    It has been shown in numerous episodes that trainers can simply check using their Pokedex which moves an individual Pokemon can use.

    Proto please do my theory I've been asking so many times so could you please do it sooner or later it's a great theory. My theory is why does Sir Aaron and Ash have similar Aura and why does Riley from Sinoh have a similar look just like Sir Aaron? Plus they both are able to use Aura and they both have Lucarios. Does this mean they are all related some how??? Or could Sir Aaron be Ash's lost father or Maybe Ash is a re incarnated version of Sit Aaron. Or Riley is a descendant of Sir Aaron.

    I remember an episode in the early Diamond and Pearl season where Paul caught 3 Starlys, and used his Pokedex to find out which was the best, and the way he did that was to check their moves. One of which had Aerial Ace, while the other two did not, so he released the other two, so I do agree with this theory because of that scene.

      he could add a theory why no fire from any pokemon can burn a fucking cut tree...its just not good to add realism to everything. also when charmanders flame goes out it dies which means it can go out ;)

    • @yxzyzzyx434
      @yxzyzzyx434 9 лет назад

      +Ryan Kreill it's possible for it to go out, we have just never seen it

    • @krazyzelda365
      @krazyzelda365 8 лет назад +3

      +KnightsOG Charizard's flame may not be a real flame, but an indicator of it's life energy. (Not HP. the amount of life Charizard has. it's confusing.) if charizard is almost dead, then it's flame would reduce unless bought to a Pokemon center. This explains how it can fight underwater in RSE and ORAS and how in Origins, it's flame didn't go out when it landed in the water.

    • @frankfarfan9703
      @frankfarfan9703 8 лет назад +2

      +TheGamingH _ HP is life energy. That's why it's fixed by going to a center. It's already been stated that pokemon can actually die from fighting. Usually they'll faint first or give up or the trainer will give up for them. That's also why at most regulated events, there are referees to determine when one is "unable to battle" and declare the other the winner. It's just like boxing, ufc, etc. The match is stopped when one gets KOd, or sometimes by decision after certain time. If the poke was allowed to keep beating on char(mander-izard) after it was KOd, it would die, just like ufc fighters would if they kept getting beat on after they were KOd.
      And if you saw origins, when Blue's Squirtle is beating on Red's Charmander, its flame starts to fade and that's when Red calls him back.

    I know how trainers know their moves. Up to the age of 10, they study the Bulbapedia written by Professor Bulba. When visiting a new region, they get the updated version of Bulbapedia. (Just a fun non-canon explanation :D) Other than that, they just rely on their Pokedex I guess.

    the journey route is more of an apprentice ship with ojt. one rare pokemon, and the journeyman (gym leaders) give the trainer a battle depending on how much badges they have while teaching skills, and then to become a master trainer one must be able to beat other master trainers actually trying while gym leaders told to hold back on purpose so the apprentice
    ( rookie trainers) has a chance to beat said trainers. while I'm sure the school route would be great to learn the theory before the practical and steer students to become instructors instead of gym leaders.

    My answer to this theory would be one word, Aura. I theorize everyone in the Pokemon universe can sense aura to some extent, recognizing when their Pokemon has leveled and learned a new move. One of the aspects of aura includes reading the minds and actions of others, explaining how the trainer can recognize when their Pokemon has learned a move as well as other things.

  • @sanfransiscon
    @sanfransiscon 9 лет назад +2

    Hmm, very interesting. I'm gonna continue with my "League owns and regulates everything" theory and say that moves are regulated to provide balance and structure, but Pokemon can attack in other ways. In the school episode, the girl states that moves like Bone Club and Bonemerang are allowed when Ash says she was cheating.
    New techniques are developed and are eventually decided upon by the League whether to be official moves or banned.
    This is why moves like Guillotine and Fissure are regulated so that in formal battles the Pokemon aren't KILLED!

    Well i wondered about this when in episode 4 of the original series, Ash's Metapod evolves into Butterfree whilst fighting Beedrill. Pretty much as soon as it evolves, Ash's orders it to use Sleep powder. How did he know it had it? I get that yeh when BF evolves it learns the powders, but Ash knows NOTHING about Pokemon at this point. Just kinda funny really.

    How do Trainers Know their Pokémon's Attacks, Proto? Answer: Bulbapedia!

  • @Flamecalvin
    @Flamecalvin 9 лет назад +1

    Right before i watched this, i told myself, "It's the Pokedex", so i have to agree with you with it IS the Pokedex, or the "AttackDex" part, that tells trainers what attacks their Pokemon know! But the 2 things you did not mention were the obvious facts about it in the anime: 1- Ash and Paul's first encounter! Paul tells Ash he saw him catch his Starly, and asks Ash, "You really think that Starly's good enough???" Then goes on to tell him, you can scan the Pokemon you catch to see what moves they know, as Paul is trying to find and catch a Starly with Aerial Ace, i highly Level move, that most Starly wont know off the bat! Thanks to scanning his 3 Starly, he sees he did catch 1 with Aerial Ace, so he releases the other 2! Paul does this later with a Stantler that he catches, and sees it only knows Tackle! Then one of the biggest things when it comes to learning new moves, most Pokemon learn new moves when they evolve, just like Ash's Boldore! When Roggenrola evolves into Boldore and Ash checks his Pokedex, after the Pokedex finish talking, Ash says, "All right! We got new moves!!!" Those moves being Rock Blast, and Rock Smash! Now, when it comes to learning moves, most pokemon learn moves either through using an older move, and a newer moves takes place by what seems like accident, then you have to refine and practice that move, if it seems shaky, some times a new moves might just come naturally. An example of this is in the Battle Frontier, when Pikachu uses Quick Attack, but ended up using Volt Tackle instead! And some trainer can teach their Pokemon new moves even if there is NO sign that they are trying to learn it, and most of time there is another trainer or an elder of sorts helping out the trainer with advice on the move, that the Pokemon is trying to learn! Like Froakie trying to learn Quick Attack, it was a spur of the moment idea, and it did not even result in Quick Attack, it learned Double Team instead! When it comes to Pokemon and Moves, it is a very interesting subject that can be talked about for hours!

    Hmmm.... you're on the right track but I have a different idea, maybe they learn the most common move sets for a Pokemon and they go to school for the effects because if I recall, in Emerald when you enter the class room in Rustboro you can see that they are learning the effects like burn, poison, etc. and they had books in front of them, but that is just a theory a ProtoMario theory

    That makes sense but only for the trainers of today. . . I mean before the pokedex, before the trainer schools. Before Pokeballs. How did they learn all of this and who created the pokeballs to begin with? If you go all the way back it had to start with someone, maybe it was someone like Yellow who could sense a Pokemon's emotions and thoughts? Perhaps the very first professor? Who knows, but this does require a lot of the lore to be unfurled.

    But your right adventuring is dangerous one could be blasted by a Rhydon's attack thrown in the water by a psychic type, squashed by a Charizard grab the idiot ball and tries to capture a trainers pokemon or be kidnapped and left to die a horrific frozen death by a quartet of psychotic murderous trainers after being completely creamed by them

    Personally i believe that in the pokemon universe the limiting of four moves and the moves that can be learned by pokemon are simply rules instated by the pokemon league. So for example Ash's Pikachu never forgot any of his moves (Quick attack, Thunder etc.) but instead ash chooses not to use them as he wants to use other moves (Volt tackle, thunderbolt, electro ball, iron tail). This would also explain how some pokemon are able to learn moves in one region or generation but no the next... because that regions pokemon league bans it... Like swagger in smogon :|
    p.s. please correct me on pikachus moves and that because i could be wrong (It's late and i don't want to do a whole bunch of reasearch to be 100% accurate with my example... sorry) but yeah its just a thought

    I'm not really bashing, and I'm not expecting it to change, nor do I really want it to because, you know.. success to who I watch on youtube and everything, but I hate constantly seeing people talk about their patreons on youtube. It's at the end of the video, which is appreciated, so again, not bashing Proto... just the main people I've been watching on youtube lately all seem to talk about their patreons.
    Instead of leaving the video with a thanks for watching :D I hear... "give me money through here."
    It only really makes its impact when I'm binging, and like I said I get it. If I was making youtube vids, I'd want to have a patreon and promote it too... But I was sure RUclips pays the uploader, and I just wanted to vent.
    Instead of leaving the video, "Okay cool :D" I always end up leaving "ughhhh... here we go with this patreon bull shit. -_-"
    If even one or two people donate every vid from the information, then it's definitely worth it because it helps/supports the uploader in what they're doing. Just from my seat, it's annoying. And I've already heard Proto talk about how he uses money from it to give toys to kids etc, so you don't have to waste your finger energy.
    It seems like patreon just came out of nowhere, and then all of a sudden it was everywhere.
    I'm done. I'm ready for all the butthurt commenters to be butthurt even after I expressed how I understand and still support him getting support albeit as a slight annoyance to me, but that's the internet.

    A few oddities I find weird about Pokémon: Are all the schools/colleges in the anime/game just to learn about Pokémon or do they teach others things??? And why is the history of this world always Pokémon related???

    Good theory, another plausible explanation is that the trainers can look up their Pokémon's moves in the Pokémon Storage System. The storage system possibly give trainers a summary of the Pokémon.

  • @R33ma
    @R33ma 7 лет назад

    In the first few episodes of diamond and pearl when Ash meets Paul, Paul checks the moves of multiple Starly's and chooses the one with Aerial Ace.
    So yes, you can use the pokedex to check moves. Not really a theory, just fact.

    some trainer train with their pokemon and found that their pokemon can do awesome stuffs, they then named the moves and popularize it. word got around that certain pokemon can do certain moves set so trainers all around train their pokemon to be able to do those moves, hence leveling up their pokemon. it's just like the command "sit" to your dog.
    then scientists MRI scan the pokemon's brain while it try to do that move, the brain pattern for specific move is recorded and reproduced in the form of TM, which when activated triggers electrical impulse into the pokemon's brain to recreate that move inside their brain, hence they learn a new move.

  • @AEaglesGame

    Because they are stored in the pokemon's data, trainers memorize them. If they said a move they didn't have then the pokemon wouldn't do anything and would be confused.
