So key factors to first 20 turn legendary success is recruit to the point you got almost no income and fight everything manually minimising losses :) deffo a good video demonstrating you cant play v hard and legendary the same way or ur screwed

@@zhshsG7 The buffs are overblown by people who dont play on very hard, having red line or some rank ups on your units negate these mostly. The worst buff is to leadership, which means almost every unit is a dwarf and can still stick around till the very last troops and dont break easily. You'll have units with 3 troops left coming back to fight down to the last troop. But the most annoying thing about very hard battle difficulty probably is that the AI acts different which can sometimes be a blessing(bows wont shoot small targets which means a flying wizard can fly around dropping magic on the enemy army without danger of being shot) but is mostly a curse, they will dodge mortars and cannons unless they are tied down which means those units dont become very effective. Lords and heroes will dodge bows like a player to waste your ammunition and their ranged units will opt to shoot your large targets and ranged units rather than the first target that comes in range.

    • @zhshsG7
      @zhshsG7 Год назад +3

@@bighoss1860 Yeah, well exactly. First of all the AI perfectly dodging everything doesn't make sense, I hated this for example in AoE 2 where the AI dodges mangonel shots better than any pro. And secondly, I don't want enemy units to be abnormally high leadership. When I flank bleakswords with cavalry I want them to rout as they should, not fight like dwarfs. This is one of the main reasons cavalry sucks (except for some particular factions) on VH battle difficulty. So for me, normal battles it is. No unfair advantages!

@@zhshsG7 Yea, its dumb how the AI dodges artillery but they have to make the game harder somehow. Its far too easy on normal and hard battle diff, its easy even on very hard. You are battling someone handicapped on normal battle diff, the AI is an idiot, the reason it needs cheats and things like that is because they cant make it smart enough to give an actual challenge. It needs the higher leadership because it will put itself in situations that will break its units because it isnt smart enough to realise what its doing. The AI isnt getting an unfair advantage on hard or vh battle diff, you already have an unfair advantage battling the AI at all, because you have a human brain. Cav doesn't suck btw i use cav quite alot.

As someone who plays Legendary alone since, well, ever since Shogun 2 tbh. Legendary is all about ultimate efficency, for example things like taking 2 turns to take a walled settlement is something you REALLY REALLY dont wanna do in Legendary unless you absolutely have to (in 99% of the cases you don't have to). Because AI will outrecruit you every single time, you don't wanna give them any free turns.
Its like playing chess, you need to plan your moves before starting the campaign and when the randomness happens you gotta adapt. In Wurrzags case the randomness is Malagor/Mors and Skarbrand. But how do we be ready for that randomness? Well thats why i say its about efficency. For example there is a little trick you can do with Wurrzag at the start of the campaign in order to end up having 2 armies and you can deal with your initial enemy in 1 turn, even without the trick there is no real reason to recruit before attacking Dragonhorn Mines because you can attack it in a single turn take it and then recruit, again efficency. You might say its not a big deal but it is a huge deal, every turn counts and it counts towards your demise, in this case Skarbrand, Malagor and Mors. Also you need to always check diplomacy to see if you can get money from factions around you. Again going back to the siege of Barak Var, there is no reason for wurzzag to wait 2 turns to attack that settlement when he can just take it in one turn, again, every turn counts on Legendary.
The rule of thumb with Legendary is always, how much can i possibly do in this 1 turn?
I often play multiplayer campaigns with my friend and its always weird to me when he starts recruiting instead of attacking the settlement, take it and then recruit. I am like "no no don't recruit you can take the settlement" and he is like "shouldn't i get more units before i attack?". Again Legendary forces you into that efficent mindset and i really enjoy it tbh.

It's probably better as Wurrzag to become friends early on with as many greenskins as possible by joining their wars with distant minor factions, and then focusing in on one foe at a time, e.g. the ogres, or the beastmen, or Skarbrand. As you pointed out towards the end, your mistake was going north to make all of these new enemies, alienate your neighbors, and then get attacked by all of the foes at your doorstep to the south.

Very hard is my preferred difficulty as well. I wouldn't mind legendary at all if it only meant more modifiers for the AI (in fact, I would prefer it with how easier WH3 is compared to WH2).
But one thing - I hate the save restriction. And second thing - why the hell is battle realism mode in campaign difficulty and not battle difficulty? I tend to pause battles less and less the more experienced I get, so that isn't a very big problem, but restricted camera is really annoying, especially if my units fight far away from each other.
I only did one legendary campaign in WH2 and one in WH3, only to get the respective achievements. Like I said, I don't mind the AI getting more cheats. But it's the other restrictions that make legendary really annoying for me.
