    • @66limelight
      @66limelight 6 лет назад +7

      GeilsSila, Exactly!! I made a comparison of DeYoung and Waters a few years ago and my claim was strongly rejected by a Waters fan. I'm glad to see someone agrees with me. Both Waters and DeYoung wanted control over their bands' material and in doing so each of them drove a wedge between themselves and their band mates. I never thought about a McCartney comparison but you are right on that too. Both McCartney and DeYoung abandoned their earlier progressive music (which is what made each of them) and started writing sappy ballads and love songs and other more conventional music aimed at Top 40 radio. Kind of like what Steve Perry and Phil Collins did to their bands. Getting back to Waters, I'm a huge Floyd and the Floyd music took a big dive on the Final Cut, which was written entirely by Waters. A while ago I saw a clip here where Waters said his favorite song on The Wall is 'Vera'. Yes, Vera. I speculate that if Gilmour hadn't stood up for himself when making The Wall, it would have ended up sounding like The Final Cut.

    I cannot believe that these guys are still not in the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame. If they ever do make the RRHOF it should be as the classic line up. I love all the guys in STYX, past & present. That said though, sometimes though you gotta know when its time to hang it up. No matter how much bad blood there is between Dennis & the rest of the guys now, they really should realize what many of us know: That they really did need each other. Their problem is the band kicked out the founder!!! I lived in Liverpool 62-65, and was a DJ for the 70s and 80s. It was Dennis's band, he formed it and he is the voice. I have gone to concerts for 45 years, saw Dennis of course with my wife and kids, but you could not drag me to Styx with a back stage pass!!! Unfortunately the kids said Elton and The Who were better? I told them The Beatles and Who were Dennis's Idols. Nuff said.

    John reminds me of Larry from the Three Stooges. Hence the analogy from Dennis was said. I wish there was more footage of him talking.

    I do not know why they have been ignored by the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Many lesser artists have been inducted.

    Amazing. Didn't know this existed, but it's wonderful. They're so human. QUESTION: Did anyone other than me notice Chuck dry humping Dennis' leg at 1:55, during the photo shoot???

    Wait, what the holy crap!? @6:47 That's Fading Away from Tommy's Girls with Guns album!!! You mean to tell me that could've been a Styx song!? I love that song, but man I would've loved it even more with a Styx production sound.
    And what the hell is this footage!!!? Looks like Chuck and John but there's another guy in the background holding a guitar, doesn't look like JY... are they just having fun...like surprise gig at a bar or something?
    Omg, and someone has this whole tape...aaaahhhh!!! Need!

      I second that! I want to hear the whole version of that, Chuck and John were laying down a grooooove on that!!
      I just pulled up Tommy’s version on Apple Music, and JY is listed as co-writer.
