You must mean Minnie Ripperton and Whitney because Mariahs whistle register is not strong like Lisa’s or Minnie Ripperton.. Minnie was the best to ever do it!
@@Jamiesearchaccount First let's understand. Lisa does not use whistle notes but rather a high head voice. Second Mariah IMO could do far more with her whistle notes than Minnie, although Minnie had a few personal tricks she could do very well. Mariah also never uses her whistle notes as much as Minnie and often, even in person, Mariah uses it as an emphasis rather than a display of "look at what I can do" or singing entire songs using it. Now that isn't a knock on Minnie who was really the first to showcase this skill, and is still the bench mark for it. But saying Lisa is a perfect combination of Whitney and Mariah seems valid.

Lisa has a talent she can roll with ANY genre. She sang back up for many great like Luther Vandross, goes toe to toe with Steve Tyler of The Rolling Stones as well as can lay it down in jazz as well as musicals/showtunes. She is comfortable singing with a band as well as a major orchestra. She is still doing it now, in her 60s and there are many clips of her on here changing it up to match her mood. She shared a Grammy for this song, timing with Patti LaBelle that year. You should check out her and the Stones doing "Gimme Shelter". She brings it to life almost as close to the original singer, Merry Clayton, a great in her own right (Singing this song in while in lat stages of pregnancy in the middle of the night) You can also hear Merry singing background on "Sweet Home Alabama". You asked why you haven't heard more of her. It is because she decided (after going solo) that a high profile career as a "star" was not the kind of life she wanted. So she opted out, and decided instead to work in support of others as backup, and to collaborate as a featured singer. Other commenters have already shared her decades-long association with The Rolling Stones and Luther Vandross, and many others. She now tours as a headliner, but in smaller venues.
I think that I'll be watching you guys in the future because you don't cut the music off every time just because you like something that said people are watching you reactions and y'all did just right you all its two of you and you musicians that makes it twice as good you all are not cutting it off so you can say this and you're not stopping it so you can say that you allow yourself to listen to something new and you got a chance to hear the full Lisa

Luther Vandross, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones, and others. Also, she won Grammy for this song. Best R&B vocal tied with Pattie LaBelle.
She was Luther's background singer or years and she came out around the same time as Mariah, she was huge in the rnb market off that 1 album but she never came back, I guess she knew the business was not for her as a recoding artist.
Anyway for either of them to bring a masterful sound to a song about rape and murder, where most people don't even pay it any attention, you've got to be good...

Watch the Oscar winning documentary, 20 Feet From Stardom. She explains why she stayed mostly a background singer.
That girl!!!
Lisa Fischer is a beast and does not get the credit she is due. So so underrated. If you have time watch her singing back ground for Luther Vandross on the song Superstar in the Live from Wemberly concert. Mastepiece. Have you heard any of Rachelle Ferrell or Layla Hathaway music. Another treat
That was my jam!!! Stayed on repeat. Love her❤
You asked why you haven't heard more of her.
You are listening to the highest order of vocal perfection there is.
She sounds great too when she sang with Mick Jager
Please react to Patti labelle “somewhere over the rainbow live at the Apollo 1989” - she blows the roof off the building!!!!!! 🙏🏽
Yes she was one of his Luther background singers. I heard her live when she opened up for Luther with that song and she was phenominal!❤❤❤

She is awesome!.now she does backup work
The patting is deep from the gut soulfullness😊
I saw her sing background vocals with the rolling Stones
You should check out her going toe to toe with Mick Jagger on "Gimmie Me Shelter " she toured with the Stones. She only put out 1 solo album. She's a famed session and background singer. Luther Vandross, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones, and others. Also, she won Grammy for this song. Best R&B vocal tied with Pattie LaBelle.
Yes! Great reaction sirs!!!
ooooo do Alright by Chante Moore live (preferably the one with her wearing a white shirt) next
Yyyeeesss
Lisa was one of Luther Vandross’s Extraordinary backup singers. Most Luther fans know the Amazingly Talented Lisa Fisher🤎🤎🔥 This song is a CLASSIC!🔥
She sung with Mick Jagger a lot, along with other singers
Lisa Fisher ❤
What made yall listen to her? You should check out Chante Moore
She was a backup singer for Luther Vandross and many others.
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have to review Lisa Fischer's "The Last Goodbye"...phenomenal!
powerhouse!!
Sing Lisa! ❤❤❤❤
She was Luther's background singer or years and she came out around the same time as Mariah, she was huge in the rnb market off that 1 album but she never came back, I guess she knew the business was not for her as a recoding artist. When she did that whistle Mariah was the only other singer doing that so that was what made her real famous!
Another amazing female singer you should check out is Rachelle Farrell (With Open Arms: Live @ the Apollo).
You two are so CRAZY!!! Thanks for playing Evey one of my reguests...well most of them.😆Especially Lisa Fischer. But, But, But!
