I've tried to get as many reactors as I can for many years to do Lisa. It just seems that most are not receptive. The most underrated singer of her generation. Lisa sang back up for Luther Vandross for 30 years and was the subject of the film "20 Feet From Stardom". Lisa is still alive, and performing in and around my native Brooklyn, she can still hit that F6, she is still as great a performer as she ever was...and she is as beautiful as ever.
@@sumi7579 Yes. But her work with those people was intermittent. She was with the 'Stones for 30 years as well, but they didn't have 100 dates a year like Luther. It was with Luther she was able to make a living...and yes, she was born and still lives just a few blocks from where I live.
Lisa's vocal acrobatics and holding those high notes reaching between F6 to G6 with very little effort is just masterful on the song. Then combining that with her emotions is the icing on the cake. Absolute perfection!
Lisa sang background for Luther Vandross, Dolly Parton, Bobby McFerrin, Beyoncé, and also toured with the Rolling Stones since 1989 for 26 years. She also sung for Tina Turner, Sting, Nine inch nails, and the Pussy Cat Dolls....just to name a few😉
Yes yes yes… You took the words from my mouth. She has put in so much work and prefers singing backup. Luther encouraged her to at least do an album of her own because she is so gifted. And she won a musical award, even beating out Patti Labelle. I just love her.
Lisa is one of the best voices in the business...we know her for her background vocals with Luther for many years so when this song came out we got ALL her glory...20+years later and she can still gives you beast mode with those notes....love her🖤
I went to that Earth Voice Concert in Tokyo in 1992. She was truly awesome. Her backup singers included Brenda Russell, Anita Baker, Roberta Flack and Phil Perry who were also performing in this benefit concert. At the top of her song, she spoke in Japanese saying Forgive me, I love you and whole audience applauded her.
She is a master. The background singer were all part of Luther Vandross's group. So was she. There are several songs where she sings duets with Luther. She is still singing. She'll be in San Francisco in November. I'll be there.
What’s so great about her singing back up for Luther is he sang back up for many artists like David Bowie. Luther knew what makes for an amazing back up singer so he only performed with the best! Lisa and Cindy Mizell (his other background singer) were in a class by themselves!
Lisa Fischer and Rachelle Ferrell you have really found the great singers. Sorry to say I don’t hear any comparable voices in today’s music. Maybe because R&B got put on the back burner of popular music, these artists aren’t encouraged to develop their talent. Thank you for bringing these ladies upfront. Fyi she’s still putting it out there
So happy you mentioned Rachelle Ferrell, have been a huge fan since she released her masterpiece R&B album 30 years ago. Her vocal gyrations on that album (and all the other ones as well) are right up there in Lisa's wheelhouse. Have been lucky to see her quite a few times live, always a jaw dropping experience
Lisa Fisher in her most humble, beautiful, effortless vocal qualities, is burning indelibly on the brain commanding our attention like flowers to rain… I am in love! ❤
Lisa is fabulous and still performing with that awesome voice. She received a Grammy for this song. Phil Perry is one of the background singers. Please check him out with Lee Rittenour, "Is it You ". He is absolutely incredible.
This is just one of the finest performance ever and one of the most soulful performance live on stage I have ever listened to. Being a fan of Whitney Celine and Mariah, hands down to Lisa. VOCAL BEAST!!!
If Lisa would of had the writers of a Whitney Houston or a Celine Dion ...She would of been the biggest and the most successful female Artist of all time ... Hands down her vocal ceiling was unlimited period..
Calm down and relax, my point is that this is a masterpiece. This was the one for her and she executed it by flawless victory. Plus having access to a great like Luther Vandross is a benefit.
@@NA-gd3sd but I'm not talking about this song which I agree it was a masterpiece.... Absolutely 💯...But I think you are missing what I was saying ... And this is what I'm talking about Whitney and Celine had great writers for their Albums all the time and Lisa didn't however Lisa's vocals were just as good if not even better than theirs but because she didn't have the same marketing team aswell as the top writers for her songs that would bring mega hits ...if you look back on her career this song was her biggest hit that she's ever done but had she had the same type of writers who Whitney had and Celine Dion had I'm telling you she would have gone down as one of the greatest if not the greatest female vocal of all time....her career as a dynamic vocalist should have had more hits ...that's all I'm saying...no disrespect it's just sometimes the best vocalist may not have the same favor as others ...
Can't sleep on Lisa and the list of talent she has done background and been on studio albums is long. She is brilliant. I got to see here not too long ago.

She still has no limits on her voice to this day in her early 60s. I saw her live in 2019, twice. The second time was when she did this song. You haven’t heard this song until you hear her do it NOW. So emotional. She ended the whole thing by scaling UP in what must’ve been a MIXED C6, paused, and then did the fastest downward scale from head voice into a bottom chest note. It must’ve been over 3 octaves in 3 seconds.
