I went to the memorial with my parents like a loooooong time ago, i didnt even know what it was back then :) also went to jim morrisons grave somewhere near paris :)
someone who doesn't know metallica watching this video might not only think that dave mustang was still in the band but also that he looks like james hetfield. Priceless!
you cant get the true story of Metallica in 10 minutes! The true story is no where! we all have each sight of this amazing best band ever! \m/ Metallica \m/
I can promise you, any modern day metal band that you listen to cite Metallica as a major influence. You may be a little young and weren't old enough to really enjoy the metal scene back in the day but Metallica were trailblazers. You can name other bands from that era all you want but they didn't achieve the success Metallica did. They did it the best and for the generation they were gods.
the reason jason didn't get any credit on any of the songs is because lars or james didn't want to give him credit. jason was basically a punching bag to help relieve kirk's, james', and lars' anger after cliff's death. it's widely known that the only person in the band who was nice to jason was kirk. jason never got the credit he deserved.
The best band of the world, for me, would be: Vocals- James Hetfield and Anders Friden Guitars- Dave Mustaine, Kirk Hammett and Jesper Strömblad Drums - Lars Ulrich Bass - Steve Harris and Cliff Burton I know it's a big line up, but it would kick ass.
Yea man I totally get you. I never liked LuLu or St.Anger but I still love metallica. People forget the gold they have given us like master of puppets and justice
i'm a metallica fan, too, but my musical horizon isn't limited to just one genre. so if they ever put out a pop album, which i honestly don't hope, and it connects with me i will listen to it.
At 8:57 the trucker talks about them touring with no new material to play. Damn this is a very true statement. I seen them live four times after the Black record came out. After that they wrote the Loads... and there music just hasn't appealed to me every since.
It's actually a new record. The official Megadeth fan-club got a preview of one of the new songs from the record some weeks ago! It's going to be released in September! It's going to be called Endgame.
they included the former members.their original line up was. james, lars, ron, and dave. they got rid of ron and got cliff, they got rid of dave and got kirk, then cliff died and got jason. jason quit and they got rob. so there
they got started together in the business because both wanted to be where they are now. lars didn't get james into the business and james didn't get lars into the business. they started themselves together as a team!
I feel so sorry for Jason. He didn't get any respect from metallica at all. I'm suprised he managed to take it for that long. He is getting more respect now than he did in Metallica.
R.I.P Cliff Burton 1962-1986 Copy And Paste If You Respect The Fallen Hero Clifford Lee Burton... The Best Bass Player Off All Metal History Metallica changed after you were gone
No "true" story about Metallica is complete without the mention of Jeff Weller, manager/owner of Laaz Rockit. He brought them up from LA for their first show in the bay area.
From what I understand, Lars and Dave Mustaine are cool now. It is James who is acting like a child. I used to think it was the other way, but I have seen alot of videos with Lars and Dave. They seem really cool.
Master Of Puppets, One, the list goes on, not all songs have to be short, only pop and rap songs need to be short cause they get boring fast, more complex songs like Metal and Classical songs can be longer
Lloyd Grant was never in the band. He was just a guitarist for hire that recorded leads for the 1st recording of Hit The Lights on the Metal Massacre compilation album before they got Dave as their lead guitarist.
dave mustain did not write the first three Metallica albums he was kicked out before they even released Kill em all, hes credited for just a couple of songs on it...
When she said, jason newsted on guitar, james hetfield on lead guitar, and ron mcgovney on bass i LOST it. I know Ron mcgovney used to be in the band, but still... WAAAY OFF
Alot is a tehsil palace and small town; it is a tahsil of Ratlam district. Its route on Delhi Bombay railway track. Alot is a main station for Jain thirth; many Jain peoples come there daily for DARSHAN of lord jain swetamber. @mEgAmESmIK Back in 1982, Metallica made their recorded debut on the Metal Blade compilation, Metal Massacre with their song "Hit the Lights." The first pressing of Metal Massacre featured a version of "Hit the Lights" with guitar solos by Lloyd Grant and Dave Mustaine, with James tripling on rhythm guitar, vocals, and bass. They later re-recorded "Hit the Lights" for the second pressing of Metal Massacre featuring Dave Mustaine on lead guitar and Ron McGovney on bass.
i think rob's bass playing is amazing, i think the most talented one of the bunch was deffinatly jason. you dont see many bass "solos" these days, jason brought that back to metallica
@Jim74 I've found that Megadeth is an aquired taste. The only reason I ever got inot them, is cause I was playing Rock Band 2 with my buds, I had to play singer, and a random song pick became Peace Sells. At first I was just figuring out how to sing it, tryin to survive. As it went on I fell in love with the style. Then on a trip I bought the anthology, listened to it the whole time cause I loved it so much, and now I am a Rattlehead. (Deth Fan)
why do people only like metallicas old stuff? They just went off the boil for a couple of albums and they followed the trend but they have steered clear of that now.
@mEgAmESmIK Uh yeah they did record in 81, for the Metal Massacre LP. The first pressing featured James doing tripple duty on Vocals, Rhythm and Bass Guitar, with Lars on drums and Lloyd Grant on Lead guitar. The second pressing featured the first actual line up with Hetfield Ulrich Mcgoveney and Mustaine. While Grant was the first lead guitar player with metallica, the reason they dont consider him to be an actual member is because he never actually gigged with Metallica.
Not only was john marshall the guitar tech, but also played in metal church. For those that are just on board with metallica and dont know about metal church check em out!
@redgibson1 the narrator was talking about the very start of the band, and mcgovney was the original bassist before cliff, in the same way dave was the original guitarist before kirk
People just say that cliff is good because he died, if he still were to be alive and he would have gotten out of metallica, people would not have like him as much as now that he is dead, its just like micheal jackson.
When did I say he's my hero? I'm just pointing out Lars deserves the credit he gets. He's not an asshole he just has a really bit ego. And why not? If I was him I would be the same and so would you.
Newsted was always the fall guy for this band... It's like they never really got through after Cliff passed. And now I miss the backing vocals and the whatever the hell stage presence Jason used to bring to this band.
OK, Ron Quintana, good, but no "true" story about Metallica is complete without the mention of Jeff Weller, manager/owner of Laaz Rocket. He brought them up from LA for their first show in the bay area.
07:00 He is wrong, it's not the only memorial for Cliff Burton. They have another in Sweden, close to the crash site, as tribute for Cliff. I don't know of there are any more for him though. RIP Cliff!
the fact that he got credit doesnt mean he wrote "most of the stuff" by himself. its still james and lars who were the main creative force in the beginning. i know that Dave is still whining about how he important was for metallica but i stimply dont believe him. if he was THAT important they wouldnt have kicked him, despite his drinking, i mean they all drank.
Go back to old school and quit suing Napster, or the other people that made u big, Ever heard of tape trading. It is what made you guys big. Would like to here an old school thrash album. Rip CLIFF, YOUR ARE THE ONE THAT MADE METALLICA
you gotta remember that when all this had happened that was only the begining of the whole piracy era. I think that ya they would've done the same when they were kids but when it happend to them, they really weren't sure how to react to it.
lol mcgovney was in the band for barely a few months and idk why dave is lumped in the line-up he helped write a song or two and he stills holds onto that crutch
For one: I didn't even watch this b/c I have 3 dif versions on DVD by diff names. Stop buying unauthorized shit!!! Two: Lead Guitar: Joe Satriani Bass: Cliff Burton Drums: Ginger Baker (The Who) or Neil Peart (Rush) Rythm: James Hetfield Vocals: The Het, Robert Plant, and Corey Taylor
metallica is the best band a never se for me and my dad he told me always when y was a kid he lisent metallica and he i when a big guy when in go to the gym so ...... he love lars kirk james and also the first baseman who live in this musik mister CLiff Burton
if you listen to the bass lines in the master of puppets album battery in particular your question will be answered. but jason, cliff and rob are all sick bass players
Leaving Exodus out from the Big 4 is a travesty. It's an insult to Metal.Exodus practically started fast thrash metal. When Kirk left Exodus and joined Metallica they made Kill em all.But at the same time Gary Holt wrote Bonded By Blood with much faster songs such as A lesson in violence. That's what thrash metal is its fast..Bonded By Blood is the first thrash metal album and it was released in 1985 duo to record label issues but they already played those songs in 1983.
I went to the memorial with my parents like a loooooong time ago, i didnt even know what it was back then :) also went to jim morrisons grave somewhere near paris :)

For the person asking what song is playing at the beginning of the video, it is "Redemption" from Bay Area band Imagika.
I can promise you, any modern day metal band that you listen to cite Metallica as a major influence. Just throwing it out there, that James didn't start off on guitar, he was just a singer, Mustaine actually put the guitar in his hands.

I love how they said "James hetfield on guitar" while showing jason the Dave mustaine when they showed james
the whole first minute of this video just makes me loose chromosomes being the massive fan i am
Jason Newsted was the coolest member in that band, period.
It's actually a new record. The official Megadeth fan-club got a preview of one of the new songs from the record some weeks ago! It's going to be released in September! It's going to be called Endgame.
for megadeth it would be either rust in peace or peace sells.
for metallica i literally like every album they have put out.
"He was going to name his band, like, Red Vette, Blitz...Crap, or something". Classic
they included the former members.their original line up was. james, lars, ron, and dave. they got rid of ron and got cliff, they got rid of dave and got kirk, then cliff died and got jason. jason quit and they got rob. so there

From what I understand, Lars and Dave Mustaine are cool now. It is James who is acting like a child. I used to think it was the other way, but I have seen alot of videos with Lars and Dave. They seem really cool.
gotta love james at the beginning there
Master Of Puppets, One, the list goes on, not all songs have to be short, only pop and rap songs need to be short cause they get boring fast, more complex songs like Metal and Classical songs can be longer
Like I said, I'm not blaming Dave and I never said that he "brainwashed" James to become an alcoholic, I said he influenced him.
Dang, Kirk's nice, he stood up VH1 for his friend. wow :)
THANK YOU, it's about time someone said it
0:08-0:11 JASON STAY THERE...YOU´RE GREATER THAN THEM....YOU ROCKS
Lloyd Grant was never in the band. He was just a guitarist for hire that recorded leads for the 1st recording of Hit The Lights on the Metal Massacre compilation album before they got Dave as their lead guitarist.
Him and James and Kirk have always had their heads up their asses for the longest time
dave mustain did not write the first three Metallica albums he was kicked out before they even released Kill em all, hes credited for just a couple of songs on it...
Congrats on being the 1000th person to make that comparison.
When she said,
jason newsted on guitar, james hetfield on lead guitar, and ron mcgovney on bass
i LOST it.
I know Ron mcgovney used to be in the band, but still...

i are soooooo glad they didnt disband during their "hard period"

I love RUSH! Greatest band ever!
they gave him credit. he wrote the bass line to my friend of misery on the black ablum and a few other ones.
Just memories of the fans makes this word the top comment!!!
I respect "Prince" more than I do Lars. So sad.
Dave Mustaine was the lead guitarist for Metallica; then once they kicked him out he made Megadeth
He wasnt attacking the fans. he wasnt attacking anybody.if you wanna now why they made a big deal over napster, then ask lars your self.
I guarantee that if Jason knew how to Grapple/Kickbox he wouldn't have been living in Cliff's shadow.
why do people only like metallicas old stuff? They just went off the boil for a couple of albums and they followed the trend but they have steered clear of that now.
R.I.P. indeed...RESPECT
6:10 Kirk's a damn good dude, fuck the people that hate cause he's not the best guitarist around
@mEgAmESmIK Uh yeah they did record in 81, for the Metal Massacre LP. The first pressing featured James doing tripple duty on Vocals, Rhythm and Bass Guitar, with Lars on drums and Lloyd Grant on Lead guitar. that guy at 6:20 when he speaks about kirk and what kirk said he stutters...I think that s exactly how Kirk said it though :))
They mixed sth up: james hetfiled on guitar: showing jason, dave mustaine on guitar: showing james :)
Not only was john marshall the guitar tech, but also played in metal church. For those that are just on board with metallica and dont know about metal church check em out!
Dave Mustane on lead guitar, rob mcgaosghiu on bass :DD
very sad that people I idolized as a teenager turned into: Metallica+fame+douch(lars and james combined)=just lame. I used to love these guys. sad.
@redgibson1 the narrator was talking about the very start of the band, and mcgovney was the original bassist before cliff, in the same way dave was the original guitarist before kirk
Jason was the heaviest guy in Metallica.
A pitty he was put in the situation to decide to have to leave.
Sometimes I feel youtube pays metalheads to fight amongst themselves, especially the ones who hate/love metallica.
R.I.P Cliff Burton
People just say that cliff is good because he died, if he still were to be alive and he would have gotten out of metallica, people would not have like him as much as now that he is dead, its just like micheal jackson.
has anyone else realized that Lars' face has not changed in the past 20 years?
It's cool, brother!
LONG LIVE METALLICA & MEGADETH!
they had 3 former bassists and one former guitarist...since they said 4 bassists, they included rob who is they current bassist
No, I am Mexican, but I love scandinavian metal.
Yours music is never get old guys salut...mantap
When did I say he's my hero? I'm just pointing out Lars deserves the credit he gets. He's not an asshole he just has a really bit ego. And why not? If I was him I would be the same and so would you.

Oh man, Pantera must be pissed at the magazine guy.
OK, Ron Quintana, good, but no "true" story about Metallica is complete without the mention of Jeff Weller, manager/owner of Laaz Rocket. He brought them up from LA for their first show in the bay area.
"Lars was going to name his back Red Vet, Blitz... Crap or something."
lol
07:00 He is wrong, it's not the only memorial for Cliff Burton. They have another in Sweden, close to the crash site, as tribute for Cliff. I don't know of there are any more for him though. RIP Cliff!
Because Lars Ulrich is a fantastic song writer.
Ulrich=Hetfield= Near perfect songs
Wow Lars really rocked that Mullet!!
kirk hammet looks like prince with his short hair
the fact that he got credit doesnt mean he wrote "most of the stuff" by himself. its still james and lars who were the main creative force in the beginning. i know that Dave is still whining about how he important was for metallica but i stimply dont believe him. if he was THAT important they wouldnt have kicked him, despite his drinking, i mean they all drank.

thats like the ultimate band but sadly cliff isnt here so i would still put james in it
you gotta remember that when all this had happened that was only the begining of the whole piracy era. I think that ya they would've done the same when they were kids but when it happend to them, they really weren't sure how to react to it.
3:10 epic voice break or laugh or whatever XD
"and Dave had bitten me on the back of my neck and i liked it actually....''
megadeth is my favorite band. unfortunately they did sell out on "risk". in my opinion..
Yes......... you are a reasons!!!! Jason is the best..... Chophouse it's amazing...
OMG...I just came to the realization that Dave Mustaine is actually a VAAAMPIREEE...Aaaarghh...run for your liveeees....
lol mcgovney was in the band for barely a few months and idk why dave is lumped in the line-up he helped write a song or two and he stills holds onto that crutch
For one: I didn't even watch this b/c I have 3 dif versions on DVD by diff names. Stop buying unauthorized shit!!!
Two:

if you listen to the bass lines in the master of puppets album battery in particular your question will be answered. but jason, cliff and rob are all sick bass players
JASON has his own band now and it is called NEWSTED
In all fairness to James, that photographer guy did pull a bit of a dick move giving out pictures of the band without telling them.
Stop at 0:11 and you'll see why Jason left the band
Kirk with short hair = HOTTTT.
Lars with long hair = NOT HOT!
I love Jason too, and miss him. But Hetfield is my fav
If you were the drummer for the most popular thrash metal band in the world, you would be too. Dont lie.
That's what thrash metal is its fast..Bonded By Blood is the first thrash metal album and it was released in 1985 duo to record label issues but they already played those songs in 1983.
anyone else notice the naked news sign on his hat at 5:26?
Ha,ha. Look at 0:37. Kirk looks like young Robert Downey Junior.
It was Lloyd Grant that was in the first line up, not Dave Mustaine
METALLICA 4 LIFE!
