  • Using kilmat, a knock off of dynamat, to sound deaden the rear compartment of my Porsche 944.
This will help eliminate or reduce the exhaust drone from the sport exhaust and it will also help to clarify the sound from the rear cargo speakers.

The sound of high speed rolling is strangely satisfying! 😂

Really appreciate this project being filmed. Found you from the 944er videos and will do this on both my 944’s as makes so much sense.

Just putting my 928 back together after adding sound deadening to it
I've done the enire floor and Toque tube tunnel usng 20 and 5mm foil lined foam
Should make for more comfy cruising long distances
Like you don't care abou pureism would much rather look forward to drivng it
Great video and hope it made a difference as expected

Another cheap alternative is the ice shield stuff for roofs. That's what I used in my toyota. Worked excellently

You shouldn't drive w/o a spare wheel in a 924\944\968. This was a safety feature, when Porsche constructs these cars. If somebody is crashing in the back, the spare tire is moved to the gearbox and then the forces are working through the transaxle tube to the engine. It's a lot of energy eaten this way and is substructed from the energy, which will hurt the passenger.
    In 30 years I owned 4 924, 1 924S, 1 944 2,7 and the best of the best a 968 Coupe

You got a source? I assumed that leaving spare wheel out creates additional crush space which makes the vehicle safer during a rear-end accident

@@PamirAFG I also wanted to put off the spare tire and discussed that, with Porsche engineers at Weissach while having a job as Consulting engineer.
As I learned, otherwise the shock goes directly after some cm to the car body AND the passengers.
Learn about physic and crash energie.
When I asked for mentioning this in the manual's, they told me, they don't want to explain complicated tecnics especially not to mix up US customers.

@@wolfgangallinger6839 tnx! I'll put mine back. People that designed 944 were indeed amazing, it handles better than most modern cars. Superb quality and design.

@@PamirAFG ok, one saved soul 😇
But never try a 968 coupe. It's more addictive than drugs. BTDT owned one for 10years. 60% on Autobahn 6th gear, flat out. Bridgestone S02, cup wheels.
About 20 classes of Porsche Sportfahrschule in all the 30 years, just to exercise difficult situation. Never crashed one of my 8 Porsche. About 650.000km overall. The 1st one was a 914 2L, then 7 transaxles.
The 968 was the only car, which was better than my skills. It always whispers, keep calm, I'll will save your ass 🤩

That’s a lot of weight you are putting in that car the car has nearly perfect weight distribution stock it’s a sports car not a limousine

Added less than 10lb here and ditched the spare tire, compressor, jack, power steering rack, power steering pump, cruise control, cat, etc etc. Please tell me more about how I messed up my car.

No mention on how you messed up your car Just stating my opinion, I've used my share of sound deander in the past I was told Just try to keep it low in the car. by the way i had one of those in the 90's that I picked up at an auction with a blown engine, I fabricated a stock 350 chevy with a four speed, you can set the engine back and get about an equal weight distribution.the Car was a rocket i wish i had it now amongst other things. Carry on!@@tims_4x4_garage
