@@tialynn1111 mine break if I paint them too. I think the polish hardens them making them more easily breakable. When mine are more bendy they break less easily
When I started doing braids only with my natural hair and not manipulating it is when I saw true growth. There’s no going back. I might straighten it once every few months or do a slick back once in a while but braids are my go to.
I’m doing this with twist. I use a leave in conditioner and seal with Murray’s beeswax for locs and twist. On my scalp I spray minoxidil everyday. And I shampoo once a month with clarifying shampoo and then use a deep conditioner. Im enjoying my hair this way. No need to do fake hair
@@tialynn1111 surprisingly not with my hair type. Wax (which I apply once a month) serves as an initial sealant and styling product. Then I do what you do when it comes to refreshing the style throughout the weeks. I’m shoulder blade length right now.

Literally when I just left my hair in twist or plaits for several days, my hair grew the most. When you're not constantly manipulating your hair, it will grow. My method is I shampoo my hair, detangle, smooth and twist my hair using water and hair grease. I keep my hair covered with a pretty scarf at home and out in public. I don’t remove the twist until the next wash day, which is usually after a couple of weeks. This routine helps me retain my length and keep my hair healthy. Easy and stress free.
I think it's also about keeping your style simple, keeping it stretched, being gentle, and low manipulation. My 4c hair is a little past my bra strap when straightened (I'm 5'10") and I wash, deep condition, tension low blow dry, and twist my hair every 1-2 weeks, and wear it in a twist out all week and it grows just fine. And i have it straightened and trimmed once a year. It could probably grow to waist length if I did less, but I enjoy wearing my hair out, so a little past bra strap is fine with me!
I work from home and sometimes leave the house on the weekends. When I’m home not doing anything but working. My hair is in straight back braids that I put in on Sunday. So that way I’m doing this exactly, nothing at all. Just tie it up at night. And do nothing at all to it all week long. ❤ it works.
This is incredible!!! Thank you for talking about how to keep the ends from matting. That is my biggest issue. I’m going back to simple oil and will try your techniques. Thanks for sharing!

The key to growing long hair It's really about preserving the hair on top of your head by keeping it moisturized! (I use the word preserving because hair is really dead) I'm still trying to find a wash routine that works best for me! I get mixed up though with some ladies washing hair every week and some saying don't wash for up to a month???I do believe low manipulation is the key along with keeping the hair moisturized to prevent that excessive shedding that our hair is prone to since its naturally dry! I have 4 C hair and I'm seeing results in as little as 3 months doing all these things, not to mention I took a break from wearing braids, which for me kinda had me ignoring or not prioritize the hair underneath specially when life gets in the way! Also, taking Vitamin like zinc and iron to help with the shedding! My hair is neck length and looking and feeling healthier than ever, the shedding is much less and therefore I'm on the right path to growing my hair nice and long!!! I'm so happy to see so many black women growing their hair long and really taking pride in it! I'm teaching my 6-year-old daughter to love herself, her black skin and hair and how to better care for it all!
I get my hair done 4 times a yr , I keep cornrows yr round in 3 month intervals , my hair is almost waist length . I’m honestly excited to see how long it can get !
Your hair is gorgeous and I love your routine. I agree, keeping those ends lubricated is key. I make me a really big promise to put on the ends of my hair . I know everyone is different, I wear my hair out every day, my hair is waist length and I’m a big gworl-standing at 6ft.

I knew a girl whose hair was down to her waist and all she did was keep them in twists and just shampooed it (which was not often) in the same twist. Like literally no conditioner no moisturizer and no oils. I'm still baffled.
Thanks My Dear, I heard and read a few good things about Alaffia.. Also from an Afro German Girl on YT, her name's Joanna's Essentials, maybe you wanna check her out. But you don't need to, imo you have the best routines since it's not time consuming an super natural, I love it! ❤
I texlaxed my hear (again) and my hair was totally fine, I've been Texlaxing my hair in teen years to, had no problems at all. Then I went for keratin once last summer and now they're breaking off like crazy! 😢 So I decided to go natural again cause I want my hair strong, and no big chop... Just gonna let them grow out since they are texlaxed and still a little curly.. Besides the Relaxer I only use super natural products.... Anyways I'm thankful for your channel ❤
A girl I knew asked how I grew my hair so long. It was relaxed and a bit past shoulder length. I told her I leave it alone and she looked at me like I had two heads because she loved to experiment with her hair. It was always cute but it wasn't the healthiest I knew it could be and I could see a lot of split ends from excessive straightening I guess. I've since stopped relaxing and became a straight natural and leave it in pin curls or wrapped around itself in a bun unless I'm leaving the house. I was almost at waist length and then I got sick and started slacking on my hair care and it's mid back again now after cutting the fried ends. Plan on going longer between straightening and the inversion method in the next few months since summer is when I get the most growth to see how much new growth I can retain by September when it cools down here Edit: I also want to state that if you have thick and/or shoulder length or longer hair, probably shorter, it’s important to detangle your hair frequently to prevent matting. If I don’t leave the house for three weeks, I’ll take my hair down, comb or finger detangle then put it back up once a week. I do it to prevents “dents” when I wrapped and now creases from the alligator clips (my hairs too thick for pin curls clips and it would take too many for small sections 😂) or stress from the scrunching if I I’m doing space buns for curls. I’ve seen it happen multiple times. It grew, but wasn’t being combed so it matted and I helped with the detangle process so I know that they were straight up mats, almost to the point of locing not minor tangles
Oh wow yes!! I’m sorry you were sick and hope you are getting better💕 Yes leaving it alone is the best thing to grow hair and you’ll wake up one day and it’s down your back ✨🙏🏽☺️

@@Divi333. you can sleep with it free for sure. I know sometimes I like to keep it in a semi loose bun some days and that allows me to not touch my hair at all. This has helped me retain length too. Either or is ok if the bun is loosely put up
I wish i could do this...the single twists. My head itches too badly. I'd have to redo those twists every week. I keep my hair in two flat twists. Easy to take out and redo.
I absolutely love this, but my hair is too short to braid. It’s a little curly fro. What are good protective styles to get it to grow so I can start braiding it.
I have dry hair and I struggle finding a good leave-in conditioner so I've decided to make a leave in butter with Shea butter but it's either expensive and the container is small or Its out of stock.I just hope water and a moisturizing oil like avocado oil, olive or castor oil can help keep my hair moisturized. For now I got castor oil.❤

@@tialynn1111 thanks for the advice. I have some problems with my scalp cause of scabs but it mostly healing now and the everyday spritz combined with a little protein treatment when I wash makes it quite a lot better. That advice really helped. Learned that my scalp doesn't really like being oiled too much so I try to do it and before I wash or cowash to make sure I retain it. ✨
I have always wanted to try and limit my hair routine to water and oil but have been hesitant due to frizzing. However, as another person mentioned, water and hair grease was the hair regimen I grew up on and my hair was always long and healthy. Btw… your outfits are too cute🫶🏾
Yes! Braids for the win! 👏 Lovelt hair! I just recently washed my hair in braids for the first time and I’m hooked. But I redo them after they are somewhat dry. My ends were a bit of a chore to unravel, so I’ll have to give them a bit more attention before and after as soon I finish washing them. Thanks for sharing! Btw, are you shooting for a specific length goal? Just curious! 😊🌺
Yes really oil your ends before washday and make sure they are twisted at the end and you’ll be fine Sometimes I’ll redo my braids, like you after they’ve dried some, but I’m seeing either /or method works!💕
I currently have boho box braids in for a wedding I attended. Its only been a week but I already miss having my own natural twists, no other protective style does it for me tbh. My hair never grew past midback doing the most and now I have waist length with thick full ends just washing weekly, doing masks and trims only as needed, using aloe based gel and leaving it alone. I wanna see if I can get to butt length before straightening it 😂
My hair is also at waist length but I want longer and denser hair throughout. I do regular and mini braid too and they always end up at mid upper back. It’s crazy how much hair can shrink even in braids
Ok I had to cut them all off since this video because I was moving and 2 broke 😫but I do have few videos that show my routine. Key is to: -Not use them as tools -After wash hands, apply lotion or oils to your hands/nails -Don’t frequently polish and remove polish from nails (it weakens the nail) -Keep a weekly routine of filing the edges and ends
Yes I did - I do this daily or at least every other day I wipe the excess so it’s not dripping. This will keep your hair supple and prevent breakage. When you mark your calendar, you’ll see you will retain at least 5-6inches this year if you do this ✨
Informative video, tfs! Do you have, or would you be willing to do a video on what you do immediately before and during your wash day? I'm curious if you unbraid your hair to remove shed hair before you wash it.
Beautiful hair, skin, everything and you offer realistic advice. You are the picture of health. I love the idea of leaving it alone, suits my lazy attitude, I have other things to do lol.
I have to blow dry my hair. I have PTSD concerning the musty smell of 2nd day wet hair. As a young girl, I would wash my hair and throw it in a ponytail and it would be stank. Back then I couldn't figure out why. But now, I do wash my hair braided up, but it's a must for me to blow dry to at least 75% dry. I am at lumbar length since shaving in 2019.
Not anymore because I redo my braids weekly. I used to have bad tangles at roots when I left my braids in for 1 month. When I did experience tangles at roots I made sure to: Dampen roots w water or aloe juice first, then oil the roots heavily and take the tangles out single hair strand by strand 💕

Do wash and go's and just leave my hair alone! My hair has grown max 13 inches and now I have big chopped again because I needed a change in every respect. I am down to 2-3 inches! Now I KNOW my hair!

When I started doing braids only with my natural hair and not manipulating it is when I saw true growth. There’s no going back. I might straighten it once every few months or do a slick back once in a while but braids are my go to.
Yes it’s so good for the hair to give it a rest💕
I’m doing this with twist. I use a leave in conditioner and seal with Murray’s beeswax for locs and twist. On my scalp I spray minoxidil everyday. And I shampoo once a month with clarifying shampoo and then use a deep conditioner.
Im enjoying my hair this way. No need to do fake hair
Thanks for the input-
Does the wax create build up?💕
@@tialynn1111 surprisingly not with my hair type.

My hair is about mid back, just above my bra and I don’t wash my hair often. Being scarred from a kid when it was wash day and till this day, my wash day is once every 3 months. I don’t do much to it put occasionally put some kind of oils in it. No hard gel, no hair spray. I do brush my ends every couple of days for about 5 minutes each side(parted in two). I like it because it is simple and affordable

Plan on going longer between straightening and the inversion method in the next few months since summer is when I get the most growth to see how much new growth I can retain by September when it cools down here
Edit: I also want to state that if you have thick and/or shoulder length or longer hair, probably shorter, it’s important to detangle your hair frequently to prevent matting.
I’m sorry you were sick and hope you are getting better💕

I don’t understand why sleep with it in a bun when that keeps the hair wound tight, when you could just sleep with it free in a bonnet?
@@Divi333. you can sleep with it free for sure. I know sometimes I like to keep it in a semi loose bun some days and that allows me to not touch my hair at all. This has helped me retain length too.
Either or is ok if the bun is loosely put up
