Not for nothing but I'd like to hear you talk more about the amp after you demo it. Certain I'm not the only one who wants to hear your opinions and observations on these things you show us
Thanks Charlie, I’m gonna do a clip about sound Vs feel, where we can discuss that in general. And Id be glad to make more comments at the end of the clips. Cheers
As an amp builder, I can add some input. The Brown/white Tolex amps were the first Fenders to have the tone controls sandwiched between the first and second gain stage, driven by the plate of the first one. The earlier Tweed amps had the tone controls driven by the cathode (cathode follower) at the end of the preamp just before the phase inverter. This new design allowed a cleaner sound but not too clean, such as with the next Blackface series amps. Remember Leo Fender was always trying to go for less distortion as his designs progressed. Back in those days distortion was a no-no. Glad there is enough gain on tap for a good balance of cleans and dirt!! As Johan rightly says, a great amp, as most of the Brown/white Tolex amps of 1960-1963 are. Great vid, Johan!
This is one of my favorite amps of all time. Had the chance to grab one for $600 back in 98-99 or so and I still kick myself every so often for not doing so. Get yours right now before the Johan effect triples the price.
Oh, yeah, brilliant work Johan! I have a 1960 Concert and that is exactly what it sounds like. It is very loud, so it doesn't always go the the gig, but when it does (mostly out doors) it is the best sound I could ask for. I love my Marshalls, but the Concert is pure brown Fender taken to Marshall volume levels. You do an excellent job of educating guitar players on what their amp options are and I enjoy your channel very much. Rock on, brother.
I used to have an amp exactly like this, same year. It was my main amp for about 10 years and it is still the best sounding amp I ever played through. For a moment I thought this was my old Concert because of the dent in the faceplate, but the dent in mine was on the input side and the grille cloth had a tear on it too. It also had the original Oxford speakers. For most of the time I had it I swapped two of the Oxfords for Tonetubby alnicos and while it made the amp a lot heavier, the sound was EPIC! The normal channel sounded almost like a plexi and that harmonic vibrato... yeah! It ended up getting sold on Ebay and being shipped to Holland as far as I recall. Thanks for taking me on a trip down memory lane!
The second and third amps I ever played through, were new Fender Concerts like this one ... First amp I ever played through was a 1960 Fender Pro. Great sound you have here!!
I love the fact that you actually play all your instruments....that's pretty cool. Adds a level of authenticity. But I have to agree with the previous commentator, your opinions are valued so give more of them. Who cares if people disagree. You are in a special situation having access to so many incredible amps that many of us can only dream about playing. Cheers!
Great tone was promised and delivered! Happy Wednesday to me! Thanks Johan! Inspiring jam, also have to compliment you on the brilliant bass tone! Before too long I'm going to want all the old Fender's, Marshall's and Vox's :)
That thing sounds A-MAZING!! I've always been a fan of 4x10 cabs and this one demonstrates why. Deep, clear, cutting tone for days! I've got a Bassman 10 which is very similar to this amp but has a closed cab. Sounds killer too.
I have a Concert-Amp (dated Sept 1960 on the build sticker). Yep, it's basically a '59 Fender Bassman 4x10". The Fender Bassman does not have the harmonic trem circuit that the Concert-Amp does so the Concert beats the Bassman in that area. I love mine. And they are rare, they were the lowest selling version of the Brownfaced Professional Series amps.
The harmonic tremolo on the Concert adds compression and takes away much of the immediacy of attack that makes the tweed Bassman so great. But the Concert is still cool. I prefer some of the other brownface amps, though.
These Concerts are awesome! The one amp I wish I never sold, that thing sang, and was no louder than a healthy blues junior because of the speakers it had, great stage amp!
Hi Johan, love the channel! Would love to see a comparison between a 50s Fender Champ and a Marshall Super Lead, considering that what people assumed were Marshalls on rock n roll recordings in the 70s were often Tweed combos instead! Ala Kiss for their Eddie Kramer productions.
Honestly, I think this amp is more highly coveted for the very univibe-like "harmonic tremolo" circuit that was only used in the brownface amps. Very cool sounds.
Back in the late '70s/early '80s a local store had one for sale for $200US. It needed a new handle and new tubes and I didn't buy it. Big mistake on my part I suppose. Around that same time I traded a Yamaha Thirty 112 even up for a 1957 Fender Princeton at the same store. Foolishly I didn't keep that amp more than a couple years (and was excited at the time to sell it for $150US!!!). C'est la vie!
Hi, Johan! Normal Fender's voice, I must to fix my Performer, but have no time. And you got U2 sound - my favourite album "WAR" is very respectful creation!:-) See you! Zigfrid
I had not heard of that amp before. Sweet tones. Would love to hear more about it and your thoughts on how it compares to other amps that you enjoy playing through. Rock on bro!
Got a '61 'blonde in another life' tremolux basically stock but running a 500volt PT (and the requisite caps)...in it's current iteration. Been on fire (literally 5 foot flames!), blown up multiple times...cab is half charcoal...and I still run serious high gain stuff through it and I still play it daily...the '58 tweed bassman is stored...just saying... :O)
I am amazed you only have 59K subscribers Johan. It should be 10 times that. Every guitarist from beginner to pro should know about you. Esp your more leftfield videos (how does a tree sound (my personal favourite :) torn speaker cones etc). You the man! Do you have any videos of you performing live with a band out of interest?
i love your demos and channel in general, but a fender amp needs to be demo'ed with a fender strat in the first place! ;-).... having said that, you are a master of tone - congrats! fantastic demo and sound.
Hi Johan, next time you do a shot like this I reckon it would look great if you wore blue and white. It would look like a band of Smurfs all working diligently together! But seriously, is it a good amp? I know you're a Marshall man. Have you ever reviewed an old MusicMan amp? I'd like to hear your opinion if you have.
Another Great show as always Johan. I accidental posted the same comment on another video I had going on my other screen and thought I was posting on this one. Hey have you tried the Hamstead Amp 60RT. If so what do you think of it, and if not could you get your hands on it and demo it. Thank You for Your TimeChad Baglin
Seriously, think about making a coverup album or blues jam album. I'll be the first one to buy it! Kind of sad that I won't be seeing your videos for 2 years from now, I have to go to military service

I swear any Gibson with humbuckers sounds good through a fender. They are very complimentary
One of my favorite Johan and the Segeborn's jams. Killer tone.
Thanks man, great to hear that!
'Yams' 😂
Yay! The band is back! Great mix and demonstration! Lovely amplifier also! Thanks for sharing brother! Be Well Johan!
Thanks my friend!
’Affordable’ HOLY GRAIL Tweed Bassman TONE! - Brownface Fender Concert Amp
Cheers
Johan
Probably not anymore since you made a video about. Cheers Johan from Texas :)
@@TeddyxxMexx something tells me that in about 14 minutes, this amp is gonna shoot up in price
@@TeddyxxMexx Cheers Teddy! ;-)

It is my dream to own a vintage fender amp with a 4x10. They're magic
Logan Payne. i own a 71 super reverb non mv. it is very magical
Affordable until Johan called it holy grail.
I heard that! Lol
Yeah. Reverb is adjusting as we speak.
;-)
....I just but 3 of em
I think he called the Bassman “Holy Grail”, but your point still stands since he called it a more affordable take on the Holy Grail.
I was waiting for a crushing open E chord at the end! The amp sounded nice, had a certain sharpness in tone for a very clean sound.
Oh, yeah, brilliant work Johan! I have a 1960 Concert and that is exactly what it sounds like. Holy shrines! What a tone. Love you impersonating the whole band. Very fantastic.
So good to hear that! Cheers
"welcome to the machine"
Man, those high tone chords so sound pink Floyd :)
U-2 sometimes too.
Thanks Eivind! That’s great to hear!
Very Pink Floydesque! Is that a word? Man I love this song!
I love the track you put together .Its kinda spacey, Airy I like those sounds. Fantastic demo!@!
Thanks! Really good to hear that!

Nice to hear someone play who can tune a guitar.
THE amp sound of Motown hits!
Holy sheit.................... that's just an awesome tone you got there.
Thanks Johnny!
Dude, that was inspired! I’d love to see more of this amp and your awesome riffs.
Thanks Mark, I’m so glad to hear that!
Du spelar och arrangerar så himla bra Johan! Tack tack tack för att du fortsätter att dela med dig!
That is a brilliant edge of breakup tone on the left, when the two cleans play together it sounds perfect. And I don’t even like clean tones normally.
Thanks, glad to hear that!
The trem/vibe on those amps is to die for.
I loved it too
1960 6G12 featured in the March 2019 Vintage Guitar mag (Geddy Lee cover). Thanks for the great video! More shimmer than blackface snap.
Thanks Steve!
Matching band uniforms are great.

Hell yeah, at last we got some more one-man-Johan-band videos. Awesome tone as usual 👌
Thanks man, glad to hear that!
Awesome, mesmerizing jam, and a simply fantastic sounding amp. Very nice.
Sweet got real crystal clear highs and a lot of mojo ...super tones Johan
Thanks Gerry!
Love the mix!
I bought one of these Concerts except mine was covered in white tolex, from the factory. Bought at an auction for $175 about 20 years ago.
Nice groove!
This is brilliant! Really catchy and a great groove.
Thanks Andy! :-)
Beautifully evocative clean tone!!!
nice groove - love the jump cuts.
Sounds fantastic. Love the song Johan! It's great to hear it in the mix, and just a full band song again from you.
Lots of work of love loop .
Yeah, the drum loop is pretty short
That thing sounds A-MAZING!!

Great tone, amazing time keeping too!
Great to hear that David, Thanks!
This is a hot jam.
"Affordable" - well not for long I bet :D
Nice to see your clones in action again!
Cheers Perry! ;-)
2k or so for a good unmolested one. Pretty affordable in the scheme of things.
As usual your playing is awesome mate.
Thanks man! Great to hear that!
sounds great dude.
Johan amazing video. I like brownfaces. They look cool and are in the mid between tweeds and blackfaces....
That tremolo is to die for. I am strongly considering cloning one of these brownface circuits with that harmonic tremolo.
Yeah I really liked it too

Mr Segeborn sir thanks for all your awesome vids keep it up!
Thanks Rick! I’m really glad to hear that!
I love brown amps - even with an SG there is almost a surf shimmer going on here. Awesome
Thanks! Yeah great definition in tone

Fantastic.
My 62 had a hodge podge of junk speakers. Now it has 4 p10r's from Hammond organ speaker cabinets and sounds pretty damn close to my 59 Bassman.
stevie ray vaughn used one when I saw him play as a guitar amp....awesome sound
Honestly, I think this amp is more highly coveted for the very univibe-like "harmonic tremolo" circuit that was only used in the brownface amps. Very cool sounds.
Theres an absolutely amazing cover of Welcome to the Machine hiding in this jam.
One of these just popped up for sale near me. Tempted.....especially because I have a place where I can play big amps as loud as I care to.
Johan & the Segeborns rock AGAIN! \m/
Very grungy track for you Johan! I liked it tho (90s were my youth years)
I think you should go on tour

Look for an RD50. Awesome amps and only slightly bigger and heavier than a Vibro Champ. Will stand up to larger Fenders and take pedals very well.
