To think it's immaterial for religion to claim inventions is a very western centric perspective. The reason different groups try to claim historic events, cultures and inventions is that it matters to them in identity politics and in the case of Islam, it matters because of the central tenets of Islam and the way Islam conceives secular power as indebted to religion.
