“She can sing high.”.... ooohhh Jack, that’s not her final form 😁
@@JackReacts904 She's talented like Mariah and Whitney. Her vocals.💓💓💓
The live version is even on another level ...
@@chilady007 Definitely 🥰
Lol right!!
Her voice is over 9000!
FYI, the live version of this song is RIDICULOUS
For real. I am addicted to that Live performance. She's like Whitney and Mariah had a daughter. Vocally wise.
Fighter Lamb yes I agree! She’s got Whitney’s beautiful tone and power with a range like Mariah!
Yes it does! She's one of the very few singers where live vocal surpasses the record.
Amen!
Yes it is. I’m stuck on that video.
When you said “oh she can get high too” I cackled like “oh sir, you have NO IDEA what’s about to happen!”
Yassss
Right me tooo 😭😭😭
Wig snatched!
LITERALLY WHAT I SAID!! 🤣😂😂
I fell out watching his reaction when she really put it on him! Especially when he says "WHAT?!?!" with that stank face on! Then when he asks "How many different octaves does she hit in this song?" LMFAO!!!
The live version of this is actually insane
@@JackReacts904 Yes Please Do The Live Version Please I Promise You You Gone Fall Out Your Seat!
Did Jack ever do the live version, because that is mind blowing.
Oooookkaaay! I’ll be 42 this June. This new girls ain’t singing nowadays. They just making boos. They ain’t feeling their music and being emotional connected to their songs. And they have no real talent.
Facts
Yes! The highly underrated and underappreciated Lisa Fischer! She used to sing background vocals for Luther Vandross, too. And Luther was no joke when it came to his singers.
And also the Rolling Stones.
@@rhondalumpkins6003 for decades. She's a crowd favorite for sure.
In 1993 I saw Lisa Fischer as the Opening act for Luther Vandross Konzert Live in Frankfurt / Germany. It was my 2nd Concert by Luther Vandross, Luther Vandross was one of the greatest and best Singers in Soul and R&B Music. I've been a Fan of his since 1986, when I saw his first Concert, so Fantastic.
The Morning is like the Smile, Greetings from Heidelberg / Germany
Where y'all getting this underated from? I saw where the same was said of Tina Marie. Underated by this generation only? We old school, and some of the young that know good music, knows Lisa and Tina are beasts on the mic!
she performed with Madonna on Live8 back in 2005 too
Lisa Fischer appears in “20 Feet From Stardom” a documentary 20+ years after her only solo album was released. She explains she was working on a second album when she realized she didn’t want to be a solo artist and all that comes with it so her second album was never completed. She’s more comfortable being a background singer living a normal life.
That was a good movie. It never occurred to me any backup singer would not want a solo career.
godivadark That’s the wild thing about her. She sings for the sake of song. She loves music, as stated in an interview: I wouldn’t be alive right now without music
#facts... I was going to write the same, but you saved me time. ;)
Oh wow! So that's what happened
godivadark It was very interesting. Makes sense though, not everyone wants the fame and stress that comes with being a star
Lisa Fischer is terribly underrated. Her voice is so hypnotic and soothing at the same time. Beautiful is such an understatement to fully describe her.
Check out the '20 feet From Stardom' documentary, which won an Oscar!! Featuring her and other underrated female vocalists. I just found it last night!! I think it's on Netflix or Hulu??And people forget that she won a Grammy for this song, beating out Patti Labelle (my living legend!), Aretha Franklin and Vanessa Williams. I'm still amazed by her talent, even today! On my playlist right now!
Tiyonda Valentine Thank you for the info. This sounds interesting. Have to check it out. And, I agree, her talent is phenomenal 🙌
Horribly underrated!
You must do the mother of the “whistle note”... Minnie Riperton Loving You
Yes I agree, I recommend reacting to the Original Songbird and Mother of the Whistle Note in pop music who inspired Mariah Carey to do it, Minnie Riperton and her song Lovin You, you will be amazed at her voice.
She is the mother of the high note...the mother of the whistle is Phyllis Hyman....her song Living All Alone...that's her whisting at the end
Yessss!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!!
That actually isn't a whistle note
You should do Michel’lé “Something in My Heart” Very unique. She has a speaking voice that sounds like a child/cartoon, but a very powerful singing voice when she sings. 🤯🤯🤯
It’s been uploaded! 🙂
Lisa is widely considered one of the best singers ever. She actually walked away from a solo career because she didn't want that kind of pressure. Watch 20 Feet From Stardom and you learn more about her.
She used to sing back-up for Luther Vandross ☺️
@@JackReacts904 We need some solo Luther Vandross moments on the channel, please 🙏 💁🏽♂️
And Chaka Khan
And the Rolling Stones
And Tina Turner during her farewell tour I believe.
And the Stones
One of the greatest songs, singers and live performances ever. Ever ever.
Ms. Fischer is a masterclass in vocals.
When I saw the title I screamed with joy. Thank you. Lisa is a master vocalist. She's still performing in her 60s with that incredible range. She won a Grammy for this song . She started background for Luther and sang with the Rollling Stones and many others.
Next you have to hear today's vocal beast Yebba (My Mind) live performance.
Love you and thanks again.
You should definitely react to Tender Kisses by Tracie Spencer next.
I love that song
Yes I love that song!
I love that song, but how do you go from Lisa Fischer to squeaky Tracy Spencer? Opposite ends of the talent spectrum.
@@brynneholt1990 Right!🤣 I like TS music, but she’s not even in the same stratosphere as Lisa honey!!
I think you will appreciate George Michael's music... One More Try and Father Figure
And Fastlove!
I discovered that from a cycling video lol
Love Freedom and Praying for Time.
Karen White and the song is Superwoman! I promise you, you will love it!
Great song... I like Romantic by Karen White.
Great pick. That’s one of my favorite vocals of all time. Beautiful song too.
I KNOW RIGHT BUT I THINK SHE SPELLS IN KARYN WITH A Y
Wendy Moten "Come On In Out The Rain."
IMO, Lisa Fischer has one of the best voices ever, and she could have definitely been as successful as the divas from the 90’s. She wrote this, saw it go to #1 on R&B, won a Grammy for it... and then she didn’t do much else as a solo artist. What a tragedy! She went on to continue being a background singer for legendary artists like The Rolling Stones and Tina Turner. I really wish she had the chance to put out a second album back then.
I don't think she was comfortable as a solo singer
Pop Land Yeah. She mentioned in the 20 Feet from Stardom doc that she had problems with the label, so the 2nd album never happened. Luther was the one who convinced her to step out of the background and go solo. I just wished she’d stayed a little longer...
Yeah she didn’t like the spot light and chose to go back to obscurity. We were lucky to get the one and only album she delivered though.
@@WhitneyR. It would be great if she had a larger body of work. However, I can understand Lisa, as a sensitive soul, wanting to avoid the pressure of solo fame
Some ppl just aint built for fame
Her live version of the song Dambala is almost spiritual
@@JackReacts904 The crowd look almost in a trance at the end
I just checked that song out and it did nothing for me. After doing research, I know why.
@@sugarbaby547 Why did it do nothing for you? Fischer incorporates the use of a newly well developed lower register and piercing headvoice notes over the backdrop of a haunting message.
It's about the slaves of the West Indies and their protest against the unjust
@@sugarbaby547 What research did you do exactly? Lisa Fischer was giving a tribute to the late great Nina Simone, an icon in music and the song touches on the enslaved West Africans in the West Indies.
Her version is amazing.
I love the studio recording. But you have to..like HAVE TO...react to her live performance of this song! Again...like you HAVE TO! Lol! 🤣
P.S. HAVE👏🏾TO👏🏾!!!!!!! LOL!
Yes, this version is really good but the live version is amazing
He absolutely has to
An absolute must! 🙌🏾
100%
Yasss @ the bridge! It always stuns me. What I like about her upper register is that she has so much control there. You can clearly hear her enunciate the last part all the way through all the octaves and back down: “how can I ease it?” The fact that she could do it live exactly like that was crazy! My other fav Lisa song is an album track called Last Goodbye. She also does a great live performance of Gimme Shelter with The Rolling Stones.
Truly stunning
I want you - Marvin Gaye
Fastlove - George Michael
You will not be dissapointed ;)
Keep doing what you're doing man!
If we're doing George Michael One More Try has to be first. Careless Whisper and Father Figure are up there to.
@@bojohns77 I 100% agree. One More Try is a much better into to George Michael. I love Fastlove, too, but there's no comparison. And Careless Whisper
Whenever I have a conversation about vocalist.. Lisa Fischer is on my list... the live version sounds better I believe... thanks for the reaction
Do chante moore "IT'S ALRIGHT LIVE"
Yes Sir! RIGHT ON & AMEN! I just posted a comment about THE INSANE! vocal ability of that woman is like WOW!
Alexander O'neil,"Saturday Love""if you where here tonight"
Man please do michell'e something in my heart
I did tell you she was as good as Whitney or Mariah. The live version from Tokyo is even better. You really get to see her performance skills and she sings this with more passion. Lisa is still alive and performing here around my native Brooklyn on occasion. I'm glad you heard me and had a chance to hear Lisa who IMHO is the most underrated singer of her generation. Range, control, timbre (a prettier and richer timbre than Mariah IMO), sensuality, and the ability to sell out and make you feel her emotions behind the lyric. Again, do the live performance from Tokyo, Japan and you'll see she is an incredible performer as well.
I came here for 5:38 reaction of the best note 😯😯😯😁
And people got the nerve to call Beyonce GOAT😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Beyoncé is still amazing. Don’t do that. Range is not everything.
Beyonce has really good range. She just doesn’t always use it. Her live performances are when you get to see her real vocal abilities. Kinda like when she she did that short operatic run at Coachella a couple of years ago.
@@MS-kt8vl Aaliyah was amazing,Teena Marie was amazing, Whitney Houston was amazing
Her voice is so INCREDIBLE I was like 😳 during the hole video😂
Thank you so much Jack for your hard work as always❤️❤️
Amira if you think she slayed please find the live version
Rochelle Robinson I’m gonna listen to the live version rn! Thanks:)
Amira do it and let me know what you think ☺️☺️
Amira this version here. ruclips.net/video/stqMMW6bX_U/видео.html
Rochelle Robinson I was speechless during the whole performance!! I LOVE her powerful voice too much. She slay that performance. Thank you😊💕
--Lisa Fischer was a well respected backup singer for artists across many genres. She was encouraged to go solo so she took the chance. She was very laid back and naturally sexy. For her first album her record company gave her this over the top sex kitten makeover that she pulled off but wasn't comfortable with how far they wanted her to go with it. After seeing the video for her second single "save me," she was mortified. She decided to take a stand and told the record company she wanted to tone down the sexiness or she won't film another video. The record company released the third single without a video and refused to give her another album in retaliation. She went back to singing background and deprived the world of hearing that amazing voice at the forefront in its prime.
--Interestingly, Mariah Carey was also a background singer who came out around the same time and she had the reverse of this problem. When Mariah's album dropped the record company wanted her to have this wholesome image that she kept up for her first few albums. Once she divorced Tommy Mottolla, she literally busted out of her clothes by donning a bathing suit and showing a whole lot of skin in her "Honey" video. The "Honey" video is said to be a protest of her breaking free from Mottolla. The two of them have more than just the whistle register in common.
--Lisa Fischer was inadvertently caught up in a feud between En Vogue and Luther Vandross. Both sides were going back and forth in the press (keep in mind there was no social media back then) when Luther dropped the final diss saying he had a background singer who could sing En Vogue under a bus. He was referring to Lisa Fischer.
--In 1992 there was a rare tie at the Grammy's for best RnB vocal performance. Lisa won with this song and Patti Labelle won for "Burnin." Lisa sang background on "Burning" so she technically won twice.
--There were rumors of her being either lesbian or bisexual and some speculate that factored into her decision to shy away from the spotlight. It was a different time back then.
Do Miki Howard: "Love Under New Management" & "Come Share My Love"!
Yass!!!
Yessss
Lisa Fischer is a vocal legend. She has done background for so many legendary artist from Luther Vandross to The Rolling Stones just to name a few. Her live performances are other worldly. Glad you enjoyed her!!!
Throwback classic. Three 6 Mafia samples this on their song "Late Night Tip".
They sure did
I’m glad you did Lisa. She can SANG and doesn’t get the props she deserves.
I forgot all about this song! I wish she had a bigger career. You should do deborah cox "Nobody' Supposed to be Here"
I can explain- Rachelle Ferrell (live)
Possibly THE best vocalist ever, she uses her voice like an instrument. Her style is not for everyone but I find it so soulful, encapturing.
She is definitely on the same level vocally as Lisa Fischer, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey etc.
YES
Her and Mariah came out around the same time album wise and back then people used to compare their whistles on who’s was better. Lisa has been in the business for years before that. She was Luthers premiere back up singer. They said she didn’t like the lime light after this success, that’s why she never came back to do another album. Her live version at the Apollo theater show. Check it out!!!!!
its almost opera .. i love this
So incredibly underrated she is 😩 please check out the live version!
Orgasmic, seriously she is a vocal powerhouse!
If you like Lisa Ficsher, you will love MICKIE HOWARD ....
Now you have to do the live pronto lol
If you like this, her live redintion of Dambala is amazing
That song is fire!!
I have always said Lisa Fisher is my favorite one hit wonder star of All Time. How Can I Ease The Pain is in my top 10 favorite songs of All Time. When this song came out back then I played it non stop. I actually bought her album just for this song. It's a shame she didn't blow up after this because she was one of the top vocalists, but you got to realize this song blew up when our Top Divas were Janet, Whitney, Mariah, and Madonna. If you were not either of these 4 women it was really hard to blow up on that Iconic level, because these 4 women were shutting all the shit down in the late 80's and all of the 90's PERIOD. Another great reaction Jack. Love you my guy.
You should DEFINITELY do the live version (the one in Japan). You won't be disappointed!!
If you like this, check out the video of her singing it live. (It's in color, and she's wearing a black blazer and black short shorts)
Lisa Fischer has spent a lot of her career singing background vocals along with Cissy Houston(Whitney's mom) for Luther Vandross.
This woman is a tremendous singer. This song was a huge hit sultry glamorous and sensual. This song lived on the radio and she got a Grammy. She is the real deal. Those notes are blessed to her Mariah Carey and the late greatest Minnie Riperton
You need to watch her live version in Japan of her singing this song. Her vocal is even better
Not m any main stream have had that "whistle registry" - Lisa Fisher, Minnie Ripleton, Dennis Williams, Mariah, Arianna, Adam Lopez, and Georgia Brown - Im sure there are more but that's main stream.
It amazes me that such immense talent was more comfortable as a back up singer.
Her live performance of this song is soooooooo much better. But this was good. Thanks Jack! This was highly anticipated on my part. 🙏🏾
THIS beautiful song won a grammy and till this day is one of my FAVORITE of ALL time,..LOVE MS. Fisher
I wish you reacted to the live performance of this instead of the studio since I think she did so much better live tbh
I agree, I love this song by Lisa Fisher, it always give me chills. Her vocal control is crazy, 🤦🏽♀️ I have played this song on repeat soo many times 👍🏽
this is not the oneeeeeee, you needed to do the LIVE version... ugh!!! this is not the best one.
you definitely need to react the live version, its 10x better! her ending will wow you!
You listen to Lisa's Fischer live concert to truly enjoy her true range of octaves levels! Definitely listen to her live version!
You have to react to Minnie Ripperton's Here we go/ Loving You and Inside My Love.
Phyllis Hyman's Living All Alone
She was Luther Vandross' back ground singer!
Please react to "I Care About You" by Milestone (music video)
I suggested them as well
Deborah Cox-Nobody Supposed to Be Here Classic
React to Taylor Dayne' Love will lead you back.
Ms Lisa Fischer is a sick singer, she can throw down!! I'd love if you reacted to her live performance of Dambala. It's a song about slavery that is incredibly moving
Minnie Rippleton is the first singer to introduce whistle singing notes her song called Loving You...
Lisa studied to be a opera singer but she liked to hang out in the clubs
The first Whistle she was a very low whistle note, it could be confused with head voice, however the second whistle was a little higher, Lisa has a total of 6 octaves she is capable of singing, right behind Mariah's 7 octaves😌
Can you please please please react to Lisa Fischer Dambala
Damn young man just from this reaction I see you have a special taste in music mad respect for that
You gotta do the live version of this.........OMG!!
Lisa should have been a HUGE star.
Lisa Fischer live performance of this is even better, never witnesses anyone with so much breath control. She was so in tune. EVER singer should watch her live performance in take notes. #Iconic 🙌🏽🕊️🕊️🕊️
Love your critiques of the music. I can't believe how young you are with such a feel for music! You're always on point! Your passion is inspiring to this jaded 55 year old! You're proof that old and young can learn from each other. Keep it up young buck! You give me faith in your generation!💯
Chills EVERY TIME… even after 30+ years !!! Nobody does it like LISA.
My goosebumps get goosebumps when she hits those high notes! 😱😱😱🔥🔥🔥
Lisa won a Grammy for best R&B vocal for this song. She consistently sang background for Luther Vandross. A true gem, she's still on the scene today.
She shared the Grammy with Patti Labelle which is very interesting
the live version is FIREEE
I think she is second only to Whitney Houston honestly!!
The live performance is actually better.....you have to do a reaction to the live version bro
Hi Jack. Can you react to Tevin Campbell's "Tell me What you want me to do?
Lisa has one of the greatest voices of alltime. I went to see her at Barbican in London some years back. No words can do justice to her performance that night.
Fun Fact ... She was Luther Vandross back Up singer ... pure 🔥🔥🔥
Lisa is STR8 Fire....Her voice is a instrument blessed by GOD. Hey Jack check out Minnie Riperton Lisa Fischer and Mariah Carey give props to her. I recommend Minnie Riperton's Here We Go & Back Down Memory Lane and Inside My Love.....NOW her voice is PURE MAGIC!! # Lot of singers credit her for being amazing!!
Rachelle Ferrell- I can explain (live)
Whitney Houston- I am changing (live 1986)
Mariah Carey- you’re so cold
Luther vandross- going in circles
Minnie Riperton- inside my love
Bobby Caldwell- can’t say goodbye
Allure- head over heels
Janet Jackson- rope burn
Björk- it’s oh so quiet
D’angelo- untitled (how does it feel)
Gwen Stefani- luxurious
Yay! I requested this awhile back! One of my fav ballads. Please look for her live performance where she is not wearing pants (lol). She killed it!
That's not a whistle! That's her voice and Mariah is great but Lisa has the BEST VOICE ON THE PLANET!!!
A little bit about Ms. Fischer...
She was part of that Oscar-winning documentary, "20 feet from Stardom."
She did have her flash in the pan album - "So Intense," which included her rendition of "Wildflower," with the one and ONLY Luther backing HER up.
She decided to be comfortable where she was at (i.e., behind stuff), and that was totally cool. STILL love her voice, though.
(Apologies if this has been already mentioned.)
That's a baddddd assess woman here!!! Always have been, that woman is a GREAT singer and has a great voice for real. Check out the late great Phyllis Hyman, Martha Wash, Cheryl Lynn, Lisa Stansfield. Oh and Mikki Howard too.
You should've went with the live version performed in 1992
You should really have seen the live version just incredible ...'' HOW CAN I EASE THE PAIN'' won a grammy with her 1st and last album ,to many in the industry she could have equaled Whitney and Mariah's success if she had pursued a solo career but instead went back to back vocals for Luther,Rolling Stones etc etc . This girl could SANG.
Jack you just GOT to check her out in Luther Vandross Live at Wembley. This whole show is out of this world. Please Please check it out. It will blow your mind. Talk about production🙂🙂
"...a really good toxic relationship..." is the best inspiration for these kinds of songs. So glad that she chose not to go down the solo road. #saved
Like many others wrote, the live version of this will drop your jaw. I love "Wildflower" (remake) on her So Intense album. This entire album is excellent.
Jack…..The one thing that sets her apart from Toni Braxton and Anita Baker is the fact that her lyrics are very clear instead of being muffled and hard to understand at times. You by far are the most soulful reactor on RUclips I’ve viewed this far. I’m sure you will appreciate the live versions of Al Green “God blessed our love,” David Peaston’s “Can I,” and Teddy Pendergrass’s cover of “Lady.” You can’t go wrong with any of those songs and you’ll thank me later as to sending these recommendations your way to react to. I’m sure you’ll do them Justice. Their exceptional talent on display is a joy to experience. You can find them here on RUclips.
Jack you NEEEED to react to the live version!!!!
Luther Vandross pushed Lisa Fischer into the limelight because she does not like that attention and she ended up winning a Grammy before he did. She tied with singer Patti LaBelle for the Grammy best female artist. So Lisa Fischer got a Grammy for "How Can I Ease The Pain" and sang background on the song that Patti LaBelle got a Grammy for I believe it was Burnin'.
Man! u gotta check out the live version. she killed it crazy!!!!!!!!! Please check it out
You look too young to be feeling this the way you do...giving that "stank face" is the best compliment you can give someone who can "sang" like this. You've come a long way in 3 years bro, great reactions always.
SO FUN to see Lisa on your channel!! 90’s baby!
I'm telling you jack, you gotta do the live one. Not for us, but do your life a favor. If you think she had it like that on the record, the live is TRULY mindblowing. If you think no-one could top whitney or mariah she slayed everyone on that live. Never heard vocals like that before or after that live and doubt I ever will.
As Luther Vandross said "she's bad! she really really Bad! Which you have to be to back up Luther..
