Thanks Vastya, I'm actually working on a plan currently to make that happen on TikTok and on a couple more platforms!! You'll see me up there soon!! :)
Great video, I have been on my mini braids challenge for 6mo now , and my hair has grown like crazy, I like to keep things simple and easy do to my busy lifestyle!
Thank you!! Same here! When life gets busy, mini braids are my go to!! That's awesome that you've been on your mini braids challenge for 6 months! How's the experience so far?
I washed my medium size twists yesterday! Not gonna lie, the base was very fuzzy and I had to retwist a couple. If there is too much fuzzyness at the roots in the next wash in 2 weeks, I might turn these twists into braids...
Hi again ! I also see my washing routine as self-care 😊 I have a question though : do you not experience build-up ? Because from what I understand, you only shampoo your scalp and not the lenght of the braids themselves. So then, wouldn't all of the oils and butter that's been applied during these past 2 weeks still be on the braids ? I don't think that water only can remove them. In that case, it's not a clean slate for the hair so that you can remoisturize fully. Unless I missunderstood the routine... ?
Hey lilijean, that's a really great question! My experience with buildup is a very complex one. But I'll try to make this as short as possible. The oil that is on my strands has not given me any issues with build up from what I've observed as of yet. It's acted as a protective barrier for the strands of my hair and I believe that's why my strands have grown stronger over the years due to this. I agree that water alone can't strip the oils off completely, but that is not my goal when I'm washing my hair considering that my hair dries out easily when I do the opposite. I've found that making sure that I cleanse my scalp and that the pores aren't clogged on my scalp is the most important, and shikakai does that without stripping my hair completely of my natural oils/sebum. The shikakai also goes throughout the strands when I'm washing my hair along with the water, so it does take the oils off to a degree, but not entirely, which is how my hair likes it. So in turn, my scalp and roots stay cleansed moisturized and nourished, my strands stay protected, and my ends stay intensely guarded by the butter. It's also because of this that I find that I rarely have to trim as well. I hope this helps! :)
For this challenge I didn't rebraid all my mini braids like I usually do every 2 months strictly for this challenge, just the front perimeter and the ones that were the frizziest at the moment. If it was a 4 or 6 month challenge, you would've been able to see me rebraid every 2 months. I was doing a challenge that was the easiest to follow with the quickest possible results.
Hey dijasnaturals ! It definitely can, my hair tends to be finer at the front perimeter of my head as well, I also used to have bangs in that area, and mini braids had grown them out waay past the length I expected it to grow out. It's almost caught up to the longer parts of my hair!

You don’t remove and redo the braids during the 6 months?

Same here I am about to rebraid it looks really bad.
Some people braid the root of the twist first to avoid the fuzziness
My natural hair is too short . Is it possible to add extension for the mini braid challenge ?
I am 5 months into it. Will be re doing it again this weekend

What do we do to reduce frizzy braids?
Awesome!! I'm so glad you did! I use a satin bonnet overnight and my frizz usually tends to reduce.

I'm on week 1 with mini braids,but I have religiously we're them since 2022.
How do you make the shampoo
Just subscribed 💕
Thanks for subbing!❤
I’m on second day install
Awesome! You're almost done with the hardest part!
So you go 3 full months without rebraiding ?
For this challenge I didn't rebraid all my mini braids like I usually do every 2 months strictly for this challenge, just the front perimeter and the ones that were the frizziest at the moment. I'm trying to grow out my fine 4c hair most especially at the front, it's way shorter and thinner 😢
Do u think mini braids will help?

I’m sorry what is the butter you are saying? I am unsure of the spelling
Hey, it's a mixture of butters that I use which is Illipe' and Mango butter. I named the mixture Malipe' butter
