Tommy Shaw: such a great guitarist and singer. I’m 55. I grew up on his early Styx stuff. So good!!!!!!
Watch Tommy at Daryls House, amazing! Your welcome:🤘
Right there with you buddy. Why in God’s name isn’t he in the RRHOF?
You want what Rockers SHOULD be? Tommy Shaw everyone. This dude has been rocking non-stop for 50 years and his vocals are just as good as they were in the 80s… and even more on key. And most of all, a good human being!
I love Tommy , fantastic guitarist song writer, singer etc. etc.
STYX - Crash of the Crown = best album of 2021 IMO. Hail!
100 % respect for Tommy 1 of the rare true opened and humble rock artist!!
Saw Styx two weeks ago in Dallas. Amazing energy and strong voices. Talent for days. I’m 17 again! Thanks Tommy, yeah you rock!
My first ever vynil album was Styx Conerstone, i was 14 and i'm now 58. God bless Styx for everything that they gives to their fans. Tommy shaw is an amazing artist, great composer singer and guitarist. A natural! Ive always been and always be a huge fan of Styx.
Shaw was the Rock part of Styx. Dennis always seemed to me wanted to be a Broadway show.
Don't believe the narrative, they were all into it in those days. It was the time of Meatloaf, The Tubes, Alice Cooper...
He's one of the musical healers . and what a 🙏survivor. I also followed (and bought) his solo work .
Too Much Time On My Hands, Boat on the River, and She Cares are always on my play list. Great to see Tommy doing so well.
I've watched styx live many times and they are always amazing.
I saw Tommy on Darryl's House & he was great. Darryl Hall's house...
Saw them on tour for this tour. Great show all the way through. Tommy's voice and guitar playing are amazing!
TOMMY SHAW ROCK'S
Hi! Love Tommy Shaw’s hair being long!! Hope he lets it grow some more!! Love AXS TV and the interviews!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
When I joined the Air Force in 1978 in Raleigh, Nc. there was guy that said he was Tommy's brother. I always wanted to confirm that. Can you help ? Rock On Tommy...
Saw them last night with REO and Loverboy and the whole concert was AH-MAZING!! They all play like they are still 20 year olds. God bless!
I think I think the guys who call themselves ticks are pieces of crap they stole the band from Dennis DeYoung they're assholes
whole lota talent!
Styx is an amazing band. This summer series is just amazing. Mike Reno’s voice and the bands talent is just top shelf.
Tommy is the best!!!! And this summer tour is amazing!!!! All 3 bands are on fire!
I am glad that Dennis is no longer in the band
He is a terrible musician. Tommy was always the one who controlled the band even in the 60's before he joined. Dennis did nothing for the band. I am so happy that he is gone
All his songs that he was credited for were actually written by Tommy
Dennis you should be ashamed of yourself!. 😂
Such an amazing human being!! So respectful to his fans and committed to extending his legacy every day! 🎸💎
You forgot to mention Dennis. He has been so nice to him over the past twenty years. He is so nice that he was awarded the Styx name. Nice Guy 👍
Such a nice guy. Just enjoying where he is in life, who he is now, at this point. So good to be able to travel with and work with people who love and appreciate you. Such a gift to be able to keep creating and performing new work, while treasuring the gems from his past. Haste makes waste every time, when you're waiting for your time to come as you sail away in your boat on the river. Good that he still has his wonderful life, and its not gone..gone...gone. 😉👌
This guy is the personification of someone who does what he does for the fans and the music. A great super accomplished musician, but not hung up on self indulgence.
Love Tommy Shaw. Got to see Styx at the Ryman in Nashville a few months ago. Great concert!
Count on you is my top favorite song greatest of all time❤❤❤
I’ve been a long time Styx fan, even before Tommy was part of the band. But I am a big fan of Tommy. I have seen Styx several times. My first time I got to see them was in Cincinnati for the Paradise Theatre tour. I now live in Oregon and psyched to see them as they are coming to Bend OR in June 2024. They are touring with Foreigner and John Waite. Keep rocking Tommy!! You are awesome!!
Saw the live and unzoomed concert a couple of weeks ago. Seems that every song Styx did got a huge reaction from the crowd. One song will be over and then bam! another great song. Anyon that hasn't seen this concert, I highly recommend it.
One of my favorite musicians. God bless Tommy Shaw
Nice interview! Thanks! I'm going to see Styx and REO and Lover boy tonight! 4th time for me to see Styx - love Tommy Shaw!
Saw you in Grand Rapids. Awesome!!! Keep it going
Such a nice humble guy and a legend - great voice and musician ....also looks great for his age :)
Please reunite with Dennis - even just for one mega show in Chicago. Please!
Love Tommy Shaw !!
Idol Tommy shaw!!!!
Such a talented musician. One of my favorite bands too. I always liked the tunes he sang with them, even more so than the Dennis DeYoung tunes- albeit also great! Love his down to earth, even humble, demeanor.😎
Dennis did absolutely nothing for Styx. Tommy did everything even wrote all of Dennis's songs. Tommy founded the band and hired Dennis while he was playing at a strip bar. That is where he met Suzanne. Dennis, as Sean Morrison would say, "Shame, Shame, Shame" Go back to the Damm Yankees and make fun of Two much Time on my Hands.
The harmonics with him and Tommy Shaw were unbelievable
Tommy Is The man....One of my idols growing up as a singer...thanks man...Joe from Staten Island
I've been a Styx fan for decades and so has my wife been. Can't wait to see them with Larry Gowan as soon as they come to Toronto! Been a fan of Larry forever.
Saw Styx twice in the past year. Totally AWESOME!!!!
I seen Styx with Kanas in Portland years ago, and they were great!
Hi Katie! You always add great energy to the interview. I’ve seen Styx several times and they never disappoint. That tour lineup is awesome. Unfortunately Montana isn’t a great tour destination. Thanks for being you.
He is amazing. Look forward to seeing them.
I love listening to them
Saw them in Charlotte last night man it was packed and they rocked the place out!!! It was amazing..
Always a fan still love Styx today I've seen them three times great show
Styx is timeless! Tommy is a legend!! Seen them twice in the last 4 years and they kill it every time!!!! However, Katie is so damn cute also!!!
Love this man!! So talented!
U r excellent at what u do -don't ever stop!
Tommy you were great last Saturday Aug 13th 2022. You rock on that stage like a 20 year old. Love it. You sound awesome. I had a great time. Keep on Rockin.
This woman has great hair
I saw y'all at coastal credit amphitheater in Carolina y'all rocked
I am a walrus cover by Styx was the best cover by any band i have ever heard laugh it makes me say thank you guys much will be a fane forever
A great southern Boy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
" the mission" is the best album Styx EVER made. It's incredible that a band did their best album 50 years in. Usually when an old band puts a new album out, I glaze over unexcited. For decades, Equinox and Grand Illusion stood way ahead of Brave New World and Cyclorama. Cyclorama interested me, it showed their was still some possibility there. I'm a drummer, and some of the stuff Todd does on The Mission, I can't even comprehend much less duplicate. Some of the complicated timing arrangements on the Mission would not have been possible without one of the finest drummers out there. Todd could fill in for the greatest jazzfusion bands. Older bands always say " we don't play more than 2 tracks from our new album because everyone heads to the bathroom". That's true 99% of the time and I usually agree, most times new songs are lackluster. On the Mission tour, I didn't want to hear the OLD SONGS, I only wanted to hear the whole new album LOL
The Mission is an attempt to do what Dennis DeYoung did. I would not mind if any of these guys did these albums if they would acknowledge their roots are in what Dennis brought to the band. Completely disavowing Dennis, which Styx has done, makes everything this imitation, which I call PseudoStyx, valueless in my eyes. The Mission is a tribute to Dennis DeYoung without acknowledging him.
@@elliothass7000 I love the Mission so much, it pains me that Tommy is the main one who's against a dennis reunion. I don't like Glen and I picture Dennis singing the Mission. Even if by some miracle, they reunited with Dennis, they wouldn't play the Mission though, it would be greatest hits. Either way, they should reunite for one tour - Dennis is all for it. Let it go Tommy - don't go to your grave angry
I saw the Cincinnati Show actually just Styx at Hard Rock Cafe. Then with REO and Loverboy I went by myself to that show front row center....
I was upset no Crystal Ball or Man in the Wilderness....my personal favorites You were speaking of songs I get words stuck in my head and I have to write type them down or they don't go away. It happens mostly after some type of injustice happens somewhere. I am a woman in the wilderness with a crystal ball in this world that makes no sense at all
I do have a question about AXIS TV. Where is all the music it seems to be less and less ?
Love STYX and last saw them way back on their Mr. Roboto your, don’t tell Tommy, they were fantastic then and I hope they still have some life left in them when I see them in a couple of weeks at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island, NY
How was it? I saw them last night in Bridgeport and they were incredible, all of them!
@@daneen2fabulous They and Tommy and even JY were terrific.
Concerts just aren't loud enough anymore. Imho. And, the show must end by 10 pm! Noise ordinances!
If I was to get just one wish, Don't Tread was such a good album and Damn Yankees disappeared to quick. If you guys were to put out another bad ass album. That would blow my mind!
What a good lookin’ gal!
Love him , did you name your chickens , i had pet chickens , cat and dogs growing up . We had one rooster named rusty , so when we move our neighbor got the chickens.
Hey lets see Styx play next year Mike America but at album speed unlike in 2012
Hey Tommy, 70 is not old anymore! Its the new 50. I mean just remember Tony B.!

Hi
let Dennis back in the band
That cat is so cute. Is he a Dennis fan?
@@James-ko3gw She was more of a JY fan but loved Kevin Cronin more, sadly Ginger passed away on the 12th of last month
@@jdekong3945 I am sorry. There are many cats out there that need a home 🏡
@@James-ko3gw Thanks James, we still have her son, Tiger. When the time comes we`ll adopt a new little madam, hopefully a De Young fan! Have a great Easter weekend sir
@@jdekong3945 you know what George Carlin said about cats. He said they are so cute that they have two names. Kitty cat 😺
Why don't you just give Dennis a phone call? No reunion, just to say hi. I was watching a video the other day when Tommy was at a book store with Dennis none months before the separation and you both looked happy
Give him a call before someone dies.
She made a joke when they were talking about the chickens and said "too much time on your hands," likely a reference to the Styx song. Tommy didn't get the joke.
Nah..I'll wait for Dennis De Young to tour.
Great to see Tommy Shaw is still rocking and playing, but Why ask or talk about "Chickens" and Outerspace??? I Wish you discussed more about the music past and present or tracks from different albums he likes to perform, his time with Damn Yankees, or even his new song with Alan Parsons Project which is really cool. Sorry, but this interview was lame. 😞
Maybe you should get your own show and then you can ask what you want 😂 your comment is lame 😂✌🏻
@@dalenaadams7920 if Tommy shaw killed someone with a smoking gun, you would be making excuses for him. The person made a valid point about the interview. Do you tell everyone you don't agree with to start their own channel ? You seem nice unless someone disagrees with you.
@@James-ko3gw I will take up for them every time I see the need…. This guy was criticizing the interviewer, not Tommy… so my point was, he can ask what he wants, it’s HIS interview!!!! And I am nice 😊
Ok.Tommy Shaw must have stayed in the same hotel room that Lee Sklar stayed in. The only thing that is different from the camera angle, color of the walls, where the curtain hangs, the picture on the wall behind him Is Tommy. insert Lee Sklar.
Tommy, Tommy, Tommy...It's pronounced Or-e-gun...LOL
They still need Dennis Deyoung to be the real Styx again. No one's better than their past.
I agree. Tommy JY and Dennis are the best combo in my opinion
Tommy is doing just fine, and so is Styx. No need for drama, no need for tension, no need for " I did it all and my accordion is bigger than yours!" Stuff. Tommy and JY are doing just fine. Let them.
@stevengrant8668 Tommy and J.Y ARE NOT Styx. Styx will always be (1) Dennis Deyoung (2) Chuck and John Panozzo (3) James Young and (4) Tommy Shaw who's really not an original member but those classic hits still being played on classic rock stations will be this lineup FOREVER. The songs 🎵 Lady and Loreli are with the guy before Tommy yep, John Curelewski, so he's not forgotten, and Glen Burtnik who came after Tommy is on their 1990 #3 hit Show me the way . Those guys are part of the bands hit making history. Unfortunately, since 2000, with no dis to Gowan they put out new recordings but have NO HITS at all. They should do like Foreigner and retire. Tommy is now 70 years old. The glory days were with Deyoung. They won't ever get that again. People don't like it but that's the truth.
You should have been tough on him and asked him why he's so against having a Reunion Tour with Dennis Deyoung.
He is a happy man. This is an interview about him, and being him. I care more about rented chickens, the music playing in Tommy's head, and how the audiences are half made up of kids who weren't even born in the classic era....Than I do about nostalgia addicts demanding Dennis. Let him be him.
@@stevengrant8668 That was the oddest reply 😂
Have you decided to do more than a one hour gig for your fans? I'm done with Styx after getting jipped TWICE like that . Grrrr!
He's afraid of COVID?? Lolol
Are u just plain ignorant?
There are no hit songs or albums without Dennis. Styx would be in the top ten all time rock bands but now they're a Styx tribute band that insults the fans.
Hey visiting dermatologist lately for botox treatment Tommy?
Damn, he is not aging well. Too much fillers and plastic surgery.😳
Yeah but he is hung like a horse 🐴. He is taller laying on his back.
@@James-ko3gw Ummm... and *how* would you know that he's hung like a horse...??
@@janedowe8403 my ass still hurts
Liked them never loved them but the one and only time someone got me tickets to see them live they were so rude to the fans. It was outdoors...no places to sit.....they waited three hours over their show time to finally show up after making us listen to the opening act for three flipping hours....needless to say they don't care about fans......never again...they can rot when the next plague hits them all.....
Fan here 👈🏻 they are very gracious and loving to their fans! I’ve met them many times before and after shows and they are so appreciative! Also, they don’t control how the venue sets up the seats (or lack there of) … I call bs on the rest of your “story” 😈
@@dalenaadams7920 you forgot to mention that Tommy is hung like a horse 🐴. But Dennis is hung like an elephant. That is why Tommy didn't want him in the band. It wasn't because of organ playing, it was because of his other organ. Good choice
@@James-ko3gw fake news…. DDY doesn’t swing my way 😂
No-talent grifter needs to give DDY his band back.
His legacy is stealing the band and work that Dennis Deyoung created
wow he really shows his being transgendered as he ages...
WHERE DO YOU GET THAT CRAP? TRANS?
@@markhaus2830 that’s Dennis DeYoung’s fake account trolling here 😂
@@dalenaadams7920 if you married someone who loved Dennis Deyoung, would you call him a troll? I don't even like the word troll, it has a negative connotation. I would rather call you a Tommy fan and me a Dennis fan. We are all supposed to love one another and accept other people's opinions 💗
@@James-ko3gw hmmmm I’m not sure I could get passed that 😂😂😂 Let me explain my troll comments to you… there are Tommy and JY haters out there (DDY fans) who literally troll social media for articles about them so that they can make negative comments…. That is exactly what they are…. I know it sounds ugly, but, they are ugly, mean people…. Who say terrible things that are almost always lies….. those are the ones I respond to with “trolls”… They know who they are…
Love Tommy Shaw from Styx
