This channel is so dope; clear/practical,and I always leave with something I'm excited to try. Some channels are great for how-to's that involve a lot of button -clicking in ableton, but with this channel I get not only that but a deeper understanding of why I'm doing what I'm doing. It breeds independence in my work. I'm still quite new to producing and it can be pretty over-whelming at times, but these videos have given me such productive avenues to go down. So thanks for the tutorials, I'm sure many feel the same as I do about them!
Hihat gears trick is great. It really helped making loops less boring by adding nuances while keeping the main beat/mood stable. Thank you for revealing such a hidden gem.

I dont make techno but have been making house for many years & already know a gang load of production techniques but i been letting your videos play in the background on my phone when Im not in the studio & it never fails to inspire me ! you're an inspirational dude & a great teacher! congratulations!
Frequency shifters are my favorite tool for drums, and I probably use them on hats more than anything else. It's amazing how they can pull together various different sounds and make them sound like they're from the same kit, if not the very same sound just played differently, especially with some of the tricks you can do with freq shifters.

Been watching several of your videos these couple of days. I have no background in music, expect being a huge fan of techno and I started DJing as an amateur on and off. I've always loved the idea of getting into techno music DJing and production eventually. Things seems overwhelming at first sight but your videos are by far the best ones to grasp the essence of what techno production is about. Once I finish the free online resources, I'll definitely enroll in your course!

High hats were the bane of my existence 😩 when starting out programming them. Great tutorial, appreciate the time you took to make these and can't wait for the next one Oscar 😀👍 Also I make Hip hop beats once in a while like Njuabes and will experiment with that genre too.

God damn..The jackin hi hat technique is something I've never been able to figure out from trying analyse other tracks. Why in all the tuts I've watched has this never been explained? You sir are a legend. Would be great If youve done further hat technique tuts for house , tech house , deep house etc.
For a long time I think that hi hats in my tracks sounds boring and always the same and I have to change something. I looked at a few guides but this one is definitely the best. I hope you will show how to work effectively with other percussion elements like tamburines, rimshots, toms, shakers etc.
The jacking house part left me confused, because I couldn't figure out why the closed hats cancel the open ones when we can easily, for example, play a kick and a snare at the same time. Cool rabbit hole to research for myself though. If anyone else is wondering, research the subject of choke groups, and keep in mind that Ableton silently automatically adds them to the 808/909 core kits. You can check them out by opening the chains for the drum rack, which reveals a hidden button, labelled I/O, which once activated shows you the choke groups. Horrible UX design, but a fun adventure in learning for me, I'm glad you didn't explain it so I can do some of the work myself, lol.

Hoewel ik de nodige hardware bezit, o.a. mpc one, gebruik ik veel ios-apps om muziek te maken (lekker op de bank met een koptelefoon op) op die manier creëer ik 32bar loops die ik bewaar en bewerk in AudioShare. En daar soms een nummer van maak in LogicPro - (hoewel ik niet graag achter een bureau werk) Nogmaals bedankt voor je tutorials ik steek er veel van op. 👍👍
Drum sets are infinitely customizable. You can indeed have open and close hi hats at the same time! But it is a good thing to understand how a single hi hat works.

This is doing wonders to fill in the galaxy sized holes in my knowledge. So good!
