The Grenadier Guards and the Life Guards were raised in 1658 by King Charles II in Bruges to defend the Low Countries against France in the Franco-Spanish war.

My Great Granddad was in the Grenadiers in the Boer War. East Surreys in 1914. DOW 10th Oct. at Lorgies after the withdrawal from the canal. He is in Boulogne East cemetery. I pop in to see him from time to time. He was the spitting image of my Grandson. Who we have now lost.

Well said, in mitigation to anyone who thinks that this is easy, the echoing of the buildings, from the band/Bass drum, is disorienting too.
Great turn out bet crowd got a shock when rifles fired. At 7.18 solder in green uniform with hat and feathers would that be from the Kings Guard of Norway

As my father was a Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer I've photographs of him training the sailors to march. You can't beat the Royal Navy uniform it's head & shoulders above the Army & RAF, but being a Scot, The Coldstream Guards & The Black Watch are another firm favourite.
Has any body inspected these guys . In shot 2.27 the guy in the centre rank looks like he is wearing shorts. His tweeds are half mast. Times have changed. such is life. And its not because i am a Ex Coldstream Guard, Just take a look detail is everything.

Well, does it? Anyone can play an instrument. I do get the argument that the average female is less strong than the average male, but I bet those girls could kick the absolute living shit out the average civvy. It also doesn't lessen anything they have done in the past. This is just change.

Members of UK Regular Army bands are all now enlisted in the Corps Of Army Music (CAMUS) They may be male or female. The designation 'bandsman' is no longer in official use in our Army. They are e,g. Musician Smith. Our army and its bands are all the better for this.
@David O'Neill. Absolutely spot-on with that remark, as those in the Service already know. Watch some of these little half-pints try to keep up with the guys coming out of Wellington Barracks en route to the Palace or to Horse Guards, or on any Left or Right Wheel. Laughable.
