have you ever heard Gran Hechicero? guy plays metal on a small 3 string guitar, sounds so epic! check this out ruclips.net/video/AkCzJDlzCSo/видео.htmlsi=t1-6aURdajwMz79w CC is english, guitar comes in around 30 seconds, you're video and tones reminded me of him, hope you enjoy! thanks for sharing!
After I tore my rotator cuff, I can’t play my baritone 8 string due to the range of movement required. This could be something I could eventually transition to. Thanks for sharing this instrument Pete.
Happy to help. This would definitely struggle to get down to the range of an 8 string but you could however pitch shifting digitally using a Drop Pedal or plug-in :)
This might work really well as a nother layer over a drop A baritone and drop A bass. Could fill out the higher range that modern metal has mostly just abandoned except to make alien noises
That guitar with a hot rails pickup might sound kinda rad for leads (short scales are unexpectedly good for it soundwise, especially in the hard rock realm), not gonna lie
I would imagine it would still be good for melodic metal styles, like power metal and melodeath. And I could see a shredder getting good use out of the shortened fretboard.
Haha, I considered doing a video like this about this exact guitar in 2020 but instead ended up just posting a meme on Reddit about it being a yakuza guitar because the description read "not everyone has long fingers (and we're not implying something criminal here)", which I'm still convinced has to be what it actually implies unless I'm missing something obvious. So, seeing this video was nice. Kinda surprising how well it actually works, at least for this type of metal. For doom metal or deathcore, I'm not sure if putting thicker strings and downtuning such a tiny guitar would work, but some people think regular scale length and downtuning to A standard with 13 gauge strings wouldn't work either. I guess there's still a difference between doing that and doing even drop B or whatever with this guitar, so dunno, but it would be interesting to hear... assuming the neck wouldn't just snap.
Ok but now I dare you to write a song using this tiny guitar _and_ a baritone guitar (in the A tuning ofc) instead of the bass! This could open some wild possibilities.
That is Not the Smallest. I have seen them 1/4 or more Smaller and was even going to buy one once but did not have the $$$ to. I hid it or tried to, came back the next day and it was gone.. Now, were they Custom made??? I do not know.
Weirdly I can actually see uses for that having heard it. The higher octave adds something very different harmonically for the lead parts. If you blended it with some normal scale guitars the results could be pretty cool
What if you put kallium, baritone, 13 or 14 gauge strings in case I want to go lower (lets say E standard, like bartone on 5th fret) with this tiny travel guitar? Wonder, if intonation wouldn't be a problem?
I think it definitely would be a problem. I used 7 gauge strings for this which were perfect but thicker strings and lower tunings would definitely cause issues :)
I played metal on the smallest guitar in the world and it sounds totally ridiculous lol

Your drums sounds always great. What drums you use?

You could actually play a stranger I remain from metal gear rising, since the song is in drop D# (or drop d with capo on 1st fret)
This might work really well as a nother layer over a drop A baritone and drop A bass. Could fill out the higher range that modern metal has mostly just abandoned except to make alien noises
I need one of these, bad 😂
Were you listening to thunder horse before you wrote this?
Haha no, that's the Metalocalypse band right?
That's actually a song from the Metalocalypse band, they're Dethklok! 🤘🏻
@@peteplaysmusicyes the melodeath part sounds kinda like it

Love that hint of "Thunderhorse" haha JAM ON, BRO!! \m/ >.< \m/
Thank you! I couldn't figure out why it sounded familiar haha
Can't even imagine how tight those bass strings were to play.
These are actually 7 gauge strings so it wasn't too bad. I was surprised that I could bend notes honestly :)
Adorable 🥰
Your skills are always amazing Pete, that was really insane bro, killer play !!!!!!! 👏👏👏
Thanks! :)

Sounds ridiculously awesome! METAL is about your attitude, your outlook on life, and your ability to communicate that attitude and outlook.
i get children of bodom vibes from this
A7x recommended.. 😊😊
I wonder how drop tuning sounds like at stock configs
Bad ass as always! Thanks, Pete! Keep being awesome and showing us these things we didn't know we needed the information of in music! \m/
New genre: Tiny Metal

It also makes you look bigger ;)
Haha okay, you got me. This is in fact a normal sized guitar and I am secretly 8 feet tall :)
Smash the thrash on that tiny thing pete, epic, didn't expect anything less from you bro 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
Don't think I didn't notice Crazy Train in the chorus Pete. Cause I did
And of course, if you want to play this minitar in normal or lower pitches, higher gauge strings or a whammy pedal could help with that.
I didn't mention it but I actually had to use 7 gauge strings for this and it's tuned up to A Standard!
I can play a guitar smaller than that. It's my loser friends who call it a "ukelele"
For Science!!!
For Science!
i have kinda small hands so i got a similar one to this a while back for fun. now my hands feel too big! xD
how is a travel guitar any more 'gimicky' than this thing?
Sylosis vibes
It could be such a piece for power metal machine
this boggles my mind. why? and how? and why? again
Ok but now I dare you to write a song using this tiny guitar _and_ a baritone guitar (in the A tuning ofc) instead of the bass! This could open some wild possibilities.
What is the name of the song you played in this video
Inverted power chords would sound do good on this.
The song's an actual banger!
reminded me Standard E Sylosis era
Short scale guitars are great for people with smaller hands. You just need to put a heavier gauge of strings on them to compensate for the scale.
You do run into intonation issues, however yes it can absolutely work :)
3:22 there should be a banana for scale, lol
Turn it into a headless!
Ngl, I actually really like that
the size is does not matter...
I've actually looked into this guitar, as a gift for my nephew. Also, I wanna buy their shortscale p bass for myself
I can only speak to my experience but this was actually very good right out of the box. No sharp fret ends and it stayed mostly in tune :)
Finally a guitar for my tiny hands!
Robin hands 👐
What tuning was that? Pretty cool stuff though!
Meh-uh bands
So bad ass~

Well, perhaps not. But this and the Vox I mentioned near the end were the smallest I could personally find :)
Weirdly I can actually see uses for that having heard it.
The higher octave adds something very different harmonically for the lead parts. If you blended it with some normal scale guitars the results could be pretty cool
lol guitar sounds good, I think it's mostly the player making it sound great!
Thanks! :)
Sounds like children of bodom
Thanks! It was very influenced by COB :)
so... what tunning was that?
A Standard
You played metal on the smallest guitar in the world and it sounds totally awesome lol
What Doom 1993 music sounds like after you come back from Doom 2016
Great video as usual ! Next step of metal is to tune up and then drop an octave with pitch shifter ;-)
mrpanda used to play one of these, sick guitarist even though he has stopped posting videos a few years now :/
Haha this is insane! The riff is awesome Pete, you should made a full track/song!
That's SO awesome 👌
Thanks! :)
Does anyone do happy metal?
The is a Channel here on RUclips that does exactly this :)
@@peteplaysmusic I mean Electric Callboy kind of counts?
Power metal?
sick jam!

Paul Gilbert’s fingers are like a foot long he doesn’t have issues anywhere near what the rest of us do. Lol
This is true haha
Why is the saddle for the D string so much more forwards than the other ones?
That's just where it needed to be to intonate for some reason :)
Awesome song man, Please try some chonk, gotta get those inverted power chords out!
Love those inverted power chords. Reminds me of Sylosis and Dimmu Borgir :)
Oh man. New Sylosis kicks ass! Throne gives me such edge of the earth vibes ❤️
I've often thought of a guitar like this to harmonise with myself without having to know where the notes should be.
Sounds like a cool idea! :)
