Thanks man. It’s a momo prototipo 370mm they also come in 350mm. I swapped to the larger one because I went to manual steering so I still have a 350mm in the garage. You can buy just about any horn button for a momo.

My 87 with the depowered steering rack and momo wheel has a really heavy feel - even underway. How hard is your steering while underway with the manual rack? I am thinking I need to make the swap because it is kind of a bear but I dont want to do it if it is not really an improvement.

I really enjoyed the feel of it. It was heavier than the power steering, naturally. It provided great feedback and feel. I was running 225mm wide front tires and a 370mm momo wheel. I can’t comment on how it compares to a de powered rack. I’ve since sold the car but a guys with two buddies test drove / bought it and all three of them thought the manual rack was great in the car. Check out @nc944er he also has a video on this rack conversion

It’s got a nice sound to it… did you delete your catalytic converter?

Thanks sir. It has an unknown brand resonator / test pipe installed where the cat pipe fell completely off the vehicle during an unfortunate event. I have a video of the exhaust I built

Any other 944 plans in the works? Or just driving the heck out of it? 😂

I don’t really have any plans for it. I pretty much fixed all of its problems. Sadly I never get to drive it anymore. I now have a work truck that I drive so it just sits in the garage on a battery tender like my rock crawler. Toyed with the idea of selling it and buying another jeep. I don’t know

@@tims_4x4_garage Oh man, that sucks. You need some more stuff to break on it then, but that won’t happen unless you drive it… seems like a paradox! 😂 If you decide to sell, I would try to wait for the market to turn. Recent ones at auction have been taking a hit due to the economy dropping out the last few months.
Mine has been apart now for about two months. I just replaced the upper and lower balance shaft housing seals (kind of a PITA) along with new timing and balance belts. I’ve got the manual steering rack installed and just finished up the alignment. Haven’t taken it out yet, but Martin’s setup looks good so far.

@@NC944er heck yea man sounds like you’ve been busy. I really like driving it, I’ll probably keep it. I make excuses to drive it. I’ll run to the store and stuff in it occasionally but I’m not driving it to work everyday like I was last year.
I did upgrade my trailer to a 20 foot enclosed so I gained a parking spot at home which makes the garage situation a lot better so I don’t need to get rid of anything. The Porsche is going in the trailer this weekend because i have some work to do on the Toyota
I Look forward to your upcoming videos they’re always great. You put more effort into them than most people.

@@tims_4x4_garage No doubt! Hey, did you notice a break-in period with the manual rack at all? The movement of the rack and tie rods was fairly tight during installation, I guess because they are brand new, but I’m wondering if they loosen up over time. I took the car out and I’m finding the steering wheel is pretty easy to move 1/4 turn in either direction, but stiffens up pretty good after that when the tire angle really starts to change. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a manual steering car and may just take some getting used to. Also, did the 370mm wheel may make a difference on yours, did you test it against the 350mm for a comparison?
