This sound has been annoying us for over eight years, replaced both suspension legs but to no avail, you have demonstrated the issue and fix ,will check these in the morning, thank you for sharing
I really like how you showed us what it sounds like. This info can be very helpful for people when they may be having the same issues. I often find myself searching the internet to find a video that shows the same noises I'm experiencing. Great video!
I had the same problem with the same symptoms and I'm glad it occurred to me to check this site before going to the shop. You saved me a trip and (maybe) a bunch of money. Thank you!!
A shop was gonna sell this customer front struts and springs and the strut mounts..well over 1,000.00 dollars and the sound would of still been there and of course you can't get your money back from a bad diagnosis...
Great video and tuition, my mechanic had my car on a lift and told me everything was fine, I will check tomorrow that clunking sound is driving me crazy 😝
I had the same noise over bumpy road on my 10months old Honda too! I think most Honda having this issue I hope mine was the same problem!! Thank you so much.
Thanks bro. I've been working on my suspension and couldn't figure out where that sound came from. I changed all my sway bars and still heard it but they had no play in them because I had the car lifted. Once I got home I realized my right front sway bar wasn't entirely bolted on. Problem solved. .....2005 Lincoln ls
No problem!! Glad it helped you out and hopefully you weren't charged for struts like alot of people did and it didn't help..but it also brings up those who were sold struts, the links are attached to the struts and normally I sell the links with the stuts..😆
I bought my own shocks struts and installed them. Lol. Same noise. So I didn’t pay much doing the work myself. I’ll do this myself too! I can tell it’s exactly what it is. Only going slow over minor bumps.
Great Video and thanks for sharing, have been having this issue with my Honda city 2013 for some few days, now that im sure what the problem is, am gonna tell my mech to check it and get it fixed.
Only problem is they won't find it loose when they place it on a lift since the suspension hangs but hopefully they take a bar to it to make it wiggle...good luck and thanks for watching too...
Your welcome and thanks for watching, I know the driving part was long but it was the only way to show and hear that clunk noise and how people can relate to it. That's the way I do my videos and some are short and to the point, no sense dragging anything out
I changed the sway bar links on my civic 10 gen but the noise is still there on uneven surfaces. Plus, there is banging/clunky noise when going swiftly over huge bumps. My mechanic suggested to replace front shocks.
You're missing a few other things to check, the sway bar bushings, struts and strut mounts..and of course the control arm bushings and ball joints..you need to find the culprit or You're just guessing at the noises..find the smoking gun...
thank you so much. I happen to have a 2013 Honda Civic. i started hearing a noise recently but then it went away. I just heard it again today on way to the store, but then noise went away again. I have to drive over a lot of speed bumps going into/out of work now each day. and i am wondering if that has contributed to it wearing out. I try to drive slow but I always have multiple cars behind me pushing me drive faster over the bumps. I will have to take this to local mechanic to take a look at the car. Thanks.
@@alyoungcuda What would you say the average mechanic would quote to fix? Or rather, what would you price it at? I looked up some videos to fix it and it seems like it can be a complete pain in the ass to remove the sway bar link.
@@T9153Yang roughly about 75.00 each for labor, then add the part..but some places can go as high as 125.00 for each side for labor. You can always try it yourself 1st..
Hello, could you please let me know exactly the names of the parts you needed to change? I changed the struts and sway bar links and the noise did not go away. I spent a little bit over than $1k already and I am still dealing with this.
I changed out the left and right sway bar links..those are the ones that attach to the ends of the swaybar to the struts..when you changed the struts, did you change the strut mounts that are on top of the strut, its the ones with the 3 nuts attached to the shock tower
currently having this issue when i hit a small bump, sounds like a crackling noise like something needs lubricant, i took it to honda and they told me everything was fine, i noticed when i accelerate it does that noise too, also when i accelerate slow it does no noise at all, its random its driving me crazy specially since im still paying for my 2020 Civic, I will def check this out...
The trick to checking noises is sometimes flat on the ground like the way it sits and drives. When you lift a car up, all the wheels, suspension, steering components all hang and pulls down from gravity and that is why all noises seem to not be there. Good luck on yours...
There are 2 bushings in the middle of that sway bar..did you check those for play? Are you sure the strut mounts on top are not your noise and who did the links and what brand? You should take a peek yourself if a shop replaced them.

Sounds good, remember to check them on the ground, not up in the air with the suspension hanging
@@alyoungcuda thank you they are both faulty, have ordered them to replace later today, best wishes

A majority of those noises are from the links.

Lifted puts a strain on the part and eliminating the play when it sits on the ground..thanks for watching too...
Thanks for the diagnose real helpful!!
Hope it helped you out and thanks for watching too...
Im dealing with this right now. The sane exact thing. It is not the strut. I wasted money on a new strut. THANK YOU for putting this video up!!! 👍

Noises don't go away and then come back. Most likely a shop will sell you struts.
Thanks dude, very informative. I am getting that noise to. Great video presentation 🤘

Thanks. I appreciate the diagnosis. But how about the fix?
No fix unless you buy new caps and lugnuts..not worth it for the age of the car said the customer..

I’m getting that exact sound from the drivers side, I just replaced the sway bar link hoping it would resolve the problem. Any idea what it may be?
Do you have plastic hubcaps, they rattle too. Sound travels, should of changed the other link also

Yes of course..I replicated the exact noise for ya on the video...and so many people get charged for front struts all the time...
Thanks for the info..

Good video Al
Thanks and thanks for watching...
I have the same noice coming from the front I really hope that to be the reason. Can you please tell me the name of this part?
Sway bar link, or sway bar link end
Come back on here and let me know...
Good to know that
Definitely check for noises on the ground, hanging up on a lift ot jacks will only stretch the parts and pull on them and they will not wiggle.

Look at the boot on the link kit. Its clear the link is no good brother.
Didn't fool me, explain it to the shop that wanted to sell the customer front struts.
What’s the name of the part you replaced
Sway bar links , they attach the sway bar ends to the front struts...compare the video to your car, if you changed them, they should still be new.
What is the name of the part?
Sway bar end Links
is that lower arm
What you see is the lower arm but the noise is in the sway bar link
@@alyoungcuda oh tq for information i have same issues with that clunking noise..will check it later if related👍👍👍👍
How much was the cost to replace?
The parts alone were about 80.00 dollars
mnes even more loose sounding
Make sure its not the swaybar links too
