I swear some people try to make it out to be a trolley question, but in the trolley scenario you have the option not to participate, and anything you DO choose to do is by your own hand. A villain asking you to pick between 100,000 civilians vs. 2 loved ones doesn't change the fact that you would not be directly responsible for anyone's death. By law, it would be the villain at fault.

The answer will always be "short" because that is the only word that BECOMES "shorter", linguistically. Short -> Shorter. You cannot turn "fast" into "shorter" by adding two letters because "fast" is not a part of the word "shorter".
