One of my favorites!! Who's with me in 2019? Still here in 2021 and 2022...I guess I'm gonna be here forever
Billy DeLuca ...Daryl Hall sounds fab !
@@barbarafearn yes he does!!
Me November 2019
Back again December 2019 ❣️
Amazing
The man is a guitar genius.
One of his greatest latter day songs in my opinion. I'm always amazed at how overlooked this gets. Even by Clapton's own people! You'll see songs from this time period like "Pretending", "She's Waiting", "Bad Love", and "It's In the Way That You Use It" make their way onto Greatest Hits/Anthology compilations but rarely "No Alibis". never understood that. The guitar riffing alone makes it worthy of entry!
Erik Westervelt All clearly true. A great song. A great era.
@102332179042758893078 This is the song that I'd have wanted to see in his later day live performances. As well as Bad Love. They both have that amazingly sweet 90s rock sound.
Erik Westervelt I like it even the 24 nights version is really good
+Erik Westervelt agree 100% excellent guitar work in this song by the guitar god. I've never understood why this one is underrated.
Agreed...the song 'Anything for your Love', another great tune from Journeyman, all but forgotten.
Goosebumps and watery eyes. Its hard to pick a favorite until you hear the soul in his voice behind that guitar. Love it!
The great Eric Clapton
Eliazar Ramirez always...
Eliazar Ramirez definately!!!
Great track by slowhand
Darryl Hall and EC Nice combo. It hits you hard !
dockjoey And let's not forget Chaka Khan over the top!
really?

MY TOP 5 GUITARIST OF ALL TIME, JIMMY PAGE, ERIC CLAPTON, DAVID GILMORE, PETE TOWNSEND, JIMMY HENDRIX!!!!! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👍😀
No one can reach in and grab my soul like clapton
Great ! This one ' s magic man
Smooth
Eric Clapton gives me the light namely enlightenment, but it is the light bag, I am delightful. I am still not very clear out of my mind after see the light (C or Z).
years ago when i was just a kid they said Clapton is God well i believed it then and now all these years later i don't only believe it i know it
I hardly ever hear this song and I think that's a good thing...don't get me wrong, its a great song but if I heard it every other day I would get tired of real fast, this way I can't get tired of it. Wish they would do that with a bunch of other songs that get overplayed.
Dont' give me no...AAAPPLE PIE-EE!
Something about being equal , what will always even out in the wash , if given half a chance , really , it's not halftime , its not even the first two seconds of round one , but as luck would have it , the sun can shine on the backside of well , so get busy ! Here's some food for thought , even this dog never could of made it , without special attension , from of all things , a woman most successfull longshots respectfully call a lady , girl is the beginning , lets hope it's not the beginning of the end , I'll let you know when it's halftime , Superman !
Daryl Hall singing backup? What is the world coming to?
Eric needed him. Daryl"s career was great, at that time. Eric's wasn't! Clapton is great, I agree, he uses too many people. Never gives them any credit!
discogs www.discogs.com/Eric-Clapton-Journeyman/release/5324434 shows vocal credits of - Track 7 No Alibis
Vocals - Chaka Khan, Daryl Hall

so there's the credit for you
Have we got a windup merchant here - do you comment just to annoy people?
Yup. Hall and Oates might be underrated these days. They had some great songs back in the day.
awesomeness
I Beg Your Pardon................
One of my all time favorite Clapton songs. And Daryl Hall’s vocals were perfect for this. Makes me wonder what an entire “Hall & Clapton” album would’ve sounded like.
And Chaka Kahn on backgrounds
And Phil on drums 🥁
Daryl needs to do a daryls house episode with clapton. 2 hours minimum
Aaron Neville too!
Didn't know that. Wow! No wonder it sounds so good!
This song proves one thing- Eric Clapton is one of the best ever.
Absolutely
Yes he is !!!!!!!!!!
Eric Clapton was declared a god.
eric clapton is the shit
Grande Mano Lenta
Listen to the way he rings the notes! Thats a God given talent. Gets every last breath out of them. May not be the flashiest, or the heaviest, but has all the soul.
And also stops them short at just the exact right time. Amazing, still trying to find the isolated guitar for this song.
@@stefymarty Nice observation.
That's called "Musicianship". He's earned his Doctorate.
It wasn't until today that i really took notice of how the song starts.
He is average at best.
I loved this Clapton 80’s era some of his best writing singing & playing . Big drums , great solo’s & stellar band . Great memories . Behind the Sun. August. Journeyman. All good .
The definition, of a criminally underrated song.🕵
That's an understatement. Might be Clapton's best solo song!
Great song but I looked up criminally underrated in Websters and didn’t see this one mentioned? Perhaps I am looking at a different edition?
All of Clapton's 80's music is underrated.
Never underrated... one of Eric's greatest songs . But there're so many !!!!
One of my all time favs. I crank it up on 4 speakers, in my old barn. The window panes rattle and the coyotes howl. Long live Clapton!
What an atmosphere u have created over the the half of century ❤
Sounds like my barn😊
Goodfellas, some beer and a good cigar
Look at the album cover. Can you imagine what those eyes have seen? Solum. Regret. Angst. Yet he lives to fight another day. If a man could ever be broken, it was he. But a Phoenix rises from the ashes. Love that guy. One of a kind. The talent is undeniable, but the man underneath is what makes Eric.......Eric.
@Chris, your comment made my day. Well put together. Bravo !
and the most heartbreaking part is that they still had to see the worst that can ever happen in a parent life
And he’s a nice man, too
2024 rolling with Eric still ❤
My dad always used to listen to this and I never knew the name and I heard it on the radio at work yesterday. I just spent 2 hours searching for this song.
So glad you were able to find it, I'm sure it brings back alot of memories 🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵
Well ,you found it!!....... Welcome aboard mate😊
He was running on all 8 cylinders on this track for sure!!! One of his best efforts if not the best!!
Hate to break it to you but the only song Eric wrote on this album was Old Love which he co-wrote with Robert Cray.
So what if he didn't write it? It's his now. Cash didn't write Hurt or Sunday Morning.. Blackmore didnt write Since you been oh why bother you get it or don't. I do
Oh and I loved this girl too many times

@@thomassblaquelourde5930 Not sure what the comment you posted was all about? I was simply stating that I liked the song and how he sings and plays it ! So calm down man .
This is such an essential Clapton song for me. It just rolls like a smooth whiskey or the big muddy. :)
Eric Clapton is one of the very best artists ever , He was with The Cream , The Yardbirds , Derek and The Dominoes and Blind Faith , It's unreal how many songs he has done in his career , Amazing
❤❤❤❤I named son Eric after him

Fantastic, Clapton at his best.
The guitar work is phenomenal... This is Clapton at his best!
His best album ever
Saw this tour back in 90..No opener just 2.5 hours of Slow Hand doin his thing and bendin those strings til they were about to break..l didn't say a word l just sat there mesmerised by a true guitar legend and my hero Mr. Eric Clapton..
one of the greatest clapton songs no one talks about. just listen to the words on top of the awesome guitar riffs. great song
One of my favorite Clapton tunes. Pure talent!
I have to admit this is my favorite Clapton album every song to me is a gem!
I've got every album he ever performed on, including other artists with him as a guest, and this is by far the greatest album he ever made. Instead of Journeyman it should have been called The Master.
My Dad and I rarely agreed about music when I was younger but we both loved listening to this CD on family trips.
Justin Smit Great memory. Thanks for sharing.
I find myself listening to those songs my dad played on road trips (that drove me nuts) more and more these days. Music is such an amazing thing.

One of the most underrated tunes from Clapton. Guitar work and lyrics is incredible! Clapton is a fucking musical genius!
Michael Flynn That's right! Make me want to party all night long!
my thought exactly
Absolutely underated ! Awesome song !
Agree with every word! One of my 3 Clapton favorites.
So so good - and one of the best driving songs ever.
My favorite Clapton tune, right there with Layla. Fire up that Stratocaster and let it Rip.
This ,father's eyes, pretending and it's in the way that you use is make up some of my favs.
Love Love Eric
The PURE HEART AND SOUL OF THIS MASTERPIECE. EXPOLDES THROUGH HIS GUITAR 🎸!! TO ME HIS SIGNURE MASTERPIECE OF ALL TIME, AND POSSIBLY THE MOST UNDERRATED SONGS OF HIS CAREER ❤!!!!( PERIOD)!!!!
I used to hear all the hype about Eric Clapton and I never fully got it. Then I heard this song. I get it now. Amazing song.
This is one of the few times HE turns it loose. Like "Layla" & "Crossroads" from the Cream days.
Listen to anything from between 1964 and 1970 (the "pre-solo" years) - Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos. Blows most of his later solo work out of the water.
Jimmy Calhoun it's all a matter of opinion.
Clapton is not a musician. He is an artist.....
Amazing man
Journeyman and August are, IMO, the best Clapton has ever done. For context, I started playing drums when Cream was new. I've heard it all, but this is the finest. Searing melodies, meaningful lyrics from a lifetime of experiences.
Well put. Both albums are so cleanly cut and refined
Also SLOWHAND !
so fucking boss
Fine vocals, supreme instrumentation. Clean and precise. Definitely God given.
Justin Shields I agree totally... Very well said.
I can't decide if Eric is a better singer or guitar picker, certainly underrated as a vocalist!
It’s called practice.
No. It’s called years and years of honing, practicing, and hard work at his craft. What God gave him was the ability, Clapton had to work at it.
Great vocals
Great guitar work, mature in lyrics rhythm, so sincere from life experiences
It's as if he wrote this song for Daryl as well as for himself. Daryl's backup is perfect!
Daryl co wrote Alibis.
Darryl Hall on backup vocals makes it even better.
Sure does . Pro Guitar and Pro Singer....
+DaDaDaDan Oates was at the recording studio too. Tickling Eric and Darryl's balls, making tea and cookies for the crew
I always wonder if it was Darryl , Cool that it is
+Rickberg1966 very cool indeed.
DaDaDaDan absolutely..love when everyone is recognized..best song too focus on
So true Erik my blues brother. ..I was so fortunate to see him during this album tour...along with his previous body of work...A'freakin' mazzing show.....in my Top2...hehe...old dudes rule...long live Slowhand...🎸🎶🎼🎵🎤🎹🎷🎺🎸
Always loved this song. Something about the lead guitar fills in the chorus is magical perfection. I really need to sit down and learn to play it. I was sad to see a video of a live performance and he left all the fills out. I dont know why, they really make the song.
People who listen to music, and down drugs ,"especially opiates, " are either hipocrytes or badly informed.
Being a professional musician, for the past 26 years. I can promise you that all the best music is written, while the writer ,"especially the music," is under the influence of some type of mind altering drug . I've found that synthetic or semi synthetic opiates have been responsible for for o er 80% of what most would call great music. It also plays a part lyrically , but I think they ,"drugs," just make the writer more prone to writing great lyrics . The saying in the business is, " Write high ,and edit sober," and that's the most truth you will ever hear concer6the muse part of music.
Guess we need to get these new generation rappers some better shit
This song reminds me of when my husband was alive, we were in our twenties, no kids and had a ski boat. In The 80’s, on the Lake! With all of our close friends!!! I hear this last night on a radio station, driving home, singing to the top of my lungs , volume up! Damn I miss that life! I love you Eric Clapton!!! About to share this with my son!
There's some truth in that in interviews, Police said Sting if wasn't for pot,the good tunes wouldn't be there.
Still here in 2022! Thank you Mr. Clapton 👏👏👏👏👏👏
O3.2O23
IMO this is the absolute best of Clapton. Heartfelt blues and mighty fine guitar work.
Dont gimme NO ALIBI's..
Just another reason for another lie..
aint that the truth.
Go away troll
This is one of my favorite two songs by Eric -- the other being "Lonely Stranger." Few artists are in his guitar-playing league!
Love the guitar work...soulful!!!...and Darrell Hall's backing vocals raise this song to a new level
this is one of the greatest songs and listen to the music the way he plays a guitar
Duane Allman said E.C was so together and a great guitarist , great person, very well put together.. E.C pretty much said the same about Duane..
I beg your pardon, hello darlin'

thanks for lyrics
another great guitarist. gotta lov his style
Daryl's backing was what made it. Why does Clapton hang on to people?? He can be sad.
Connie Vino what is wrong with being sad?

If you look back from the 60's, he's got a bunch of good songs for every decade till this day. Isn't it wonderful
I thought about this fact like 10 years ago. He has had an incredible career. 5 freaking decades.
Love No Alibis. I was working at a radio station when this came out, we played the hell out of it! Clapton just gets better and better! Thank you sir!
It wasn’t WZZO was it. They played this song twice and hour when I was in college, early 90’s
Eric Clapton Has And Always Be The Best!!!
I’ve probably listened to this a million times today. I plan to do it tomorrow too. 😂😂 I love this song!!
None of the comments talk about how real these lyrics are when someone's hurt you. This one really bangs
One of the best songs by Clapton. All of his music is good. Just something about this song that gets me going. When I'm listening to it so is everybody around me from cranked all the way up.
That guitar tone is taking me into 2021
This and Layla (original & unplugged) and maybe Running On Faith are my favorites. The lead riffs are soulful to say the least. He has always said that he sings backup to his guitar; not sure which is lead in this song! Great music!
There are not too many out there that can duplicate that "trill" at about 4:52!! Dream on govan, not on your best day, nor the best of many others for that matter. And that is just one lick from the slow hand.
yea this is one of my favorite songs by eric
Stevie Ray Vaughan was fearce with the electric guitar as well.
songs like this is what classic rock great...u rarely hear it on the radio...but the u find it on RUclips or whatever and remember hearing it once before but not able to remember the name...and it turns into one of ur favs
Dont give me no alibis, just another reason, for another lie.
Well, it turns out Eric was a journeyman. :-) like I said, well
Eric Clapton is a timeless artist!! Poetry in motion is 🎶!!!!!!
+Shanda Bauguess That's why he's called Slow Hand. His touch is so deft and smooth he slows down time.
+Steven Carinci FYI two attributed reasons why he's called Slowhand
1 the speed of the playing
2 when he broke guitar strings during live performances the audience used to do a slow hand clap whilst he fitted the new string on stage
+Claire Williamson Speed meaning fast or slow?
+Steven Carinci sorry Steven I meant #fast# - I think the term is used ironically :-)
+Shanda Bauguess I think that is why they call him slowhand. He seems to slow down time.
Bought this album when i got out of prison i think it ws 1989
Hope it changed your life.

One of his best opportunities to solo and draw on the magic within, his tone on this is just fantastic..! Sometimes you just need the right song to reach deep down and bring out what's really inside..!
Thank you for everything, Mr. Clapton! You are truly God on the Guitar 🎸!
This is an absolutely great song that alot of people can relate to at some point in their life. This song really lifts me up and when i need a slight attitude adjustment, this is one of the songs. Oh my God, Darryl Hall, just a great voice and a great compliment the two give each other. wish there were more songs with the two of them. Maybe Eric should go to "Darryls House"
Darryl on this tune?????Never knew......def Darryls house, my favorite!
Eric tears it up on this guitar solo! One of my favorites from him!
still here in 2020 ❤️
My fave Clapton tone ever.
LOVE this song but the beginning kinda sounds like the Weather Channel intro music
A groove so deep that it could swallow Everest. Some of Mr. Clapton's most powerfully beautiful playing. That, boys and girls, is how it's done. And the "calling you out" lyric content? Withering.
So totally agree. Being a lifetime fan totally loved the fury ,clarity and speed of his Cream days but this work is on a totally higher even inspired level of beauty.
@@lifetimes2983 Yep, the evolution of genius is a beautiful thing to hear. With that tone, how many Strats did this guy help Fender sell?

LOVE Daryl Hall on this!
The best riffs and his best vocals with Darryl’s harmonizing!
Finally found this song as it came on Classic Rewind as I could never figure out the song name when I first heard it years ago. Now that its 2023, its still an awesome song!
Clapton is what music is about. One of the greatest in my opinion.
most definitely my favorite eric clapton song.
Slowhand at his best as usual
Thank you for the great music EC, October 2019 😘
I love this song it's so true..
It blows my mind but there are 281 thumbs down probably from non guitar playing and generally most likely not very nice people
He was so good. What a moment....

+Neet Violi Yea... Time waits for noone. We know he is alive))) Long live the king! 1989, my youth))))
Eric Clapton- One of Rocks all time greateat. He was great in concert
Hole you dig gets deeper,
Better stop............Climb out !
yes he is the best guitarist ever and a great artist
Such a great underrated talent! One of absolute favourites of days gone by....
No better phrase fits this man. Eric Clapton is A ROCK GOD!! Has always been in my book!!
Thank you for everything sir!
Amazing song!!
possibly the greatest musician alive. Clapton, BB King, David Gilmour , Prince , Roger Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughn Own the electric Guitar
John Wiss Rory Gallagher...Jimi called him the best..so did Eric. Go find him
RIP Prince and BB King. Clapton is definitely keeping the magic alive.
The late great Terry Kath, of early Chicago fame... when they ROCKED..
netrioter - Jimi said that about Billy Gibbons as well. Jimi was about as humble a human being as there ever was.....Duane Allman was the man.
John Wiss waters is a bassist
I remember being a young teenager when this song came on. My uncle used to be a big Eric Clapton fan and would play this song when we would work on his trash route. I blinked and now I am 47 years old.
Time goes by pretty fast. I miss the 80’s
My favorite song from Journeyman & one of my favorite Clapton songs period. Happy 70th birthday Slowhand!
