    I’m 21 years old and this year my tremor got a lot worse. I live my life worrying and stressing about the future and what is to come with this tremor. My head nods when I speak to people, my legs shake when I stand up and my fingers are always on the move etc. it’s killed my self esteem and confidence and I was once a very confident happy young man. Now I don’t speak to anyone, if I do I keep my head down and most of the time I worry about coming across as rude to the person I’m speaking to
    I just want it to stop, I want it to go away or just for a day even, just to live 1 day stress free. My parents worry about me because of how depressed and stressed I have become at it’s uncomfortableness. My doctor has put me on prolanolol or whatever it’s called and it doesn’t seem to help with the head shaking but for the hands it does sometimes.
    If you’re suffering, you’re not alone, and I understand you’re pain I truely do

      Thanks for sharing. I'm 31 and have had it since I was 26. Started with the head nods and moved to my hands and sometimes full-body tremors, like my spine itself is shaking. I also have problems socially now because of it, everything you said I understand completely. I take propranolol 40mg 3x a day and it helps a lot. Also, cut out any stimulants including nicotine. Nicotine makes it much worse for me which sucks because I'm addicted to vaping. You're not alone either brother.

    Thank you for doing this video!!! I have Essential Tremor throughout my body along with a slight torticollis dystonia. I have been experiencing balance and memory issues and I become very frustrated when people tell me my symptoms are normal for being 53. So glad to hear I'm not crazy! Charisse Mollohan I have had ET now for 22-years. Mine started in my left had, and was not affecting my work performance. I was an excellent typist, but now that both hands are affected; it takes me forever to type anything. I notice my voice shakes a bit now, and if I am very stressed my neck will shake a tiny bit; also, I have troubles walking on a treadmill. My husband helps me do more, & more like: measuring ingredients, chopping, and shaving.

I've been a welder for 30 years now my shaking is so bad I can't weld anymore and I also noticed my head nods alot more than last year. I feel so uncomfortable with my head shaking it give me a bit of a headache. I lost my job this year along with my health care. My dads side of the family passed down tremors. Everybody in our bloodline has it starting in infancy. I always thought it made me different and it was special in a way. Kind of like a family inheritence. I think im starting to realize how much it really has affected me over my lifetime and im starting to consider treatment for it so that one day, when my son is old enough, he can make his own decision about it knowing everything that i know about treatment options and the process. My dad took parkinson medicine when he was a kid and my grandma told me he had way too much energy and she took him off of them. But its always made me wonder if thats why im always tired and always need to sit down. Maybe its not an excess of energy that i will get but instead the energy that i will gain since it wont be wasted trying to keep my body still.

  • @Underhills
    @Underhills 4 года назад +17

    I was diagnosed with essential tremor yesterday. The neurologist said my onset was moderate. My tremors are head and neck and I have some twitching going on in my hands from time to time. The doc didn't want to treat me with Botox cause she said I wouldn't benefit from that unless my tremors were more severe. She wanted to put me on beta blockers and SSRI meds. I asked her if my situation would escalate by time but she said it didn't had to. In my book that's a polite way of saying yes but there's also a chance it won't. I never really understood my diagnose cause this essential tremor condition seems like a hybrid between a chronic illness and something that could pass if stress is a main component in the onset. On the other hand I'm reading not so encouraging stuff about ET increasing the chance of getting Parkinson by 50% and that it will only get worse by age. It's hard to accept that so I really want to believe the neurologist although I suspect she was trying to break it to me softly. I feel like getting a second opinion now to clear stuff up. Perhaps I'm in denial here but that first assessment went so fast. Took the neurologist less than 10 minutes to diagnose me. It made me a bit surprised.

      @Underhills 4 года назад +1

      @@denizadagoren2419 The second neurologist did not diagnose me with ET. He said it was anxiety induced. He did numerous tests and spend more time with me than the first neurologist did. I asked him repeatedly if ET is a defined medical condition and not a generic term for all thing tremor. He said that ET is a defined medical condition and that I didn't have any signs of that. He went on to say that tremors can come from a series of things and he suspected my anxiety was the "driving force" behind my tremors. No medication was prescribed. @Underhills 4 года назад +2

      @@froydanger3849 Well, that second neurologist has assessed me twice now and he still says I don't have ET. He received more information about my general condition than that first neurologist that spend a short time "investigating" my tremor. I tried out beta blockers prescribed from the first neurologist that's supposed to work on ET but it had no effect on my tremors. I informed the second neurologist about my lifelong battle with anxiety and I also told him I've been taking Xanax on and off for 23 years. My personal theory is that I'm experiencing Xanax withdrawal AND tensing up due to anxiety. I've read trough the Ashton medical reports and scientific material that benzo withdrawal and side effects from benzo meds can be pretty severe tremors. However, that's my personal take on this. The last neurologist said he didn't know what causes my tremors, he just told me it wasn't ET or Parkinson's. So that's one doc saying A and the other one saying B - and on top of that I have my own theories. So who knows. I still have head and neck tremors and its been going on for a year now. My condition haven't changed except it's getting easier to avoid taking Xanax now. I've been almost two months clean. The inner tremors I've been experiencing for months has decreased and I feel it's decreased because I'm quit taking Xanax. I've also had seizure like tremors when I go to bed at night but that has gone away now. I had it for months.

    I developed tremors a few years back in my early 20's. Both hands, jaw and sometimes eyes. We believe the cause was a medication I tried. Nothing has helped them go away, but as they get a lot worse with anxiety, treating that has reduced the severity overall. I still miss being able to draw or write with ease and doing fine detail work is impossible now.

So far muscle relaxers are the only thing that reduces them.

    Actually sir this is my problem with body trimmers for quite some time I noticed that when I lift something or try to lift something or go to many places, I have to hold a glass, drink water, etc. If he is doing survival, his hands are trembling in front of him, the body is in an earthquake condition, there is no strength in the body, there is no life at all, because of this, my hands are shaking, they are not in balance, they are not under my control. When I want to do something, my brain gives me a message that you can't do it. At this time, my hands get confused. I get nervous. At this time I am teaching at some place but I have taken many tablets but please give me some guide or solution how can I stop it completely what can I do for it because I have gone into quite a depression and anxiety because of this, I think before my hands shake when I pick up anything or when I'm alone, it doesn't happen when I'm in front of someone, I'm going to present something or something. When I go to do something, when the work is done, I am already confused and worried. This is my time since I am giving the exam, so my hands are full at this time, which means it is not a resting trimmer.

    I have tremors in my face, neck, legs, toes, arms, hands, pretty much everywhere besides my eyelids and tongue. They aren't _that_ strong but they're still always there and strongest in my arms and hands and are all non-essential. They just get worse with more shaking and twitches from things like stress, exhaustion from overexercising and dehydration. They never hurt and I can't control them.
    I've had them for as long as I can remember, and my mom has them all over too. I thought everyone had them, and I was amazed at so many people who can hold a camera straight lol. I only found out that no, not everyone has tremors, in my teens when I had to go to a neurologist for seizure episodes. She went like "Oh yeah by the way most people don't that and not everyone gets constant headaches."
    I still haven't done anything about them since they've rarely caused major problems. The worst it's gotten is holding a full glass, writing slowly or moving a mouse to hover over something specific for the most part. And whenever I go fast and fluid or hold most things it's like the tremors aren't there.

    What about migraines? Can they be related to essential tremor? I have essential tremor and notice I get a lot more severe headaches than I use to. I also saw a comment by someone on another video that they get a weird poking sensation on the right side of there head, which I have also had. They seemed to think it was a side effect of propranolol, which I am also on, however I don't recall seeing that was a possible side effect.

      I (71F) also have full body tremors but not all the time. Sometimes no tremors for days and then moderate to strong tremors. Gabapentin helps some, but the tremors continue to effect my whole life because have fallen during the stronger tremors and the fear of falling keeps me from doing much. The tremors seem the worst when I get tired. Last time I saw my doctor and discussed tremors, when I got home, I had a bad tremor and ended up on the floor.
      Most articles about tremors only address tremors of the hands and upper body. Sometimes I wonder if it's more than essential tremor. Haven't seen neurologist yet but am strongly considering it.
      It's a tough, crazy, embarrassing, and scary condition to deal with. I hope you will get some support from your doctors, family,and friends. My best friend is very concerned about my tremors and is willing to listen to me talk about how they effect me, body, mind, and soul. It helps.

    • @AnoNym-zp2mp

      Who said you have to be anxious? The fact that you're not experiencing an issue whilst dealing with a diagnosis does not mean that it's not an issue for others with that diagnosis. Research on ET has show, just as this doctor states, a higher rate of anxiety in people with ET than people without it.

      @@AnoNym-zp2mp I've been battling anxiety and panic attacks for 25 years. Guess you can say I'm a sensitive and stressed person with a worried personality. I've been trough lot's of stress this last year with my dad dying, lot's of work etc. I just was diagnosed with essential tremor. My mother has the same thing, she also has a nervous personality. I kinda compare ET with Tinnitus that I also have. You can get that with perfectly fine hearing but stress can really escalate it. Don't know if there's anything called stress induced tremors but stress does affect it. I'm hoping less stress would eventually stop or reduce the head tremors.

He ended up with NOT giving me a ET diagnose and said my tremors were anxiety based. I asked him heaps of questions that I had prepared and he said ET is a clinical diagnose and not a generic term they use for tremors. It's so easy to get wrong diagnoses.
