I love the guitar. The riff is god. From Sabbath to 80’s thrash to 90’s Death metal to innovators like Meshuggah, Fear Factory and Strapping Young Lad. It’s all good. The variety we have as metalheads is insane. Dying Fetus Reign Supreme is a modern classic. Gojira From Mars to Sirius is kickasre too. Modern mainstream has some problems, but it’s not all bad. Old or new, metal is all about the riff. Just enjoy it people. BTW... Dave Mustaine has written some of the best riffs and leads in the history of metal. Who gives a shit about his voice. James “downstroke” Hetfield And Mustaine paved the way for everything from Death and Groove Metal to Metalcore. Respect where it’s due. Peace out.
1. He did not say that they weren’t influential, he said he doesn’t like them, an opinion, not a fact. 2. What is it with Metalheads that only ever go by the riff, like there’s a whole bunch of things that go into metal, like rhythm, timbre, heaviness, etc. A reasonable person would pick out their favourites based on how well the bands handle all these aspects together in one of their albums, but let’s just ignore all of the talent that goes into the little details of our favourite music and go by the REEEPHHHHHH!!! 3. The idea that vocals don’t matter really tells me that you’ve never actually pay attention to it, and hence how little you pay attention to the music. For example, Lord Worm has to be one of the greatest Death Metal vocalists of all time, and he nailed None So Vile to the wall of legacy, and his absence in later albums really left a massive whole in many a Cryptopsy fan. If vocals didn’t matter, why would we care so much if one of them was replaced?
Alan Ross LOL, that actually made my saliva slobber on my bass. I was playing it while watching the video, checked the comments, saw this one and when I opened my mouth... Yeah I'm not proud of this, it's pretty retarded. But Its funny.
"Venom never did any of the shit they said they did, it was all for attention" You do realise Burzum and Vikerne did the exact same thing right? He himself said on his channel that not one person in that scene actually believed in it and it was all for attention. I respect your opinion, but man that's fucking hypocritical
cutiekazoe10 my ass is burning from all the hurt. How dare he have an opinion of what he likes or doesn't like. Every one here definitely has to complain and make comments on his appearance, it's the way of the RUclipss, has been since the dawn of time.
Personally I think Necrophagist is good at song writing and the wankery is tastefully done, but I fully understand that some folks cannot enjoy listening to them.
Megadeth riffs are boring? Dude, the riffs on Rust in Peace are some of the coolest riffs I've ever heard in metal. Lucretia? Tornado of Souls? Five Magics? Come on, now.
JustJoshingYT Yes, agreed. I'm personally not a big fan of Take No Prisoners and Poison Was The Cure. But the other 6 songs are absolutely legendary from start to finish.
If someone else was singing on & the vocal parts were almost entirely different (especially on the ones with super Annoying choruses like 5 magics & the title track) then maybe you’d be right bro😂
@@TheDretch It just isn't my style of guitar work, that's all, and I feel the same about Metallica's solos in their 80s material. Lots of traditional metalheads will think this is total sacrilege, but I've always found flashy 80s metal guitar solos to be really corny and distasteful. Metal bands can be technical and complex without self-indulgent wankfest solos.
The only band on your list I like is Megadeth. Rust In Peace is one of my favorite albums of all time. The rest of the bands you mentioned, I've either never heard of or never really liked much to begin with.
haha I can completely understand people hating Vio-lence's vocals. Sean Killian defenitely has an odd vocal style that is not for everybody. I love Vio-lence though those riffs on eternal nightmare come on now xD
We probably would not get along on music, my favorites are 1. Exodus, I loved the sarcastic ( rip) vocals on " Tempo" and songs like " only death decides". 2. Pantera, " mouth for war" and " suicide note" plus many others. When the country has come to the conclusion its not ok to be white, Phil Anselmo showed that declaring a slaughter of all white people, riots hunting down random whites and jumping them , pissing on them and posting it was ok. Phil stating its b.s. just showed how hypocritical people are when he was attacked. Black football players are throwing black panther fists when a white person is tackled. 3. Tribulation- children of the night, great album 4.White zombie, great albums 5. Type o negative 6. Alice in chains, mad season, great with Staley. 7. 1980s Metallica 8. Smashing Pumpkins, gish and siamese dream 9. Lamb of God 10. Slayer, undisputed attitude, seasons 11. Strapping young lad 12. Bolt thrower, sacrifice, heathen, Classic celtic frost, edge of sanity dark angel

813lynch great bands- I like C.O.C alot- are you familiar with the "Blind" album and the vocalist on it? I liked him more than the Reg. Vocalist ( pepper- i think) Songs like " eyes of god" " painted face"- i could see it might annoy some people-. Also, I caught a Type O negative, life of agony, and a band called " wickerman" triple header in 96. Wickerman sounded like maybe some c.o.c members put it together- ever heard of them?
well..now what do we have here ? don´t be stupid ! just because Hipsters (whatever that actually is) have beards does NOT make every beard a 'hipster beard' ...meditate about this for a couple of minutes...you might grow a bears while doing so .. in the meantime don´t be simplistic....boring.
Eric Wright I just checked em out too. He says Megadeth doesn't have any good riffs, Burzum doesn't have ANY riffs! Most amateurish, boring, redundant, painful crap I've ever heard.
As mainly a death metal guy, thats exactly what I thought when I first listened to them. A couple months later I came back but listened to it with a different approach and in the right setting. Then it just clicked, Burzum is now one of my favorite bands. It's not about really about the riffs or the technicality of the instruments. It's all about the atmosphere and the feeling you get. My favorite song from them is Det Som En Gang Var, it just takes you on an emotional journey. As does Tomhet, there are 3 parts to that song and for me they represent drifting away and dying, the soul leaving the body, and finally departing for the afterlife. But that's just me. All I can say is either it clicks or it doesn't.
I'm really confused by your comment that Deicide basically did nothing for death metal. Now, what I'm going to say is my opinion and not fact, but I think the Hoffman brothers were writing some of the most vicious riffs of all time back then. Deicide's all around sound back in the late 80's was simply more threatening and extreme than Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy, and even Morbid Angel if you ask me. I always heard back in the day the early Deicide shows were fucking downright insane and even violent. I totally understand that not everyone will share my opinion on this, but I believe that if Deicide did one thing, it was bring a level of extreme to death metal that wasn't there prior. Fuck, Glen burning crosses into his forehead and live shows with animal guts everywhere? Bad ass riffing and guts makes me a happy guy! But, like I said, only my opinion.
Deicide were highly influential. Of course is Glen an old fart and his more recent output is a bit meh and tastes of "I need money for my retirement" but, eff that. Still a classic.
This comment section's triggered babies are the reason the metal community gets a bad reputation. We all get defensive of our favorite bands and we have some that we dislike, but in the end they're just opinions. Why can't we just focus on the fact that we all like metal in general? There's no need for us to be like warring factions trying to prove why a certain genre or band is better than the other.
@@CountBlagorath This video randomly came up as I was watching RUclips. I agree with the your opinion on Glen's later period vocal patterns, actually. But Scars being the first death metal album you ever heard, while maybe a stretch to say that isn't ' says it all" about you, is still a way funny place to (happen to) start, whether circumstantial or not & sounds like it forever tainted your opinion on the band. Anyway, I made my comment before reading any others.... I had no idea how much roasting was going on in here & for how many years. You've certainly had enough.
@c-live-vids7616 Cheers man. I've actually checked out the first 4 Deicide records and man.. it didn't do much. I see the appeal to an extent but it's just not for me.
I get the point. I do. However, if someone has the ability to treat each instrument in its own way -- you're a band. There are millions of "Bands" that are just one guy telling everyone what to do and I've found that some one-man projects are able to pay more attention to each instrument and create a fuller experience in ways that bands led by dictators can't replicate.
This dude has to understand that not only the Black metal and Death metal and a little of Thrash metal is metal. There are a thousand of subgenres meeeen. You seem to live in the 80's. BTW Celtic frost was a fucking great band.
Hey, I'm totally with ya on the diverse genre thing, there's a shit load of great metal that's, Speed, Power, Heavy, Glam, Stadium, Old School, Doom, Thrash, Black, Death, Etc, Etc. But I was born in 72 so I lived through the 80s, the era which I feel forged the foundation of all the great metal music from the last 30 years. I don't think this guy is living in, or ever lived in the 80s. Megadeath, Deicide and Venom would definitely rank in my top 30, maybe even 20 best bands of all time. The other three he mentioned I've never heard of and probably are shit from the sounds of it. To me he's just a winy millennial child who lacks the experience or foresight to respect Metal in its entirety. PS, Celtic Frost Fuckin Rule!!!
Yes, well i was born in 1990 but i listen and understand the differences of all subgenres of metal (and i like that), plus Groove Metal, Alt Metal, Slamming Death and all the core thing, from Grindcore, Beatdown hardcore, to Deathcore and Metalcore. I mean there are no gold era of metal, now out there are millions of good bands. But a lot of people is stuck in eras.
This was fucking hilarious! I agree with all but Venom. But your hatred of them was some solid entertainment! And I don't think I would ever do one of these. I feel like you would be forced to start a campaign to get my channel shut down since your favorite band would be on it. Haha!
PigsAreBrutal & CountBlagorath Nope, you're totally correct. I bought it cuz it was an early pressing and it was super cheap. But I can count the times I've listened to it since on one hand. More like half of one hand.
And on a more positive note: Six metal bands I absolutely love. 1. Blut Aus Nord 2. Summoning 3. Iron Maiden 4. Old Man's Child 5. Malevolent Creation 6. Emperor Six non-metal bands I love. 1. Protomartyr 2. The National 3. Preoccupations 4. Radiohead 5. Crystal Stilts 6. Joy Division

Peace out.
Exactly
That Burzum shirt goes well with your pinky ring.

@@TheDretch It just isn't my style of guitar work, that's all, and I feel the same about Metallica's solos in their 80s material. Eric Wright I just checked em out too. He says Megadeth doesn't have any good riffs, Burzum doesn't have ANY riffs! Most amateurish, boring, redundant, painful crap I've ever heard.
Burzum is one guy, Varg Vikernes.. Only recently got out of prison after his 14 year murder sentence. ThuleanPerspective on youtube.
it's probably because of the fact that you're a fucking idiot, thats the main problem
Varg ahh he was the guy who was with mayhem right? Before half of met a bloody end and the dead vocalist ended up as a bootleg album cover
I like when you clown Dave mustain voice on "hello me" it just sounds like your normal voice
The first three Deicide albums are total bangers, but I don't know any of their stuff after that.

'A poor man's Motorhead!' 😂😂😂
