this video was inspired by you ❤i had some comments the last couple videos that some of you are adjusting to your new 9-5 rn, so I wanted to share some tips! PLEASEEE share any more you have too💕
If you commute far and don’t want to sit in traffic, find a fitness studio (orange theory, CrossFit, Pilates, etc.) near your work and workout to kill time while the traffic dies down a bit. This way when you get home, you’re done with work and gym.
Yes I love this! I’m lucky enough that we have a free gym at work and most people don’t use it (not many in the office these days) and on my hybrid days I workout
Tbh, the gyms are crazy full right after worktime... so instead of waiting in the traffic I'd have to wait in the gym and my 45min workout takes 1,5h lol
Im in hell with that one. Its only a 15 min drive but it's in the morning where it's super dark out, and allllll I have on my radio is the same 3 hip hop songs, gospel music (and not the fun kind), and FUCKING COUNTRY MUSIC Anytime I find a channel that actually has good music (I particularly miss rock) it's always interrupted by static the MOMENT I move ANYWHERE
as someone who graduated in 2018, i completely agree. here are my tips 1) wake up early, go to bed early (prioritize SLEEP) 2) work out in the morning (this helps energy, and you open up your after-work hours) 3) get SUN/GO OUTside DAILY 4) eat healthy (this one is huge, it will help energy levels, and stress levels - sitting all day and eating like sh.t is the WORST combo) 5) be clear and STRICT about your work boundaries - do not be readily available 24/7. this is probably not popular advice, but this is so needed. stop feeling like you OWE your company all your time. you are hired for the time slot of 9-5, not before, not after. i understand sometimes you are needed beyond those hours, but never let that become habit. you will burn out in a very short period of time. 6) create routines outside of work - hobbies, communities, sports, travel, weekend trips etc. etc. 7) understand your levels of social time vs. alone time. dont say yes to everything - PRIORITIZE alone time!!!! 8) i wouldn't trust anyone at work - seriously, i would wait MONTHS to start trusting people at work. HR is to protect the company, nOT YOU. coworkers, are out for themselves 99% of the time, and do not care about you. dont sleep with coworkers, be cordial not overly friendly and never share your personal life with coworkers. i know this sounds really intense, but trustttttttt me it is so much for the better. you can be friends with coworkers and not overshare, you can have fun with friends, and not share private information. dont party with coworkers, never get drunk with coworkers. your coworkers are NOT your friends and its very rare to find true friends at work. 9) organize your email to an excessive level. create folders for everything, and do not delete emails, ever. 10) find a mentor at work who you trust as a professional resource and become a pupil under them. this will help you become a better professional and will help you learn and grow in ways you couldn't do on your own. (prioritize your own professional growth!!) 11) build your network at work, be a resource to everyone but balance your tasks - this will show everyone that you are great at accomplishing tasks and being a resource to the company as a whole - and not just your manager. this takes time to master, so be very cautious at first, but this will get you far. your network is professional currency. the pto tips are good, but i feel thats common sense. idk corporate life is crazy and extremely tiring. a lot of things come with time, but believe me, never let your company make you a slave.
we have a lot of the same tips! thank you for sharing :) love the prioritize time alone one. idk, for me PTO is common sense but i also didn't take it for the first 8 months working because i didn't plan it out and wanted to make a good first impression, so it's a tip i wish someone told me.
Yes love those, especially the shift boundaries & reluctance to trust coworkers, I got to close to a coworker that I thought I could confide in outside of work, whether or not it’s really her fault she claimed that my awful manager threatened to fire her if she didn’t share her private text messages with me, & it made my manager treat me horribly… big learning experience for me unfortunately
My tip is never neglect lunch or snacking midday at work because for a long time I was a walking zombie because I would eat breakfast before work and then have nothing at all. And then I get home I’m too exhausted for anything else. And now I come home and workout almost every single day because I ate at work. How crazy is that. It’s a minor thing that has a huge impact on the rest of the day!
tip - buy all the ingredients for lunches (bread, turkey, avocado, whatever) and keep them all in the work fridge. make your sandwich each day during lunch instead of trying to pack/prep a meal each day. this also extends to breakfast/snacks
My tip is to let things fall to the wayside for a week if needed. There can be so much to keep up with and sometimes it's a lot less stressful to say "this week I'll clean, next week I'll go to the DMV. I can't handle both right now"
Love this!! Not enough people (or schools) address this adjustment! I came from an intense grad school to working 8-5 and then studying for board exam after work. Once I passed I was like “what do I do with all this new time?!” Finding a good routine helped.

Didn´t they proved in 2020 how badly far are they from reality? slavery turn no soul rich, the price for such slavery is opposite: you lost: time (1st 20 years = childhood, then comes 40 years for slavery = your 20s, your 30s, your 40s, your 50s, then comes 50 years of being elderly = 60 - 100) health = all these vaccines, which slowly turns you a cripple + man made fake food ( we are dust and should consume which comes directly from dust) life = no time and no health = early grave Each of us shall lose 3 times, gain nothing more then illusions. When reading THE BIBLE (KJV) and complaining abut the slavery in the past, know then this, that 9 - 5 working industry = slavery of our day.
These are fantastic tips! I’m a year into my 9-5 and wanted to see if there’s anything I wasn’t doing but these are solid. My main notes: - I don’t use a standing desk. We have them in the office, and I rarely use them. No desire to buy one for at home. If I get one, I would have work pay for it. Things I did invest in (with my own money) were keyboards and an ergonomic mouse. - Splurge to get the really good noise canceling headphones. - The tip I would add is take advantage of ALLLLLLL the workplace benefits-especially if you’re at a big corporate firm. Free therapy, free physical therapy (through an app), free virtual workout classes, discounted everything, 401k, annual enrollment benefits, discounted childcare, etc. There is WAY more than you think. - 100% agree with the meal kit services. Been using HelloFresh since the pandemic/college, and it makes my life soooo easy (and I got a year worth of discount boxes through work lol
Ooooh I love my standing desk at work, I use it all the time! But it’s an electronic one which makes all the difference, my coworkers have manual ones and they rarely use it because it’s a pain to move up/down.
Love the idea of this video. I remember when i was in a 9-5 making sure I was taking PTO was like THE most important thing to keep my sanity. I think another thing for me was creating sort of mini-goals with my career because through college/school we're always working towards the next "accomplishment" whether it be a grade on a paper or graduation - when you transition to the work world you no longer have things you are working towards, so I think creating those mini-goals can help a ton! Love all these tips 💗
This is so true! I work, study (both full time) and go to the gym 3x a week and sometimes can be so tiring but it’s very important to do your passions that in my case is gym and RUclips ❤
This video came at the perfect time! I just started my very first full time job yesterday and I feel so overwhelmed with having to set up a routine and manage my time properly. Thank you!!!
I just graduated and started working full time 9-5 and it’s been a hard adjustment for me! I often forget to eat and want to workout but have no energy to because I am exhausted from having no fuel. This video is so helpful thank you!
Love this 🎉 I wish I had this video when I graduated college lol. For PTO I take a long weekend at the end if each quarter to give myself and my brain a break. Also, I separate my family time vs. personal time because family can stress you out too 😂😂
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, and I found it very refreshing! So many RUclipsrs talk about hating corporate and quitting their jobs, and I haven’t found many about working a corporate job and balancing that with hobbies. I have been feeling negatively about my job even though I have a lot of perks - WFH and a great team for example. I just needed some positivity and a pick-me-up, and I think this video is that. I appreciate the reminders about routine and exercise. Simple things that I abandon when I start saying yes to too many things. I will check out more of your videos!
I’m adjusting to a 9-5 after a long stint in solopreneurship… this new found free time has got me clueless 😅because when you’re a solopreneur your brain NEVER switches off. And my anxiety was through the roof. It feels so great to be able to get time to switch off. I feel happier. And I can have hobbies again ❤️
Super valuable and structured video, I wish I had seen it 7 years ago when I started my first job ;) I would also add - take care of your health - both physical and mental. When you have your brand-new dream job, it's easy to forget that it's not the only thing that matters. I see a lot of people get stressed out and burn out extremely quickly, forgetting that health is something you cannot buy, no matter how much money you make. I've been there, and learned all the lessons and I can say - it's not the best way to start your career. Also, a second tip - find a mentor, either at work or outside of work, who can help you deal with all the thoughts you are sure to have in your first job. Sometimes there may be moments when you just want to let go and quit and you need someone to support you and look at things from a different perspective. Thanks again for this video, I'm sure it will help people starting their first 9-6 job. Take care!
YES I love these added tips. It’s so so so important to take care of your mental health too, that’s a big part of why I said my PTO tip. Also love the mentor tip, so so important and I wish I said that because I have amazing mentors that have helped me along the way too
Loved this video! I recommend spending time to learn the organization tools that your company may offer like Monday, Asana, Click Up, etc. I find that when I feel most burnt out is when I having been keeping up on my planner and task organization management.
Job searching for my first full time 9-5 job & I’ve been thinking that I’d establish a routine of immersing myself in Minecraft on Wednesday evenings as a midweek guilt free & relaxing treat
If you have a hard time being glued to your desk, take breaks every two hours of work, I have the right of 5 min break per hour so I usually take 15, 15 and 10 minute breaks and of course the hour for lunch. Also working out and feeling sore help me to not wanting to stand up and walk so often lol
Yessss that’s one of my tips! working sessions with breaks between 🥹 you don’t have to have the kind of workout that will make you sore too, stretching walking just some kind of movement really helps
Thank you so much for sharing. I graduated last year and I am one year into my finance job. I will definitely start implementing these tips to help prevent burnout and make the most of my 8-5pm :D
thanks so much for this! 😁 i just started my first big girl job after doing college and part time work the last 3 years and it is definitely been an adjustment haha!
If you work from home, get a foam roller for your back! It’s a great way to fight the bad posture you get from being at a desk all day! Try to get some stretching done throughout the day!
i haven’t seen this format of video before and it was so helpful! at the first tip it immediately hit me: “my mom was right” 😂😂😂 but it helps to hear the same advice from someone else hahaha
I start my first ever full time job (8:30am-4:30pm) next week and I’m absolutely terrified of the change and adjustment period but your video helped ease some of my nerves thank you so much!!!
Thank you for this video Jenna! I started my corporate job in 2019 as well and really struggled at the beginning as it felt like I had less time and freedom. During and post covid i was able to wfh a couple days a week and had so much flexibility which helped to fit in free time and exercise. I left that job as I wasn’t learning anything anymore and started a new 9-5 this February gone. It was a real shock as there were new responsibilities, so many admin tasks, and no wfh. It felt like I was readjusting to full time work again and really struggled to give energy to anything else outside of my job 😭 luckily I’ve been able to negotiate a wfh day on Wednesday as my “mid week treat” 🤪 because I truly find it helps so much for my mental health and work/life balance. I also have a standing desk at home (just a cheapy) but I love it because I hate that I have to sit 9-10 hours a day when going to the office. 9-5 work is hard but the things you mentioned really do help. Thank you for helping us feel like we’re not alone! You’re a gem 💖
Omg especially in office, sitting all day is so draining even though you’re not moving 😭 when I was in office full time I also was able to expense a standing converter to put at my cube - hopefully that’s something you can look into! Glad these tips were helpful💖
Thanks for the tips. Working from home can be a bit intense at times especially when having so many meetings through out the day.I am barley going to be 1 year working from home and feel like a standing desk will be my next purchase because sitting all day does get tiring. Love your videos girl they keep me motivated through out my day. 😊❤
This is soooo helpful as someone who is still studying full time and also working 8-5 along with babysitting and swim lessons. I needed this and you are so appreciated!!! Definitely earned a subscriber 🥰
Ok, can I just say the 11mm lens really shines here?! 😍 Great tips for those starting their careers and jobs and I really resonate with prioritizing movement especially for a desk job. When I started, I absolutely hated my commute because of traffic - so I signed up for a gym close to work and I started to head out early to beat traffic and worked out. Then heading to work, I started on the right foot ready to hit the ground running and feeling energized and productive. I found going home in traffic was less annoying because at least I was happy to go home lol. After I establish myself in my company, I requested to come in early and leave earlier to beat traffic. I know not every company might be cool with that, but doesn't hurt to ask if you have a good work relationship with your boss. And now that I work from home and traffic is no issue, I still very much prioritize movement/working out in the morning. Such a great jump start to feeling productive and energized.
I love that you were able to communicate what you needed to improve your work life as you established yourself there 🥹 yes movement is so so so important. And OMG Mike, I love the 11mm definitely is so nice on 4K 🥳
You literally NEVER MISS!🫰🏻Thank you so much for posting this video. I also graduated in 2019 but feel like I’ve been on fast forward and not truly living life since joining the corporate life in 2021! You are so great ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for all the great tips post grad life and struggling to find a job that would be a good fit. Ideally for me would be remote (because I dog sit part time so sometimes I would be at my apartment and other times I could be at a dog clients house an hour away) I also would be more relaxed and not stressed if I didn’t have to commute in traffic or have a specific dress code for in person work 100 percent of the time. It’s been stressful because it seems like remote work is starting to be phased out or it’s a lot of commission only positions instead of regular hourly/salary positions. Plus lots of remote job scams out there(people who want to interview via chat and not video) are most likely scammers(they send you a fake check, ask you to buy something with it but the check bounces after you made the purchase of work equipment.) I’m willing to go in person if the work environment/culture feels like a good fit. I’m an active person so sitting at an office job is going to be hard unless it’s remote and I can do the standing desk thing with walking pad.
I agree I feel like remote jobs have been phasing out too, I would look into the bigger firms that have remote teams that’s what I’m in. But also honestly if you go to an office you can just go to the gym right before or after work nearby that’s what I used to do 💖
I’ve had to REadjust after working remotely for a small business for almost two years. Something I do everyday is go for at least one walk to get out and get some fresh air. Thank you for this great video! 💕
Brilliant video. I felt so lost after graduating and going into 9-5 office based job seemed to make it even worse. Thank God there are videos like these to help you somewhat grasp the new lifestyle :) thank you
I'm currently unemployed and am looking for full-time roles, and I'm so glad that I've stumbled upon this video! I really liked the tip where you mentioned to have a mid-week treat on Wednesday, it helps wonders in our mental health knowing and expecting that EOD Wednesday we'd have something to look forward to instead of dragging it out till Friday evening - I'll definitely be allocating room in my budget for that! Also I appreciate the tip where you encourage us to figure our what to do after our 9 to 5 job as it's so easy to go back home, sit in front of TV, and just zone out. I'm thankful to still be living with my parents but am definitely feeling the urge to move out once I have a full-time job secured, thankfully I have enough savings to accommodate for that! I can't wait for the opportunity to use my post-college new worklife freedom responsibly! Thank you for making this insightful video and helping us new grads / unemployed folks out there! ❤ To those unemployed, your job is coming, just put in the work and it will happen one day!
yess the mid week treat really helps so much, even if it means a long morning, a dinner out, or even just making a dinner i usually wouldn't make. thank you and i'm glad you found this helpful :) good luck on the job hunt i know it's hard right now
This obviously is not for everybody, but if you can handle the responsibility and the financial aspect get a dog!!! My mini Aussie forces me to get outside, walk, exercise, and prioritize personal time
Hi! I stumbled upon your page today and am in love. Would you provide the link to your weekly notepad? I don’t see it in the description box unless m blind as a bat. 😂
I don't have PTO at my job so I'm hesitant to take any days off. I try to remind myself though that I can always make more money, but I can't get time back.
OMG I LOVED this video! It’s very helpful. I have been searching for someone who talk about tips for 9-5 job from a real experience. I am working in an accounting fim for a year now and it was my first job after college. I was overwhelmed and exhausted to figure out all these things. I’m now on my annual leave and reorganising my life, I believe that’s never too late! I have no Work life balance in my job and it has affected my health badly but watching your tips really encourages me to continue organising my life and prioritize myself. Thank you for this video! I just subscribed to your channel after the video,I believe other videos are also great as well.
Having a healthy work life balance is what helps us ultimately do our jobs better in the end and it’s easy to forget that ❤️ please check out work to live diaries I think it’ll help!
I just finished my undergrad in Boston a few months ago and jumped into full-time work pretty much right after graduation. I currently work 6-3 and am remote. Most people in my company live on the east coast, and I'm the only one on my team who is working PST since I moved back home for a few months to be with family. On the weekends, I can wake up at 5 AM and go hiking with no problem and run errands/do chores, hang out with friends, etc., but I swear it's like my body knows I have work on the weekdays and I often get up 15 minutes before work and can barely open my eyes. By the time it's the end of the day, I"m exhausted and only have the energy to cook for my family and then read/watch a show/relax and then go to bed by 9:30 PM. I feel like my schedule has changed so much and so quickly in the past 3 months! In college, I woke up at around 7 AM and could stay up till even 2 in the morning and feel fine... but now my body immediately shuts down at 9-9:30, which makes me feel like I"m not doing anything other than working every day. I want to find/develop a good routine that I can also incorporate when I eventually move back to the east coast and work 8-5 or 9-6. Do you have any coworkers that work remote in different time zones and if so, do you maybe know how they balance their work/life? I'd love to hear some tips! Also, love your videos. They are so helpful and make my day!
My team is on different time zones! we honestly just communicate as often and effectively as possible and are mindful of time differences. What specific parts of work life balance are you looking for tips on with the time zones? Definitely after college it’s crazy right…the exhaustion just hits so so so different and you can’t stay up as late as you once did in college. I would recommend the tip in “be organized” for setting up your to do list for Monday on Friday before you log off, so you can support yourself to mentally log off more comfortably on the weekends. If there’s anything else plz let me know 💖
@@JennaHong Thanks for your response, Jenna! Yeah, I definitely find myself communicating so so much every day and everyone is very respectful & understanding of my time difference, which I am super glad about. I totally agree with you - setting up that to do list for Monday on Friday is a great thing to do & it definitely clears my mind/gets me amped to start a new week later on! I think I was just curious as to how those on your team that are working different times zones than you (earlier in the morning aka before 9 AM) fit in their workout sessions (if it's before or after work) and also maybe make time for a little hobby or activity that they do maybe... once a week? I was thinking of taking a pottery class, maybe woodshop or painting. Have you tried anything like that? :) I think I just need to give different things a try. See what sticks, see what doesn't and build my balance/routine that way. From your videos, I know you are such an active person and I just WISH I could have the same energy level as you on the weekdays! Can't wait to look back in a few months and be like phew! I figured it out! :)
I’m on a later time zone than my team so it’s easy to get the workout in, 7am is 6am for my team mostly. I think everyone just has a different preference in when they workout though, honestly people don’t really talk about when they’re working out they just do it - and we trust that everyone’s getting their work done. Like I said in the video, you have to reflect and determine when your best energy level is during the work day, and go from there ❤ also like I said in the video my friend does a golf league at the end of the day once a week and puts an OOO on her calendar right at 5!
I just graduated college in may and just started my full time job june 3rd my first 40 hour :’) i’m trying to figure it out but thank you sooooo much for this video! i appreciate you!
the idea of working 9-5 for a company that doesn't expect me to log off at 5 gives me insane anxiety.... can't believe that exists... manifesting a good work/life balance for everyone here
Prioritise your sleep wake cycle. It’s important that we get enough sleep at least for 7 hours. If sleep is disturbed then it affects productivity for the next day. What I do is have my dinner early. And have aromatherapy cold shower after work, at least twice a week. It helps with my sleep hygiene. Reading novels and keeping my devices away 1 hour before bedtime also helps.
Solid points and tips, especially with PTO. If you have a long PTO, schedule a mega vacation if you want to have a long experience away from work and time towards you.
PTO is so important and easily overlooked when looking at jobs! Everyone should have it / be able to accrue it overtime. If you have a week of PTO I’d say stack it with federal holiday weeks ❤️
@@nuclearwessels2078 Jingo on Jenna's point! One thing I tell people is to pay attention a little far in advance of the calendar days because it shifts each year. If a federal holiday or normal holiday begins Monday or Friday, you can take advantage of that by getting extra days of if you only have a week off for PTO or if your able to accrue time for PTO, milk it like that by applying it before, after or both for federal holidays.
As a Uni student (class 9-5) Workout and hobbies are out of the question. What little time I have is for assignments and studying. My travel is 1hour one way. So I'm out from 8-6:20pm. When I reach home, I'm so exhausted, mentally and physically that I can't get out of bed some days usually by the time Tuesday rolls in I'm fried 😅 Any advice? Any students with a similar routine? Please tell me how to make time for study. Also any advice on natural supplements to have more energy, avoid burnout? I already take omega3 and VitD3
Definitely a multivitamin helps - my PCP recommends ritual and I love it I take it too. Commuting is so tough, my advice is to simplify your routine when you get home or before you leave for uni, just one thing before and after will help and prioritize your pre-sleep routine to wind down❤️
I know it's not always possible and you probably already do that, but if you can try to fit tasks you have/want to do during your commute. If you use the train/bus you might be able to study or learn with flashcards/send texts to friends/ answer e-mails etc. If you drive with a car/walk you might be able to do audio things, so for example calling your friends, listening to audiobooks or maybe you can make audios of the things you have to learn. Sometimes it's also possible to change a small part of your routine to incorporate more exercise, even if it just means walking for 5 minutes before doing your normal commute. Remember you're doing your best and that is the most you can do🍀 and a little bit is always better than nothing. 5 minutes of exercise is better than none, 10 minutes of studying is better than 0 and talking to your friends for a few minutes is also good
About 2.5 years into my first corporate job. All these tips are so useful & I've ebbed and flowed with many. I'd also add meal prepping on the weekend, and doing chores on Thurs/Fri help for maximizing the weekend if that's something that speaks to you! Also personally, something doesn't feel right about having a life routine so structured and centered in work (though most everyone has to). A big piece is reframing the mindset; doing all this to enjoy the things you want & fund new experiences for yourself and loved ones. The cliches are very true and important to unpack- Dont live to work, but work to live. Also true, prioritize those life affirming moments you desire for yourself, because resources are limited. Aim to live in gratitude for what you are growing towards, and enjoy the journey while you're on it. With consistency, success is inevitable.
Hi! There are timestamps in the description box so I’ve already provided when the first tip starts. I felt it was still important to talk about work life balance before getting into the tips.
Great tips! We're both 26, graduated in 2020. I make decent money, but I always feel tired and I've been saying what you said at 9:09 a lot lately. Still trying to figure it all out. Sidenote: Look who started filming in 4k 24p. Looks awesome!
Love that we are the same age! and YES, always tired i totally get you, trying to set better boundaries and take my own advice to prevent burnout this year. and YES hehe, i am so grateful for your comment and suggestions on 4k because you were so right! thank you 🥹
I’m starting my career as an early childhood educator. I find that I’m up on my feet all day and when I come home, I have bruises on my knees from being on my knees to help them. When I come home I sit on the couch and relax. I’m wondering if anybody has any tips for getting used to a more active job? How do you motivate yourself to have hobbies after work when you’ve been standing/running all day and your voice hurts 🙂
sitting on the couch and relaxing IS self care and part of your routine, decompressing is good 🥹 from what i've heard from my friend who is an orthopedic nurse practitioner, you get used to being on your feet and eventually find the energy to find those extra hobbies (she's a marathon runner)
This video is really helpful - I wish I would’ve had something like this when I was first making the adjustment. I disagree about a benefit of working corporate is “when you’re off you’re off.” Because in my experience, because we work from home, people expect you to be able to get work done at all hours because you have access to your computer, so “logging off” is really just getting notifications at off hours and choosing whether to ignore them until the next work day or handling them in the moment because you can. Meanwhile, when my fiancé is home from work at his trade job, he’s home and completely off the clock.
I’m glad you found it helpful :) I think this is definitely a case by case situation, and depends on the leadership of your team too. My take is yes fire alarms happen when if you get an important notification after hours you should tackle it, but it’s also important to create boundaries with work with or without an office. If there’s an expectation to get work done after hours I think that is worth bringing up having a conversation about how to promote work life balance within that team. Some professionals work in the office and still come home to log back on, so it’s not a black and white work from home situation, more a leadership and team dynamic which can be so challenging to navigate sometimes, I think at least!
I'm gonna graduate at the end of the month. And I've been trying to ddcide for the last three years whether or not i made the right decision with my degree. Now i finally have to decide: do i wanna look for a job or apply to a biology degree and go through college a second time I'm 21 and i have already worked in my field of study the last three years (i studied in a dual degree which is offered in germany) and i like the work. I didnt like the theoretical stuff in college but everything else is fine. I have just thought about the bio degree all the time and now im not sure about what i should do. There is a lot more that plays into this (finances, moving etc) which only confuses me even more Do some of you have any advice or were confronted with something similar? I feel like a lot of people feel insecure about this kind of decisions
hi! i'm sorry this response is so late... i try to get to all of my comments. honestly though i'm not sure what would be best here because I haven't been in this position before. my honest best advice it to go to a mentor either in your college / previous class you've taken or at your advising office to see if they could guide you better on this situation.
ive been doing it for 2 years now and im often crying i cant adjust at all. im so fucking miserable, i despise my career and i dont have anything id like to do to be honest. i even changed my job and im miserable because i hate learning and adjusting
How do you have the energy to do all of that? I tried to incorporate going to the gym in my routine but it made me so exhausted at some point I couldn't finish my training anymore because I would be in the verge of crying out of exhaustion. I wake up at 6:30 and I'm home anywhere between 7 and 7:30 pm. I have like 1 or two free hours during the night and usually I just do what I have to do like paying the bills or buying something I need/want. I barely have the energy to read a book.
I think working from home helps me a lot, I log off and start doing life admin things at 5:30 so that gives me extra time! It’s been a growing thing I’ve been working on and comes with the ebbs and flows of how demanding my job is too
this video was inspired by you ❤i had some comments the last couple videos that some of you are adjusting to your new 9-5 rn, so I wanted to share some tips!
Yesss that’s what so many people I know do! Beats the traffic and can shower there if before work
Yes I love this!
@@DreamRice right, its so yucky around 5-7pm
Im in hell with that one. Its only a 15 min drive but it's in the morning where it's super dark out, and allllll I have on my radio is the same 3 hip hop songs, gospel music (and not the fun kind), and FUCKING COUNTRY MUSIC
Anytime I find a channel that actually has good music (I particularly miss rock) it's always interrupted by static the MOMENT I move ANYWHERE
as someone who graduated in 2018, i completely agree. here are my tips
1) wake up early, go to bed early (prioritize SLEEP)
2) work out in the morning (this helps energy, and you open up your after-work hours)
3) get SUN/GO OUTside DAILY
4) eat healthy (this one is huge, it will help energy levels, and stress levels - sitting all day and eating like sh.t is the WORST combo)
5) be clear and STRICT about your work boundaries - do not be readily available 24/7. this is probably not popular advice, but this is so needed. stop feeling like you OWE your company all your time. you are hired for the time slot of 9-5, not before, not after. i understand sometimes you are needed beyond those hours, but never let that become habit. you will burn out in a very short period of time.
(prioritize your own professional growth!!)
11) build your network at work, be a resource to everyone but balance your tasks - this will show everyone that you are great at accomplishing tasks and being a resource to the company as a whole - and not just your manager. this takes time to master, so be very cautious at first, but this will get you far. your network is professional currency.
the pto tips are good, but i feel thats common sense. idk corporate life is crazy and extremely tiring. a lot of things come with time, but believe me, never let your company make you a slave.
it’s all actually so helpful!! thank you for sharing this❤
Thank you so much!!
we have a lot of the same tips! thank you for sharing :) love the prioritize time alone one. idk, for me PTO is common sense but i also didn't take it for the first 8 months working because i didn't plan it out and wanted to make a good first impression, so it's a tip i wish someone told me.
Loved this tips, thanks for sharing.
Omg yes food is fuelllll 💖💖 YES that daily movement goes such a long way!
tip - buy all the ingredients for lunches (bread, turkey, avocado, whatever) and keep them all in the work fridge. make your sandwich each day during lunch instead of trying to pack/prep a meal each day. this also extends to breakfast/snacks
Omg yes love this I need to do more sandwiches, making them at home I could toast the bread too
I wouldn't do this unless you can keep your food under lock and key. People will do weird shit to food.
@@blooregardkazoo1397 i would just wrap it in lots of grocery bags so i knew if anyone touched it
Time management is a huge skill people are not taught! Not only for work but for life in general
Totally agree
I was crying before this, but now I am kinds hopeful
You’ve got this 💕 little steps and you’ll feel the improvements
My tip is to let things fall to the wayside for a week if needed. There can be so much to keep up with and sometimes it's a lot less stressful to say "this week I'll clean, next week I'll go to the DMV. I can't handle both right now"
Yes absolutely I love that tip ❣️
I can’t even imagine having to manage a career and a well functioning household. Im glad i stay home but this video looked super funnn
Love this!! Not enough people (or schools) address this adjustment! I came from an intense grad school to working 8-5 and then studying for board exam after work. Once I passed I was like “what do I do with all this new time?!” Finding a good routine helped.
Yes I was like “what now” 🥹 routine helps so so much
@@JennaHong lets analyse the lies which are world wide believed and origin from masons:
lie: schools are of use (fact. schools keep slavery alive and stands for dumbing down the population of mankind)
lie: moon and mars landings, (fact: even masons know they cannot leave - earth is closed system, unless you want to drown, there is no other place created for us to live in.)
lie: news channels share truth (fact: these are for politic propaganda)
lie: voting matters (fact: politic propaganda)
lie: money has a value of its own (fact: it is just a tool of this world, which value has been agreed upon world wide, it should be not loved, only used as needed.)
lie: NASA lies (globe and all....) (fact: NASA stands for TO DECEIVE and 2 members expose their own lies, one is still alive, the other (Wernher Von Braun) place a clear clue on his own gravestone) - you havn´t searched - have you?
lie: the lgbtq++++ propaganda (fact: it is a part of masonry depopulation agenda, 500 000 000 souls, thats their goal - Georgia Guidestones!)
lie: Evolution and the dinosaurs. (fact: mankind is not hybrid kind)
to keep stating that there was an evolution, then we ain´t humans, we aint then mankind, we are then hybrids. Are you a hybrid?
Lie: holidays (xmas, Halloween, new year eve and so on) (fact: PAGAN HOLIDAYS, to praise BAAL, the god of this world)
lie: U.F.Os (fact: they are demons/evil spirits in high places, against whom we fight daily = spiritual warfare)
lie: rules and laws rule the world (fact: signs and symbols of masonry do)
lie: believe in being educated (fact: found daily living with the lack of knowledge)
lie: religions are ways to heaven (fact: JESUS CHRIST is only way to heaven. Religions, no matter its name = masonic garbage)
lie: our dead loved ones stay around to “ghost” (fact: hunting and ghosting is job of demons, not of humans. We, humans, come from GOD and return back to HIM and all the stories of having been seen a ghost - terrifying, scary, dark, cold - again no job of analysing been done here by you- right?)
Lie: Humans have no immune system and we need vaccines as these save lives (fact: humans HAVE IMMUNE SYSTEM and vaccines are created for one or two purpose: to kill or to cripple. If you took all their poison shots then later in life comes all kinds of medical diagnoses = vaccines crippled you - remember that)
lie: there is no GOD (fact: There is GOD, who redeems sinners and created us directly from the dust of the earth: Psalms 139:14 (KJV)
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.)
to keep claiming that there is no GOD and we aint created directly from the dust of the earth, we soon run out logic, regardless to we place “evolution” in our claims or not and our dead, whats happening to them as they sleep in their graves? - they decay away, becoming the dust form which they were taken, if it ain`t so then we are simply reality deniers.
lie: 911 was terror attack (fact: 911 was an inside job, meaning the work of your loved government)
lie: Tv watching is of use (fact: television (TV) = tell a lie vision, a weapon for our minds, keeping it under MK ULTRA)
half lie/half truth: earth is a stage where everyone plays rolls (fact: earth is stage, a freemasonry checkerboard, where both side, black and white are masons and humans both in politics and regular souls = the naive public gets daily played)
lie: children are government to raise (fact: children are parents to raise, it takes 2 to make them, it takes 2 to raise them).
Lie: we live already in the matrix (fact: we live since birth in BABYLON which is to become “matrix” as Man - us, must merge with machine aka take the mark of the beast and then matrix aka false reality becomes to be 100%)
lie: humans are not intelligent enough (fact: it is forgotten fact, we all are intelligent, many have suffered the illness from this world, being indoctrinated by masons, cause who give us the school system which we have? masons did, because they need slaves.
Lie: love is low standers and = lust (fact love is high standard as love means>
John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Lie> do what thy wilt there is no body who has the right to judge you (fact> GOD SHALL JUDGE YOU AFTER YOU HAVE DEPARTED ON EARTH and Christians are also called to give out righteous judgment, therefore repent * born again * go and sin no more)
lie: slavery is over (fact: slavery was never over, it just changes a little as we are no longer buy`d or sold, still prepared through school systems for our future slavery, succumb to our slave lives based on our free will)
24 lies, should i go on?
This world ain´t deceived, out there to deceive?
9 - 5 working industry was created, because masons wants slaves. Schools systems prepared us for our future slavery. Wise ones reject this and seek GOD and start relying on HIM fully. it is unwise to count on the governments of this world. Didn´t they proved in 2020 how badly far are they from reality? slavery turn no soul rich, the price for such slavery is opposite:
you lost:
time (1st 20 years = childhood, then comes 40 years for slavery = your 20s, your 30s, your 40s, your 50s, then comes 50 years of being elderly = 60 - 100)
health = all these vaccines, which slowly turns you a cripple + man made fake food ( we are dust and should consume which comes directly from dust)
life = no time and no health = early grave
Each of us shall lose 3 times, gain nothing more then illusions.
When reading THE BIBLE (KJV) and complaining abut the slavery in the past, know then this, that
9 - 5 working industry = slavery of our day.
These are fantastic tips! I’m a year into my 9-5 and wanted to see if there’s anything I wasn’t doing but these are solid.
My main notes:
- I don’t use a standing desk.
Omg yes I love this tip to add 💖 having mini goals is such a good way to stay motivated
This is so true! I work, study (both full time) and go to the gym 3x a week and sometimes can be so tiring but it’s very important to do your passions that in my case is gym and RUclips ❤
It is so tiring “doing it all” I totally feel you 💖 but yes our jobs aid our passions!!
This video came at the perfect time! I just started my very first full time job yesterday and I feel so overwhelmed with having to set up a routine and manage my time properly. Thank you!!!
Omg I hope you found these tips helpful 🥹 any tip you particularly liked??
do great, but dont sacrifice for it :) Good luck!
I just graduated and started working full time 9-5 and it’s been a hard adjustment for me! I often forget to eat and want to workout but have no energy to because I am exhausted from having no fuel. This video is so helpful thank you!
Happy to help🥹
the mid week treat tip is UNDERRATED👌🏽 eating out or ordering take out is a always that treat
Omg yes like it GETS me through the week
Love this 🎉 I wish I had this video when I graduated college lol. For PTO I take a long weekend at the end if each quarter to give myself and my brain a break. Also, I separate my family time vs. personal time because family can stress you out too 😂😂
I love that, omg yes often I take pto and just tell no one even family so I can really mentally recharge 🥹
Thank you I’m happy you found these helpful 🥹
I’m adjusting to a 9-5 after a long stint in solopreneurship… this new found free time has got me clueless 😅because when you’re a solopreneur your brain NEVER switches off. And my anxiety was through the roof. It feels so great to be able to get time to switch off. I feel happier. And I can have hobbies again ❤️
hobbies help so much 💕
Super valuable and structured video, I wish I had seen it 7 years ago when I started my first job ;) I would also add - take care of your health - both physical and mental.
Also love the mentor tip, so so important and I wish I said that because I have amazing mentors that have helped me along the way too
I love my standing desk and recently got an under the desk cycle bike it’s great for sit down exercise whilst working away 🌻💗
That sounds amazing 🥹
Loved this video! I recommend spending time to learn the organization tools that your company may offer like Monday, Asana, Click Up, etc. I find that when I feel most burnt out is when I having been keeping up on my planner and task organization management.
Love this tip, it’s so true
Job searching for my first full time 9-5 job & I’ve been thinking that I’d establish a routine of immersing myself in Minecraft on Wednesday evenings as a midweek guilt free & relaxing treat
Mid week treats are the best; sometimes I do that but with getting takeout instead of cooking :)
5:40 - I do yoga after work, it really helps my mental health and my physical health as well ❤
i loveee this tip!
@@JennaHong I was kidding with the last one, I kind of distract easily and I find any excuse to leave the chair, still working on my ability to focus.
Thank you so much for sharing. I graduated last year and I am one year into my finance job. I will definitely start implementing these tips to help prevent burnout and make the most of my 8-5pm :D
Yes preventing burnout is so important I wish I was warned of that more when I first started working
THANK YOU!!!! been struggling so much adjusting to a remote 9-5 with terrible work culture!! i miss college omg
Happy to help ♥️
I’m transitioning from a remote job to a job that has time in the office every other week, so this is perfect!! Thank you!
happy to help :)
thanks so much for this! 😁 i just started my first big girl job after doing college and part time work the last 3 years and it is definitely been an adjustment haha!
If you work from home, get a foam roller for your back! It’s a great way to fight the bad posture you get from being at a desk all day! Try to get some stretching done throughout the day!
Omg I love this tip I need to do that myself haha thank you!!
i haven’t seen this format of video before and it was so helpful! at the first tip it immediately hit me: “my mom was right” 😂😂😂 but it helps to hear the same advice from someone else hahaha
I totalllly relate 🥲❤️ happy to help!
I really liked this video & wouldn’t mind another video similar to this style. Mid week treat is what I am picking up as a tip :) thanks 😊
I have a ten tips for running video I did recently 🥰 thank you!!
Thanks for the tips. Working from home can be a bit intense at times especially when having so many meetings through out the day.I am barley going to be 1 year working from home and feel like a standing desk will be my next purchase because sitting all day does get tiring. Love your videos girl they keep me motivated through out my day. 😊❤
It’s definitely hard, YES omg a standing desk really makes a huge difference
This is soooo helpful as someone who is still studying full time and also working 8-5 along with babysitting and swim lessons. I needed this and you are so appreciated!!! Definitely earned a subscriber 🥰
Thank you for subscribing and I’m glad you found the tips helpful 🥹
Jenna this is a very good video, I really have to tell my daughter to watch.
Omg I am so happy you like it 🥹💖 thank you for sharing with your daughter 🌸
And OMG Mike, I love the 11mm definitely is so nice on 4K 🥳
these tips are sooo good and applicable for everyone 🤩 i wish i had these when i started working!

You literally NEVER MISS!🫰🏻Thank you so much for posting this video. I also graduated in 2019 but feel like I’ve been on fast forward and not truly living life since joining the corporate life in 2021! You are so great ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omggg same year girlies 🥹💖 yesss corporate life is honestly such an aid to pursue whatever you want after work!!
Thanks for all the great tips
post grad life and struggling to find a job that would be a good fit.
Plus lots of remote job scams out there(people who want to interview via chat and not video) are most likely scammers(they send you a fake check, ask you to buy something with it but the check bounces after you made the purchase of work equipment.)
I’m willing to go in person if the work environment/culture feels like a good fit. I’m an active person so sitting at an office job is going to be hard unless it’s remote and I can do the standing desk thing with walking pad.
I agree I feel like remote jobs have been phasing out too, I would look into the bigger firms that have remote teams that’s what I’m in. But also honestly if you go to an office you can just go to the gym right before or after work nearby that’s what I used to do 💖
@@JennaHong Great advice or even an at-home workout if I just want to get home after a full workday.
I’ve had to REadjust after working remotely for a small business for almost two years. Something I do everyday is go for at least one walk to get out and get some fresh air. Thank you for this great video! 💕
Yes NEED that fresh air it helps so much mentally!! Happy to help💖
LOVE THIS!! All of these are so true. Thanks for sharing!
happy to help 🥹
It’s hard to adjust at first but it gets easier
YES I wish I said this! It definitely does
Brilliant video. I felt so lost after graduating and going into 9-5 office based job seemed to make it even worse. Thank God there are videos like these to help you somewhat grasp the new lifestyle :) thank you
Happy to help 🥹💕
❤ To those unemployed, your job is coming, just put in the work and it will happen one day!
yess the mid week treat really helps so much, even if it means a long morning, a dinner out, or even just making a dinner i usually wouldn't make. thank you and i'm glad you found this helpful :) good luck on the job hunt i know it's hard right now
I love this! I have been on burnout and my productivity has gone down. I will take your tips
Thank you💕

This obviously is not for everybody, but if you can handle the responsibility and the financial aspect get a dog!!! My mini Aussie forces me to get outside, walk, exercise, and prioritize personal time
Yes omg getting a puppy helped me so much too but I know it’s not universal 💕
Hi! I stumbled upon your page today and am in love. Would you provide the link to your weekly notepad? I don’t see it in the description box unless m blind as a bat. 😂
The PTO advice really opened my eyes
Yay🥹
I don't have PTO at my job so I'm hesitant to take any days off. I try to remind myself though that I can always make more money, but I can't get time back.
I’m sorry!! I hope you can find something that will give you PTO 🥹
Hi Jenna happy Tuesday afternoon and I hope you having amazing day today and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Thank you :)
@JennaHong your welcome sending you hugs ❤️ 🤗
I just graduated college in may and just started my full time job june 3rd my first 40 hour :’) i’m trying to figure it out but thank you sooooo much for this video! i appreciate you!
Happy to help and I’m so so so glad you found this as you’re still starting out💙
the idea of working 9-5 for a company that doesn't expect me to log off at 5 gives me insane anxiety.... can't believe that exists... manifesting a good work/life balance for everyone here
agreed!
Absolutely love these tips! And I 100% agree! We would definitely be friends IRL!!!!

I love these tips and yes to team early dinners ❤️
Solid points and tips, especially with PTO. If you have a long PTO, schedule a mega vacation if you want to have a long experience away from work and time towards you.
What if you don't have PTO or if you only have a week of PTO?
I absolutely love your work to live diaries! Those are my favorite and they are so helpful 🥰
Thank you I’m happy you find it helpful🥹
Thank you so much!!!! It was so helpfull.. I'm starting on my first corp job next monday and I'm freaking out!! hahah

Watching this as a SAHM because "being my own boss" is a struggle!
it IS! i have so much respect for SAHMs, my mom is one as well
I got laid off in May and I finally got a new job that I start next week! While I loved my time off, I’m so ready to go back to the 9-5 tbh LOL
I’m sorry you got laid off and I hope this new job brings you so much more fulfillment 💖💖
5 minutes of exercise is better than none, 10 minutes of studying is better than 0 and talking to your friends for a few minutes is also good
My exhaustion hits after 3:30pm it’s so hard to keep looking at a screen for so much time
It’s so hard! That mid afternoon slump
I want a standing desk. Definitely will be a good investment.
It’s so worth it!
WONDERFUL video!!!
thank you 💖
I definitely struggle with finding hobbies that I can pursue after work! 😞
I did too but try new things and you’ll find something ❤️
Any tips for adjusting to the early hours when you’re a night owl???
So hard but have to be disciplined with starting your night routine earlier!
Super helpful video.thank you!

With consistency, success is inevitable.
omg yes i love this, meal prepping was something new i started in 2024 too and i love it
2:30 seconds is when the video starts. You're welcome ❤
Hi! There are timestamps in the description box so I’ve already provided when the first tip starts. I felt it was still important to talk about work life balance before getting into the tips.
@@JennaHong Oops! Didn't notice that. My help wasn't needed afterall 🤭. Thank youuuu.
This was so helpful!
I’m so glad 💖💖
Great and useful video.
Glad you found it helpful💖
Man, I wish I had PTO. Unfortunately, I started with a company where you have to work there over a year to get PTO, and then you only get 1 week.
Definitely the PTO when applying to a job is a huge priority for me bc some companies really don’t give enough 🥹🥹
I work in a hospital, and when I'm off I'm still on :(
I'm gonna graduate at the end of the month. And I've been trying to ddcide for the last three years whether or not i made the right decision with my degree. Now i finally have to decide: do i wanna look for a job or apply to a biology degree and go through college a second time
I'm 21 and i have already worked in my field of study the last three years (i studied in a dual degree which is offered in germany) and i like the work. I didnt like the theoretical stuff in college but everything else is fine. I have just thought about the bio degree all the time and now im not sure about what i should do.
There is a lot more that plays into this (finances, moving etc) which only confuses me even more
Do some of you have any advice or were confronted with something similar? I feel like a lot of people feel insecure about this kind of decisions
hi! i'm sorry this response is so late... i try to get to all of my comments. honestly though i'm not sure what would be best here because I haven't been in this position before. my honest best advice it to go to a mentor either in your college / previous class you've taken or at your advising office to see if they could guide you better on this situation.
Love this video. Where is the TV background light from?
Govee it's in my amazon storefront 🥹
I hate this 9 to 5 life for me I feel like it never ending cycle that’s not going to stop it’s exhausting.
I’m sorry 🥺 these tips are supposed to help even just a little with that feeling!!
I appreciate your tips thank you so much
I’ve really been looking into a good standing desk lately😅 I’ve been hunched over for a year with my desk at home and I’m ready for an upgrade
It is so so so so so worth it I promise 🥹
ive been doing it for 2 years now and im often crying i cant adjust at all. im so fucking miserable, i despise my career and i dont have anything id like to do to be honest. i even changed my job and im miserable because i hate learning and adjusting
I’m so sorry 😭 definitely keep looking for a job that you won’t hate! I know it’s out there
How do you have the energy to do all of that? I tried to incorporate going to the gym in my routine but it made me so exhausted at some point I couldn't finish my training anymore because I would be in the verge of crying out of exhaustion. I wake up at 6:30 and I'm home anywhere between 7 and 7:30 pm. I have like 1 or two free hours during the night and usually I just do what I have to do like paying the bills or buying something I need/want. I barely have the energy to read a book.
I think working from home helps me a lot, I log off and start doing life admin things at 5:30 so that gives me extra time! It’s been a growing thing I’ve been working on and comes with the ebbs and flows of how demanding my job is too
i love listening to music its my hoby. So when i come home in the evening i listen to music and i feel good. So i think its good thing?
Yessss definitely is
Sometimes your workplace will also pay for your setup or part of your setup if you wfh
