Iron workers installing a 68,000 lb steal cross beam in Windsor, Ontario.
Gordie Howe International Bridge is a six lane bridge with a width that allows for a future expansion to eight lanes, and will still include the pedestrian trail. It's going be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America and will also set a world record for the longest composite steel and concrete cable-stayed bridge deck in the world.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge will connect Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario, in Canada. The bridge is named after Gordie Howe, who played for the Detroit Red Wings. The bridge will facilitate trade and traffic between the US and Canada and provide another crossing point between Detroit and Windsor.
The bridge is designed as a cable-stayed bridge, with cables anchored to pylons that support the bridge deck. This design allows for longer spans with a nice appearance.
Six Lanes: The bridge will have three lanes in each direction to for vehicular traffic between Detroit, Michigan, and Windsor, Ontario.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Access: The design includes pedestrian and bicycle access, providing alternative ways of transportation and recreational use of the bridge.
Customs and Inspection Facilities: The bridge will feature customs and inspection facilities on both the Canadian and U.S. sides to facilitate the fast flow of international trade and travel.

Thats one of the best videos on any subject matter ive ever seen. Almost like youre there working on it yourself feeling the tension of such a massive operation. Very cool.
Wow, thank you!
Todd Kobylarz. Are you related to Gerald William Kobylarz?
Drones have completely changed videography for the better. Great shots 💪🏻
Yes amazing to see GREAT captures
Thank you for watching the video!
Yes, awesome video, and with the music blended in as well.
Imagine if film was used... where would a big role of film go in a drone? How big would a drone have to be to record this?
Digital cards and cameras have come a long way to make this type of recording so much easier, not filming, there's no film as some people still call it.
Ironworkers, balls of steel!.......Very nicely done, Michael.
Thank you Mike!
I know they’re all safety-lined up, but it would still be a nasty tumble with all those bolts on the beams etc.
@@blueman5924 I wouldn’t want to fall on one of those bolts.
@@michaelanthonyvideosthey're called nelson studs. Gives tooth for concrete to bite on. 32 yrs bridge construction and i lived through it, barely. Ha
@@rockingchair2807 Hi Rockingchair, thank you for telling me. I just looked it up.
This is one of the best videos capturing the placement of the cross beam. Once the last sections are placed on both sides, the final measurement will be taken to make the joining road connector piece, likely in July.
Thank you for watching!
This is the Canadian crew working.
Fantastic video Michael. It's so amazing how much weight ypu can move with a spud bar. These guys are awsome. Such great team work!
@@paulzupon246 Thanks Paul! They make it look easy.
@@michaelanthonyvideos😊😊😊
Ironworkers don't get paid enough!
Gordie Howe Bridge brought to you by UNION IRONWORKERS!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
👍✌
Amazing just how easy they make it look. Without a doubt, one of the best how do they do it videos yet. Thanks Michael.
They do make it look easy. Thank you Kurt!
Great video, amazing how something that big fits in so easy, hats off to the men working 140' above the water, you can tell that the walleye are biting with all boats on the water
I have seen some videos of fisherman catching walleye in the river recently.
How many of these beams do the install a day on the Gordie Howe Bridge?
@@toddgalagan3376 Good question.
It's not good to be fishing right under the bridge. Something could fall down and hit you in the head, like a bolt, or a hammer, or an F150.
I think at least one of the boats is there in case of emergency.
What a wonderfully clear and vibrant video! Good job. I like how the work platforms and other essential items are already staged on the beam before the lift.
Thank you! The platforms are different on the Canadian side.
They are called angel wings
Absolutely the best of all Michael's videos yet presented! We finally get to see the drone hover in a perfect spot to witness the workers actually attaching a major component of building a magnificent bridge. I hope this is a harbinger of more to come as they inch closer to joining in the middle to complete the span. I predict that now Mr Anthony's subscriber count shall rise! 👍
Thank you Gilbert, stay tuned!
And each day the bridge gets closer to completion the owners of the original international bridge are shedding more tears. Their cash cow is going to take a big hit. They fought the new bridge tooth and nail, but to no avail... LOL. A new bridge was needed, to heck with their greed.
Great to watch, those workers on the bridge 👍👍. Also, terrific shot of the freighter passing underneath!
Thank you Blackmoom! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Another awesome video Michael. It satisfies the little boy in my who always liked watching the construction workers. I also gotta give kudos to the crane operator who is able to maneuver these huge pieces so gently and with such precision.
Thank you Scott! Stay tuned...
Great crane operator and the working crew on each end. Amazing. And great drone work!
They make it look so easy.
Union Ironworkers and Operating Engineers building North America since 1896!!
By far, the best videos I've seen. This was fantastic to watch. Thanks Michael!!!!!
Thank you for watching!
I would love to watch them install the cable wire that goes over the tower.
What a honor gordie howe was 1 of the Great
Best video yet. We actually seen something being installed.
Well planned and executed! Safety at each move. Who said ironworkers are not ballerinas? They dance on the iron.
Just another day at the office for those dudes. Holy shit they are bad asses. Great video.
Yes they are!
That gap is getting mighty small! Will be awesome to see it closed. 🙂
I took the CRANE to the site wen they started the Gordie howe bridge. Very proud of that. God protects the workers UP there.
Does a cran like that have some kind of CNC to assist the operator? It seemed like the crane could tell where the beam was at all times.
Wow, that's cool!
This is a stunning piece of video footage !! I enjoyed this rare opportunity to see something only a few people get a chance to witness ! Never underestimate Iron Workers !!
Glad you enjoyed it Sunny! Thanks for watching!
Great videography. The precision involved by the craftsman is truly astonishing. Thank you
Thanks for watching Jack!
The amazing part for me is the structural integrity of the towers and cable stays. Iron workers are certainly one the best crafts at using a crane safely and effectively. I have a lot of respect for a good raising gang. As a crane operator I can tell you they are a pleasure to work with.
What a pleasure to watch this process!
Thank you for watching!
Ironworkers & bridge workers are the elite of the building trades... When I was in my apprenticeship for a skilled trade I had the honor of working with them for a 10 hour shift walking the same steel beams... I'll never forget seeing how rapidly they can put I-beams in place... the things they do defy belief... Have so much respect for them... They're amazing day in and day out!
Yes they are!
No intention of ever going back to this kind of work but glad I got to do it for 5-6 years in my youth. Miss my Old Partner though, Bob Albrecht 1940 - 2017, pure happenstance put me in the business and put me with an Old Pro. Sometimes we just luck out that way.
Real men doing this work all the live long day.
I have never seen anything like this before, makes me proud to have been born at Holy Cross Hospital in Detroit in 1959.
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic project! Fantastic videography. Great drone shots. Thank you
Thank you Dave!
Extremely good drone work!
You got to where you needed to be!
Respect for all iron workers.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
What a honor for tbe howe family
Breathtaking work- wow. The precision and skill is seriously impressive. Noted also- the idiots in boats directly underneath "I can't imagine a single thing wrong with this..."
Thank you for watching!
Mind boggling not only the workers doing the work but the design the construction and making everything fit is just beyond my mind's capability. It's amazing what man can create when they put their efforts together.
Thank you for watching Railpast!
Excellent! How interesting, what another beautiful way to add to my education . Thank You for sharing the art of bridge building with Us💚
My pleasure!
Excellent video and great workmen!
Thank you Todd!
This is the best of these videos I've seen so far.
I'd love to see haw they string the cables
There is one, maybe Michael can post the link for it. Cool to watch!
Stunning and amazing, the work and the video. The precision of the crane operator, the daring of those men high above the Detroit River, a river you do NOT want to plunge into, the boaters below observing on this beautiful day, the lake freighter passing underneath, how perfect it all is. I drive by this every day going both to and from work, but the view from afar is so brief and unsatisfying.
They make it look like they're moving a little wood 2x4. Perfect!
Awesome video Michael! You are a pro at this now, thanks for the great views of iron workers on the job getting it done ✅
Thank you for your kind comments!
These are REAL MEN !!! And they know it !!! And as a construction worker of a different kind I know it also!!!
what about the computer guys that drew it up and designed it?
Your videos are amazing and such a fantastic way to document the tremendous work that is being done to build this bridge!
Thank you very much and thank you for watching!
Marvelous!! The weight that is cantilevered out there on those cables!
Thanks for watching!
great videography showing the skills of the crane Operator and Ironworkers. Only 1 bolt in each hole guys!
Damn bro, nice work. Both the bridge workers and video operator.
Thank you!
I could never do this job! Knees getting weak just watching.
It's not for everyone.
Getting close!! Nice job on the video, really enjoyed that. Thanks.
Thankyou Don!
Badasses! Awesome vid
Excellent coverage indeed👍
5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Many thanks 🙏
excellent dronework, great video
I wonder how many bolts they have dropped into the river so far! I would not like that job as it is too scary! Well done to the workers and thanks for the video 🙏
Good question. Thank you for watching!
Astonishing! You're editing! Your editing! Thank you so much.
Thank you very much Sue!
Well done ! 👏👏 Awesome views. 👍🍁
Thank you for your kind comments Blueman!
Enthralling and good music...brave workers.

Your giving and support helps so much!
Best video yet! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Very light girder (a beam is tranverse) for the 50+ bridges I've worked on and inspected. Oh ... it IS a beam! Used to have to walk on the contact welded studs. They can break off you know. Also had a No 11 bar break under the weight of one foot. Lucky it was only one. Taught me a lesson.
I hear there's work out East after you guys are done play here
Great job
Amazing work!!!
Thank you very much!
Great video
First class work did anybody notice that they weren't wearing sandals !
Badass workers awesome
AI will never replace these workers!💪💪👍👍
great video Michael !!
Thank you Lonny!
American Bridge Rocks
HEAVY METAL ! 👍👍👍👍👍 👌
Wow, no idea what is happening but that piece fit in so beautifully! How do they walk on or around those spikes?! Really big Lego!
This is the kind of bridge I believe they’re going to put up in Baltimore key bridge.
Pay attention men, don't worry about the camera!!! Great job.
And he waved too as if what they're doing is nothing.
Great video and excellent drone shots. Looking forward to the next one. I have a Mini 3 Pro, it sure adds to the fun.
Thank you! You have some cool train videos.
I wonder how many nuts and bolt and tools have ended up in the river
And there be fishing boats right under the bridge also. I think I would move a bit out of the way, they have the whole river to fish.
150 feet to connect Canada and the US are down to their final segments. In 6 weeks the keystone segment will be placed on the bridge then it will be complete.
Oh super awesome video. I'd really like to know how they install the cable stays.
I think I will stick to fixing cement trucks. You can have it. Huge respect stay safe. From the look of it you are going to have no shortage of work 👍🇨🇦🔧
I wonder how much stress and downward pressure is on those two unconnected spans at this time. Those cables must be pulling their weight....
good thing they can use a ruler,be funny if they met in the middle and off by like 6 inches lol
Excellent videography ...... Please capture video while putting side wires to hold the span.
Incredible filming, so precise and clear ... I wonder what drone you are using, Michael ?
Wow 🤯
Whenever I see videos or read comments stating emphatically that people in the ancient world were far more technologically advanced than we are now I think about videos like this one😂
Look at all the boats fishing for those walleye!
Yes! 👍
Killer video. (!)
Thank you for watching!
How many shear connectors do you want?
Yes
Other than the Hell Raiser Soundtrack, this is a very nice video.
Thank you! 😁
The most impressive part to me is how much those cables support from above without needing support columns. I would imagine that’s their plans for the new key bridge eventually. Might have to become an iron worker for a little bit and try to help build it. Shame Lu 16 isn’t around anymore
They can hold millions of pounds of weight.
Gordie!! Get your elbows up! If you know you know!!!
Man I’d hate walking around on those Nelson studs.
I would too. Thank you for watching!
Very nicely done indeed. (Not sure how or why pleasure boats are permitted to flit around under this structure while it's under construction).
Thank you for watching!
OH MAN !
How many bolts and studs will it take to complete that bridge?
How many bolts are in that bridge and my guess they are stainless? Or is Galvanized good enough.
Do you think that span sways a lot until it's completely connected.....Where's my dramamine.......
Looks like they need about 7,000 bolts per meter of bridge!
I wonder how many 1/4-20 bolts they used at each end to hold the girder in place, 16, 24?
The music made it for me
I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching!
Men with Hats. They are the best.
👍
Still can’t believe the project a year behind 🤷🏻♂️ . Started in 2018
I would like to see a video on how they install a cable stay.
Will the Canadian crew have the honor of installing the first horizontal piece connecting both sides?
Sure: ruclips.net/video/t3P8qfiymTE/видео.html
7:47 Fishing boat floating around under a 38 ton suspended load. What could possibly go wrong? “It’s only a 5 pound wrench falling from 200 +- feet!”
Crazy!
Any idea when the actual meet is scheduled to take place?
Latest projection is next month (?) That looks pretty likely, looking at this video.
6 - lane ? Needed that 40 years ago .... so still 40yrs behind
