Yess!! Shes IN-credible. one of the most underrated singers. Her story is in a really interesting documantary called "20 feet from stardom" about incredible backing singers.

For many years Lisa, along with the great Ava Cherry, was the back up singer for Luther Vandross. This is from her one and only album, which received a Grammy award. Lisa, although clearly a master performer as well, never sought the spotlight. She is still alive and occasionally performs in and around my native Brooklyn. A classy lady with an incredibly underrated voice. A voice that, IMO is on par with any of her generation. I wish more people would react to this great talent.
I had thought she died. She came out with that album...that I still have...then nothing. I wonder what happened to her.

Lisa is a beast of singer. She was a background singer who put out only one album. From what I understand, being a star didn't quite fit what she wanted so she backed away. She did the right thing because with her full package, she was going to be HUGE! This was her first single and it was a smash.

I had only heard Lisa Fischer because of the collaborations with The Rolling Stones... She also sounds amazing on those rock tracks because of the epic pipes ❤️
I feel so blessed that I got to see her do this live. She sang backup on every Tina Turner show I saw since 96. And on the last tour in 2009, Tina got her to sing this!! I can't count the number of shows I've been to where she was singing back up. She opted to be the most sought after back up singer, rather than a star herself.

She can stand flat footed and just "sang" soulful, sultry, beautifully. When she hits the high notes at the end she sounds very Minnie Rippertonesque. For those of you who don't know who the iconic singer Minnie Ripperton is you probably know her comedic actress daughter on Saturday Night Live Maya Rudolph.
If you're looking for more reaction on Lisa you won't find much as a solo artist. She is amazing. If you are a fan of Luther Vandross then you know she one of his powerhouse background singers. This is get only single.

I love her. I have this album on cassette. It was one of the thousands of analog songs I repurchased or converted to digital so I could put it on my IPod. It came out in 1990 or 1991. I know she won a Grammy for this. She tied with Patti Labelle for best female r&b vocal performance. She goes back quite a ways. She was a back up singer for David Bowie (Young Americans) and for Luther Vandross. She was in some documentary on Netflix about backup singers. Twenty feet from greatness.
She also sang on the song she tied with.

@@finnthiesen5201 Whitney was amazing in the head voice but it can't be compared to Lisa, Lisa is better at the technical level. Whitney went as far as supporting a C#6 in the head voice and Lisa up to a G6.

Very honest review! Enough to subscribe. Lisa Fisher is one of the top performers ever. Otherwordly talent. She is also so cool. Look for interviews and you will see a lovely artist who has a very smooth voice and personality on and off stage. I discovered that song few years ago, I couldn't believe my ears although I was watching with my eyes that same LIVE you reviewed. I did not have any idea Lisa Fisher existed. Shame on me. If we talk talent, real vocal talent, this woman should be like the Callas of Soul, you know, something along those lines. A very human, soulful perfomance, in the beginning there are few micro-adjustments until she sets her voice and shoots for the stars. A beautiful song that hardly anyone else, dead or alive, could enrich with so many colors. I love Lisa Fisher! Thank you for the review!
