you gotta be kidding me! this is one of the most valueable beatmaking-related pieces of content out there...you could be charging 100s of bucks for this but you're putting it out for free...this shows what a great human being you are, dude! you're incredible, mate!!! thanks!!!
Thank you for that video! Drum Patterns have always been very hard for me for some reason. Today I took the time and recreated every pattern you showed in this vid and made my own presets. This was so helpful, so thank you very much!
Has anyone ever called you the Bob Villa of production youtube channels? You're vibe is literally a lofi ambient track. Super relaxing to listen too and watch. Keep it up!
Will this has to be my favourite video from you thus far! That gate side chain foley trick is awesome. I would love to see more videos focused on drums and percussion
This is so helpful. I make music as soundtrack beds for RUclips videos. I usually make a tune in an hour or two and don't have much more time than that usually, so having a template like this to work with really clarifies things for someone like me who didn't grow up with beats, and now needs to make them. Liked and subscribed. Thanks!
Awesome stuff for a guy who LOVES lofi but cannot seem to hit the 'sound' with his own productions. You know this, I've been trying for like 8 months or so.. ;) As usual, very useful high quality video. Spanx a lot man, you rock! :D
I just went through this exercise again creating 10 different templates so that I can jump in and get a tune down quickly, still some of my own beats feel a bit static as I forget a few simple things and this is a great refresher, nice! ;D
@@WillHatton Morning buddy! Just wondered, I see prods mostly using audio clips for the drums rather than drum rack, it seems, can you make LFO effects on a drum track made of audio clips? Is it generally better to use audio clips rather than the MIDI drum sequences where possible or just preference? Just thinking aloud, thanks! Have a fun weekend! ;D
@@nicolasnicolas3889 Totally preference bud! I tend to use audio more often as I like to SEE the waveform but it really doesn't matter. You can achieve the same effect with both!
but un the 4th bar there is a little change lol...it took me some while understand why it was not working [now we see who really is remaking it lol] thank a lot...a lot !
What a cracking vid.👍 Some real gold there. You mentioned about another vid and I'd really like to see more on the techniques like the hi/lo shaker fade, the vinyl sidechain, etc. Also, the thoughts behind the techniques, like the transient where everything should be super short, pitched up, etc. Superb vid, with the sort of info you don't often find. 👍👏
A fi, thank you so much for your kind words, just the sort of motivation I needed today! Yes, do check out my "Groove Theory" video, it'll give you some more insight on creating a bounce with perc (It's not Lo-Fi but its beneficial) I have a "Subtractive synthesis" video if you like your REALLY content geeky (I know i do!) And if you're into your Lo-Fi stuff, then just filter my videos by playlist! Thanks for being here friend.
Man, your video is like a saint book for making beat in lofi music, so instructive and to the point, and no water about how is the weather outside, socks you chose for today or which coffee you're advertising... thank you a lot 🙏💛💙
Always love your videos, mate! This one is extra special - thanks for breaking down the polyrhythms. I had no idea you were a session drummer - makes total sense now 🤪 Is the template used during the video available at your Patreon?
Thank youuuuu Brian! The template is available at the Patreon for Live 11 and the MIDI patterns are downloadable for previous versions of Live or other DAWs
Hello Will! This is brilliant mate, thank you very much. Could you please tell me what key sound you are using in "Almost 3" ? Maybe a tutorial on how to get that beautiful sound Cheers
The MIDI patterns are also at the Patreon to download alone which should work for any DAW. If not, I’m sure it won’t take you very long to just replicate the shapes from the time stamps! Happy to help!
@@WillHatton thanks so much, I will sign up to the Patreon for sure! Iv just started using xln xo,going to spend the afternoon creating some presets using theses patterns to improve my workflow , thanks again, keep the great music and content coming :)
excellent video, thanks so much! i was wondering though, and i know this is probably just a lofi stylistic thing, but it just seems that the drums hits, especially the hats seem much more off grid than an actual drummer would play them, feels really unsteady to my ear. of the drummers i have played with, i do not recall any of them playing their hat that far off grid, some like to even play with a metronome in their ear at gigs. when you are playing for hire, i am assuming your timing is more precise, no? maybe i am crazy lol --- great videos though, i will be using the patterns although my hats will be closer to grid. lol
@@WillHatton I agree, but I think it's worth putting out a few polls to see who has FabFilter or other mainstream popular plugins. You might be surprised.
This is about the 6th video I’ve watched on Lori drum beats and honestly I don’t understand any of it. Does any one know a video where they explain language a beginner would get?
It doesn't unfortunately BUT I did make the MIDI available so you can apply the patterns to any DAW. Should be as simple as dragging and dropping to your assigned instrument, you may just have to adjust what key your kick or snare sample performs on.
For this example, yes! You can export the MIDI to use with LPX, you can access this at any tier. Just search the tag "templates" to find this video and the attached midi!

It is considered a rule of good manners to post the midis that are shown in the video. Anyway, thank you for explanation.
Everytime seeing a new video by you on RUclips I already know it's essential to watch. Great and useful video again!
Appreciate you being here my friend! 🙌🏼
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You Should make a video like this but for the keyboard chords.
Dude, you just gave away a million plays to other producers basically for free. You are beyond nice. 👏🏾
Ha! I hope that’s true, share the wealth and all that! Appreciate you
Thank you for dropping these GEMS

CMD + D
If you don't mind me asking, how do I get the drums that were used in this video? They're great🔥 Also, how do I download the template?
Both are available at the Patreon upon any tier!
Do you make videos or templates using third party plugins and synths? E.g. FabFilter template, UAD (If you have), Acustica Audio, or U-he synths etc.
Not often but I’m not adverse to it either! Just trying to make content that will benefit most users and not exclude anyone!
