  • Post Office legal chief Rodric Williams has been accused of “lying” after failing to admit that the organisation feared an Alan Bates victory would lead to a “cascade of criminal appeals”.
Mr Williams, who is currently head of legal in the Post Office’s dispute resolution and brand team, was being questioned over his previous role as a litigation lawyer for the scandal during the Horizon scandal.

The post office bosses are yet to play the trump card that will ensure they wont see a day in a cell. It wont happen in public view and we wont be told a thing about it but it will, as always, prove the existence of the two tier justice system and that card is "The old school tie network"

3 weeks ago I said that the people at the Post Office had no shame....
But now, I honestly Believe these people have no souls. They cared NOTHING about the damages they were causing simple, good and hard-working people. I say now that they are evil. There's really no other word for it.

Um, if we could get non-motorist jurors to sit on a jury when a motorist is being tried for manslaughter, or higher, we would get a greater conviction rate. Same could be said for high profile cases like this one. First, try to convince the Bar Standards Board that action is both warranted and in the public interest. Then observe the fall of shot.

My sisters and i were stitched up in our fathers will by our fathers long term solicitor of 40 years. It is hard for us to imagine how this man could have done all the things he did. His fellow executor got RPC (negligence) solicitors onto us to try and frighten us off. They seem to be nothing but corporate bully bodyguards. Other barristers i approached for advise spoke to us arrogantly and with contempt. I came to the conclusion that they would ask for the name of those involved on the pretence of 'conflict of interest' check, but then would call them up and ultimately decide how to handle me. Really, i called up the chambers and even the clerks were rude in their manner. I may sound paranoid to you but the solicitor who defrauded us has a cousin who is a judge and so probably has big F..r..ee..m...a....s......ry connections. Staff in their probate registry seem to protect this solicitor, as well helping cover up for him in non compliance with a court order. That is my experience of the legal world sadly.

I thought lawyers had an overriding obligation to the bar and the courts to see that justice is done, not that their clients win a case which is dubious. I can only presume that Rodric Williams is not a lawyer if he's not aware of that. A lawyer who actively seeks to prevent the CCRC reviewing a potential miscarriage of justice should be expelled from the bar.

On the contrary, it's my understanding that their aim is always to twist the law in favour of whoever is paying them.
Even if they were employed by the worst murderer or sex offender, they'd pull every trick in the book to get them acquitted on a technicality, provided they're rich enough to pay the bill.
