What happens when you need a new roof? It's clay you can go 60 years but still if it's a 30+year roof that's a underlying situation if you decide to keep it longterm
@Nexusly When Tesla solar technician comes out to do on site inspection, he will inspect your roof condition and let you know if you need to repair or replace your roof before they can start installation. Thank you for watching. Please subscribe for future contents : )
Curious, did you ever move forward with solar with anyone and if so, how has it been?
@@abelievnguy I went with Tesla, since I changed the system design they had to resubmit new design to the city which delayed the whole process. I will update with a new video when they come to install.
@@dadstoyscars I've had my solar roof for 8months
thanks for sharing the video.
Im living in San Francisco and also want to get Tesla panel?
why don't you install Powerall because I heard it's a battery backup power. Is Powerall necessary to install or just a waste of money? thanks
I didn’t get powerwall because of the coast and not necessary in my area. The cost of powerwall is 10K which is about the same as my solar system. I’d rather add more solar panels than getting powerwall. Especially if you have electric cars. Powerwall is a back up battery for your house in case the power in your area is out.

@@dadstoyscars thanks sir
@@vuhuynh702 You’re welcome 😉
@@dadstoyscars without Powewall, how can you use electric at night? How is the excess electricity ⚡️ from solar create more than you house use? 😊 and how is raining day like?
@@vuhuynh702 You will use the power from the grid at night, but during the day all the power that being over produced from the solar panels will go back to the grid which you will get the credit back from your power provider. There are not that many rainy days here in SoCal. The production from the panels will be less than half on the rainy day.
Hello, I noticed while viewing your video that you have a beautiful tree just to the right of your electric panel on the right side of your house. It almost looks like a green palm tree trunk but then there's some beautiful plant style foliage. Do you know what type of tree it is looks like you just trimmed it in the video. ?
Hi Jim, I believe it’s a papaya tree.

Would like your take on the Renewable Energy Credit Agreement that was part of the contract…. I’m stuck on that and wanted to understand it a bit more of what the pros & cons are for giving up your RECs to Tesla. Thank you!
Hi Sylvia, Do you mean giving your usage records from your electricity company to Tesla? If in that case I wouldn't worry about it because in order for Tesla to calculate more accurate numbers for your usage to get the right system size that fit your need, they will need that info. If you meant net metering, then that's on your electricity provider company to decide how per kWH you will get as a credit when your system over produce and put the power back to the grid.
I hope I answer your questions if not please let me know.

@@dadstoyscars Thanks for your reply. Nope, I wasn't referring to giving the SCE bills to Tesla or the Net metering. On the solar packet they provide upfront, there's a section that talks about "Getting Environmental Credit for Going Green".. hence the "RECs". I was able to get Tesla advisor to answer my question. This is what they said:
The RECs have variable value and are based on the amount of energy your system produces. Due to the variable value of RECs and the complexity of helping customers with the REC process, Tesla no longer provides that service. Tesla now retains custody of the REC and gives an up front discount on the system to compensate. The pros of you retaining custody of the renewable energy credit would be possible monetary gains in the future. The con is the variable value of the REC and it is not really possible to tell how quickly you will generate them. Selling them is also not always an easy process.
At any rate, they called me later (advisor #3) and answered other questions we had. Then they told me it will now take anywhere between 6-12 months to install and up to 3 months to power on.
@@sylviapoon3213 Thank you for your detail explanation. Tesla told me that I got my order in just in time before they ran out of supplies. My order took about 4 months from the day I order to the day they came out to install the system. Now everything is approved and just wait for SCE to okay to turn the system on.
I'm also living in SoCal too and SCE customer. May i ask how long it took you from placing the order to receiving the PTO?
It took them about 6 months in total from the day I ordered. Sometimes it depends on where you live and their supplies chains issue at the moment.
If you order now it shouldn’t take that long. If you decided to order it, you can use my referral link to get $300 back on your order from Tesla:

Thanks for the video. I have about the same electrical use as you. Tesla recommends a 4.80 kW system which will give me an energy offset of 71%. I would like the energy offset to be in the mid 90%. At what point after placing the order can you add additional panels to the Tesla recommendation?
It’s better to give them about a week after you put in the order and submit all of your electric bill. It took them 3-5 days to get more accurate watt hours per year numbers from your power provider. My final system is 5.2 KW which should cover about 96% of my energy usage. They finally came to install the system last month. I will soon upload the installation video.

Thx for sharing. Very helpful for solar/ESS shopper! My Tesla Project in progress for 11 months (12 panels/2PW2+). Had not known Tesla had complete satisfaction guarantee. They’ll take back even install system w/o any cost. Really? Do you have a link to written document that states this? Good job. I’ve subscribed and will be looking for your install…
Hi Bill, I couldn’t find the documents but I’m sure that you can cancel anytime before they come in for installation or 1 week after installation is done. Please try to consult with Tesla solar project advisor for cancellation info. Did they come in to install your solar panel yet? My project was delayed because I changed the design by adding more panels so they had to resubmit the plan to the city and also the supplies shortage. They will come in beginning of March.
Thank you for watching and thank you for your support Bill! 🙏😃
@@dadstoyscars Not installed yet. Many delays, many reasons. After getting this far, no plan to cancel, but nice to have option.
@@gilbrook I won’t cancel my either 😃 After all Tesla is still the most affordable option out there unless you plan to install it yourself.
@@dadstoyscars Not just low cost. PWs provide highest capacity voltage & amperage against all competitors.

Interesting, Tesla roof requirements say that they can't install panels on a clay or slate roof?
I believe so, my roof is concrete tile.

Do you know If I can get my loan through a third party and not Tesla?
And also. When do you give the down payment?
I believe you can. It’s similar way when you purchase a car, you select cash when you place your order and get third party loan. But I would try to call them and consult with one of their advisers.
