I wouldn't say Arch has a hard start, but having to take on Boris early doesn't make it super easy either. Your army is mostly still Marauders by the time Boris comes at you, and they can get absolutely melted by Kossars.

@@fcon2123 It's definitely not unwinnable. I was playing Arch last night on Hard/Hard, and went for Boris extra early. If you give Helmrip peace once he's on his last settlement, you can get to Boris by turn 6 and only have to deal with one stack.(He usually travels with another half stack reinforcing him) Even with some lucky recruitment spawns giving me a Giant, 2x Marauder Horse, plenty of poision dogs, marauders, plus the "free" Hellcannon, and the Swords of Chaos, it was still a Close Defeat on auto-resolve.
I ended up getting a Heroic Victory, but the 2x Warbear Riders would have been a lot harder to deal with without the Giant, and imo an "easy" start is one where, if you wanted, you can auto-resolve your way through the first 15 or so turns without losing or crippling your early game.

There's a lot of reasons with the diplomacy changes and Festus really ruins the cohesion of the elector count system. He kills off too many important Empire factions early on when you're dealing with other problems. Then I can't confederate shit. Seriously every time I defeat a threat or come close to it on a Franz campaign, another faction declares war on me.

I've had some IE campaigns where Karl's a cakewalk. Others where I've had to quit 20 turns in. The mechanics are definitely harder than before, but it feels like RNG is another big issue for him. Like the fact that Durthu and Louen seem to have a chance of saying "screw you, the empire is ours now", Marienburg is a coin flip of best buds or constant pain in the ass while you're trying to deal with the real problems and Ikit will sometimes just *randomly* spot your faction so he can declare war. And if any of those happen, Festus, Khazrak and/or Vlad get time to snowball your Imperial Authority into the negatives.

In my opinion Grombrindal is just a bit too close to the Chaos Wastes to be the easiest dwarf. You're basically guaranteed to go to war with Malekith within the first 10 turns meaning you'll have to push north to take him out. This then starts a timer until, inevitably, Valkia declares war on you and starts razing all your northern settlements. Meanwhile pushing up into the Chaos Wastes is just annoying and inevitably gets you I to more wars with more chaos factions

If you get the PO and untainted bonuses in the research teee and keep your grudges in check, the chaos wastes are perfectly fine to occupy with Grombrindal. To get around the little to no replenishment side effect, I just merge damaged units and use global recruitment. By the time the Dark elves are cleared out and their provinces are built up, you can get most of the useful units to 1 turn recruitment. Aside from maybe Ironbreakers, just use Longbeards in the meantime they perform almost as well to hold a line.
You can easily hold a defense line in the province with Ghrond with just 1 cheap army and some walls while clearing everything south. Make friends with Tyrion and Mazdamundi. Then you can push all the way through the chaos wastes to the old world and meet the other Dwarf factions if they are still alive and you want to play that long.

take the estalian settlement near skavenblight, activate the food commandment on skavenblight, spend two turns recruiting max skavenslaves into ikits and a new lords army, sprint two armies of skavenslave spears/slingers into into the beastmen's chaos corruption. All the while research the tech that lowers skavenslave upkeep. 'always more besides' I think? Camp them by an estalian settlement, wait till the estalian settlement gets besieged, sue for peace with estalia and offer to join their war against the beastmen for money then attack the beastmen with both armies. On the next turn besiege and attack the beastmen settlement.
Leave estalia to recolonize all their destroyed cities if they want to it doesn't matter. In the meantime, all the chaos corruption will mean your one colonized settlement is producing three food a turn. Recruit another army of skavenslaves as about now aranessa should declare war on you. Burn the doomrocket here if you need to. stick all three together, the food upkeep will be paid by your one chaos-corrupted settlement with some extra from skavenblight, and just walk through tilea auto resolving everything until you get to sartosa. Besiege it with one army, set the other armies to raid until you have enough food to make it a level 4 settlement, then bam. Go back through estalia and clean up. Raid outside each destroyed settlement until you have enough food to make it max level. When raiding empty provinces you still get the +3 food.
Then marvel at how it's turn 20 and you're making 6k a turn while having three armies. God bless skavenblight and her guns.

I think Tyrion is the easiest, but I'd say that Zhatan the Black is a close second. He's super tanky, hits like a freight train and you only have two directions to worry about at first, since Cathay rarely ventures north of the wall. Take your initial region and 2/3 of the region to the East and then turtle, building and raiding the East until you can afford a second army to keep Grimgor at bay while you take your primary army and steamroll through the Puppets of Misrule. Take the 3 bastion settlements and you can raise a cheap hobgoblin army to raid Cathay at will, popping north of the wall anytime Cathay sends anything heavy to stop you. Grimgor is the hardest enemy you'll have early game and by the time Zhatan finishes him off, you'll be so powerful that nothing can stop you.

Given i'm a massive enjoyer of the Alberic D'Borderlaex experience i can say its a little mono focused on cav and to move outside of that almost requires alliences to gain units outside of the bretonian roster though in my case the Huntsmaster is an easy and natural ally for ranged and Gor-Rok though can be a little irridable at times can give you saurus front line to hold off next to anything. though by the time your spamming Grail Knights you barely need even that as nothing the AI throws at a pack of Grail Knights and Hippogryff knights lasts long.

@@volrosku.6075 That's really less of Bretonnia and more of Alberic himself and his starting location. Anti-Large units tend to be the counter to cav, and a stopped charge is a stopped charge even if the cav hit chaff or not, and that's before taking into consideration missile units. So that's kinda why I see them as weak, mono focused on something with easy counters to it and very expensive high tier units compared to inexpensive chaff that route 5 seconds into every battle. Not a particularly strong faction if you ask me.

@@inductivegrunt94This doesn’t read like you have much experience playing Bretonnia. Only idiots try going full cav before the late game. Anti large spears? A men at arms sword and shield will tie that up or a treb will weaken it or a mage will blast it before a lance formation cav charge will sweep it from the field. There is also the fact that most factions don’t bring a whole lot of anti large in the early game so this weakness of theirs is exaggerated.

    • @inductivegrunt94
      @inductivegrunt94 11 месяцев назад

@@Laid2Rest94 I'm just saying that Bretonnia cav is easy to counter when you have the right units. I'm not saying doomstack Grail Knights or something like that. Having Men-at-Arms and Trebuchets will help over the weaknesses of the Cavalry, just that those units are either poor leadership or are vulnerable to harasser units.
Bretonnia as a whole suffers from being super weak in all departments other than Cavalry and Magic, so they can be easily countered by factions like the Dwarfs, Chaos Dwarfs, Skaven, Lizardmen, Wood Elves, Empire, Vampire Coast, etc. Basically any missile or monster heavy faction shreds them apart with little effort once they tie down the Bretonnian Cavalry and keep them from cycle charging.

How is Orion only number 5?!?!? By turn 6 you can easily have free upkeep for 20+ armies for the rest of the campaign! Seriously, I'm in the middle of an Orion campaign, and I basically haven't had upkeep since turn 6 with a couple small exceptions. I have 25+ armies, most of which are tree kin or better, and they're all free.
    How did I do this?
    1. In the tech tree, after the first tech, get the one that gives you sight of all magical forests, which also puts you into contact with any faction in contact with those forests.
    2. Talk to those newly discovered factions, and have them pay you to join wars against factions they're in contact with but which you aren't. You can get a lot of very useful early game cash this way, and it also puts you into lots of wars against factions very far away from you that are no threat early game. You can also check which factions will pay the most for declaring war, if a particular faction is at war with multiple factions you can talk to. And _then_ you can also declare war on the factions that just paid you!
(I stayed thematic and only declared war on "evil" or otherwise high aversion factions at first, and even with that limit had no issues. Until I started either running out of them or was just conquering the whole map.)
    3. Talsyn reduces upkeep for all armies by -4% for every active war you're in. The supply lines penalty on Legendary is 4% per army. Not including upkeep reductions from lord skills or tech tree, the formula for free armies is (# of wars) = (# of armies + 25). Step 2 can get you into 30+ wars on turn 6, and it's very easy to ramp that up to 40+ by turn 20, allowing for tons of free armies. I'm currently at war with over 50 factions.
    4. Now your only costs are building and recruitment. With the large amount of money wood elves can get from fighting, you can easily afford to build anything/everything as soon as available, and recruit higher tier units.
Talsyn went from a pretty garbage faction in TWW2 to, IMO, easily the most powerful in TWW3. Because unlike every other faction that has free upkeep, the Wood Elves don't have unit caps. Thus why I have a dozen all dragon armies. :D

I think Grimgor, Archaon and Belekor deserve mentions (arguably the easiest IMO). Archaon and Belekor are positioned to quickly collect fortresses and vassals. Grimgor can farm a very quick 100k from caravans while spamming stacks of just boyz (great when upgraded with early tech and scrap) and swarm in any direction you want. Ridiculously rich faction.
Ghorst probably is the easiest of all once you get his faction-wide zombie buffs, but having to fight every battle manually because you have a stupid number of zombie stacks is beyond tedious.

Ghorst truly embodies the feeling of playing an undead horde. Just thousands of shambling zombies that walk forward swiping at shit and standing back up every time they get killed. It takes them a while to chew through enemy fortifications, but they just never fucking die.

Warriors of chaos are hilariously overpowered. Archaon is the best by a good margin, and Vilitch requires a little bit of spell casting a finesse sure, but other than that literally every single one of them are incredible fighters, have the amazing new war and system, and put up dark fortresses which are just unkillable to the AI, all while not having to protect a giant empire and swarming the map with vassals.

I feel like Zhao Ming is super easy AFTER you wipe out clan Eshin. Once they are gone you pretty much steamroll all of Cathay's regions. Then you only have to worry about two entrances to the region since getting through the Bastion is basically impossible later in the game for AI. Super easy to defend. Really gives you that Isolationist feel Cathay is known for.

For sure, and wiping out clan eshin early is very easy to do, before they get their globadiers and everything is invisible and 60+ speed. That and you can confederate on cooldown since you make insane amounts of free gold from Caravans to bribe everyone around you. I steamrolled my last Zhao campaign to 30+ provinces before turn 75, with Greasus and Miao Xing allied.

I REALLY do not think that the Fay Enchantress, or Grombrindal should be included in this list.
They both actually have quite difficult starts, that are hard to take advantage of.
Grombrindal's difficulty is almost entirely determined by if Exiles of Nehek want to be friends or not, and if Nagarythe survives early on. If they both like you its quite a breeze, if not I'd say its one of the hardest campaigns.
Fay Enchantress is also tricky, for pushing into Estalia, facing two factions that have underway stance, while you get attritioned down. If you can rush and take the last Estalian city early, avoid any Wood Elf wars and blitz the herdstone its a breeze from there.

I disagree with Mao Ying at the least from a first time players perspective that literally just finished her IE campaign on Very Hard.
-After you finish off your initial enemy, you immediately have to begin playing whack a mole with Clan Eshin who recruits approximately 5-6 stacks of trash that just runs around razing/occupying settlements via the Underway stance.
-While your solving the Clan Eshin problem, Lokir Fellheart is just running a train on every faction in the area not led by a Legendary Lord and raiding your shit leading to annoyingly frequent rebellions until he also inevitably declares war on you.
-SURPRISE! Vilitch the Curseling, who declared war on you in like turn 3 and hasn't been heard from since, has *WALKED AROUND THE GREAT BASTION* and is blowing up all of your starting cities while your solving the Lokir Fellheart problem on the east side of Cathay.
-DOUBLE SURPRISE! Nakai the Wanderer and his vassal have shown up after you've got done wrestling Lokir and are dealing with your Vilitch infestation to instantly declare war on you for some reason.
Don't get me wrong, once you get done running around with your hair on fire and confederate your surrounding factions your an economical powerhouse. Mao Ying is absolutely a shit show for a first timer that you have to juggle or it spirals pretty fast though.

  • @joshwalton25

I gotta disagree on Ikit. If you take the vamps out super early, all the surrounding factions just declare on you sooner. Your starting army is strong, but you're boned if you lose any ratlings or jezzails and can't replace them right away.

    • @buttjunkie7956
      @buttjunkie7956 11 месяцев назад +1

Ikit is certainly one of the easiest factions, but perhaps only if you're already good at the game. Ikit benefits from being at war with everyone as it allows him and his lords to level up incredibly quickly, gain gold and warpfuel (or whatever the resource is). It's extremely safe due to 1) stalk + slow eastern approach to Skavenblight due to the marsh, making it easy to pick off armies one by one, and 2) if you need to, you can fall back to ambush outside skavenblight. And if you really need it, you can often nuke half an army.

Everytime I play Cathay, the North, the AI on the bastion will lose gates starting around turn 5. Fellhart will take Celestial Loyalists by turn 15-20. The Death master Skaven will take all the south, and be really messing up the other Cathay Legendary Lord, so anytime I play, I HAVE to go to war with all of the other Cathay factions to take their lands, and the gates.
Not once has the Cathay AI won a battle not against themselves when I play one of them, and they get steamroller. So I can't do diplomacy and try and get confederations.

I do agree with Lizardmen in general being number one. However, I would argue that Nakai is actually an easier campaign than Gor Rok. Sure, as of writing this comment, Nakai still can not recruit Kroxigor units without use of the Community Bug Fix mod, which will be fixed in 4.0 hopefully, but looking past that his campaign gets very easy very quickly. The early game is definitely harder as Nakai compared to Gor Rok, not arguing that, but with CA adding the ability for every Lizardman faction to acquire Lord Kroak at some point in the campaign that's not really a huge selling point in favor of Gor Rok. On top of that, the buffs Nakai gets throughout his campaign are absolutely busted. When you have all the temples you need built, you can doomstack pretty much any unit, that isn't a Skink unit or Temple Guard, except Blessed Chameleon Skinks, which you can literally spawn at your hearts content as Nakai. Not only those though, you can also spawn Blessed Saurus Warriors (Shields) which are some of the strongest front line units in the game, simply because of their Perfect Vigour and very good stats. Along with a lot of other very strong, spawnable-at-will blessed units at his disposal, and his Faction Mechanic that buffs a large amount of his roster, Nakai is easily the strongest Lizardman lord in the game right now in terms of unit strength.
None of the Lizardmen lords are really powerhouses by themselves, compared to some other lords at least, but I would argue that Nakai is probably the closest you can get to a one man Doomstack Lizardman lord. With him being able to get Unbreakable through his skill tree, up to 50% permanent Ward Save, if I remember that correctly, as well as Perfect Vigour without ever getting the Sword of Khaine, Nakai can easily take down mid game armies by himself. The only thing he really needs to be a one man Doomstack is regeneration of some sort. Sadly, the only way to get him natural regeneration is by getting Isabella's defeat trait, which you can only get if the end game crisis is the Vampire one, or someone in multiplayer decided to play Isabella. But even without that, you just need a Skink Oracle in your army to keep him healed up.
Plus you do not need to bother with settlement management, which really drops the skill requirement through the floor. As long as the player takes a quick look at the horde buildings for Nakai and newly recruited lords, there's very little they can do wrong when it comes to building. And on top of ALL of that, achieving the Short Game Victory lets you move across the world to Lustria, giving you early access to confederations with two other legendary Lizardmen lord and one minor Lord, should they survive the Skaven onslaught.

Shogun 2 has been the main game for me even with newer titles like Rome 2 but never tried out warhammer 3 until recently and I can tell you 8 out of 10 in this list require WH 1, 2 or dlc for the the previous 2 titles. I'd argue Oxyotl is alot easier than goroq, none of the dwarves have a 'easy' campaign especially not grimmy since withing turn 20 the entire might of the dark elf army will be marching to take your pathetic growth and replenishing army--- Dwarves also struggle way too much with grudges and money to make them 'fun' you need access to iconic buildings to get particular resources so you can utilize their Runes similar to Tomb Kings-- it takes FOREVER. And dah prophet over grom is just madness. You CAN actually lose battles with dah phrophet especially when you're new and don't understand things like miscast, winds of magic, and dueling. Dah prophet duels poorly , can be easily sniped by units and doesn't trade with artillery or ranged troops well. So you have to really be careful that he doesn't get sniped before u start raging down magic to help your pathetic, savage orcs...... Mean while grom regenerates, has insane buffs to his entire campaign and in battle, starts mounted and can go about anywhere--- flying lords can avoid him but he's overall a good balance

no way putting a dark elf on the list. They got armor piercing, super useful on the early game so far from like all the dwarves. they melee infantry is crap until tier 3 and even black ark corsairs (the mid tier good stuff) its terrible against high elfs, i play valkia just for the fun of dunking on them with basic marauders. And the combination of having close beast man and nuclear skaven plus a super weak legendary lord at a low level, fay is a noob dream isnt it?
But the rest i agree, nothing too stressful, cathay and high elves are rich, isolated and with good stuff amazing legendary lords, i would add taurox and valkia, what they have in common, they both dinner malekith.

I really don't think dwarfs are easy at all. They are quite simple, and their units are strong, however, they have NO source of replenishment, and their units are quite expensive, so re-recruiting after battle isn't very effective either. Your enemies show upp at your doorsep with full armies every 2 turn, while you have to wait 7 turns after a rough phyrric victory (with no unit losses mind you). You need to play every battle to minimize losses. Definitely not easy or noob-friendly.

Grombrindal is repeatedly listed as a difficult to very difficult campaign in Legendary and VH battles.
Not only to DE have armour piercing missiles from turn 1 and will spam them to counter you, but Grombrindal has no allies around him (it's possible to get an alliance with the tomb kings if you do it extremely early).
Then Grombrindal is a war machine, true, but in Legendary he will still not be able to be the wrecking ball he is on normal.
No way Grombrindal is one of the easiest campaigns in Legendary.
