    Great job of explaining how to accomplish this task. I actually have a different model Epson printer than you're demonstrating with. I own an ET-4760 Ecotank printer. But Epson's video is not as good as your video. You helped me understand that I needed to lift both sections of the scanner unit and force it open past the resistance point until the scanner unit stayed in place in the upright position.
    This is different from just lifting up the top scanning plate. I had a difficult time making the scanner unit stay in place in the upright position.
    I hope my comment helps other people. Some videos are much more helpful than others.

    I watched the video, no mystery remains, I changed ink with no mess and no parts on the floor. Good video! Thank you. Yes, I had to gently lift both top section until it remained up. Down in one motion. Ink fills promptly, I did tap the bottle to start flow. No part of this required any extra effort.

    The tops of the bottles are notched differently so they will only fit on their corresponding "tank".
    There should not be a situation where ink is put into the wrong color tank.

    I own an ET-4760 Ecotank printer that uses the same type of ink. You do not have to worry about mixing the ink in the incorrect container.The ink bottles are uniquely slotted and are not interchangeable.

      You would think so, but I’ve seen someone manage to force the wrong colour toner into an $10,000 copier to the point it registered it as installed then proceeded to print causing the complete malfunction of the machine. These toners were also keyed!

    You should have mentioned resetting the ink levels. This can be done by going to 1. Home 2. Maintenance 3. Reset ink levels 4. Next (assuming tanks have just been filled) 5. Selecting the colors that were just filled 6. Reset

  • @SkiesWillBeBlue

    This might be a stupid question, but I was just wondering - after I've filled all my ink tanks initially, some ink gets used after the printer charges the print heads (or does something like that), so I see the ink levels have gone down almost one line. There was some ink leftover in each of the bottles after initially filling - can I now use the rest of the ink in these bottles to fill the tanks up a bit again? Or is it recommended to only fill the tanks when they are almost empty?

    What's the difference between 502 and 542 ink? Looking at the et-15000, which comes with 502, but it's said that people like using 542 instead. Why is that? Both say pigment, but is one different than the other?

    I have an EPSON ET-2760, and it's basically impossible for me to see how much ink is in my ink tanks. The plastic is too thick or something... Even if I use a flashlight to try to illuminate it--I have no idea how much ink is in my printer 'cause I can't see it. Also--I tried putting more ink in my printer, and all I'm getting right now is black ink prints... They need to re-design the EcoTank a bit. I haven't even printed a bunch and I'm not really getting any color prints... Pretty disappointed. I wonder if my ink dried out--I feel like I shouldn't have had to buy more ink this soon... If they redesign one thing about the EcoTank, it should be the plastic that holds the ink. It needs to be easier to see through so one can better know how much ink is in their printer.

    • @TallysVids
      @TallysVids Год назад +1

      Because you get heaps more ink in the ink bottles than you do in an ink cartridge. For example, with my Brother printer, the ink cartridges hold 7.5 ml of ink. A bottle of the Epson ink is 70 ml and the ink tank holds around 65 ml. So you can see from this where the savings come from.

    TIP: DO NOT throw away the empty Epson ink bottles; SAVE THEM! Why? Well for one, the bottles are DUMMY PROOF. Each bottle will only fit in one of the tanks. There is no way to make a mistake by putting the wron color in the wrong tank because of the tabs on the side of the tops. So when filling the tanks, you can use refillable ink that come in 500ml bottles.

      Exactly what I was looking for. So, we can refill the cartridge with local cheaper ink as well, right or we need to refill only exclusively with Epson ink that would be costlier in comparison. Please clarify.

      I was wondering the same thing. At what point can I "refill" to get rid of the little extra I have in each of the bottles after the initial fill. I suppose I could try after some ink has gone down some (it already did with the first fill) but would love to know if there is a particular line on the tank to consider or not.

    • @allisterfrost
      @allisterfrost Год назад +3

      @@jeffgoode3411 You can refill whenever you wish. I usually wait until the tank is around half full, then top-up. That way the tanks never run dry and I can also check I have sufficient ink left in the bottles for the next refill (or buy more as needed)

      Don't let it go empty, when it gets to the bottom line, refill. Myself I was confused with instructions. It seems the power is not supposed to be ON when originally filling, but then the power was on for this instrcuction.
