She chose back up vocals over a solo career wasn't happy being in the lime light - a shame coz her vocals were up there with Mariah and Whitney - won a Grammy for this track and only released the one album in 1990.
She wanted to release a second album but it never came to be, timing was off, recordcompany cancelled it etc. she said in the documentary about back-up singers '20 Feet from Stardom'
She backs up The Rolling Stones...she good!! Not everyone wants the spotlight...it can be too much.

Yes Sir, Lisa Fischer is one of my most favorite female singer, and is one of the most underated dynamic female singer.. Her career kinda exploded when she started working with Luther Vandross.. Its seem like anyone who work with Luther either blow up or have a hit song.. She was a back up singer awhile for Luther.. She also sing and toured with the Rolling Stones...

Lisa Fischer features prominently in the documentary 20 Feet From Stardom. It’s an excellent documentary about back up singers which Lisa Fisher was for most of her career. She wasn’t happy with her solo career, and preferred being in the background. The documentary is fascinating.

Glad you listened to those who recommended the live version. Most underrated singer and performer of her generation. Lisa still performs in and around my native Brooklyn, she can still hit that F6, and is still just as beautiful. The uncrowned Queen of R&B.
