- Eric Clapton's (probably) best version of No Alibis (Chile, 1990). For me, EC was definitely on fire the whole concert; the bridge (2:15) and outro (4:38) solos are especially unbelievable, extremely melodic and emotional. The whole song was carried out in a way simply beyond awesome. At any rate, be entertained, I hope!
If informative, the lyrics are as follows (as readily available on the Internet):
"I beg your pardon, hello darlin'
This is me you're talkin' to
Sit down and tell me about it
And you don't have to shout it at me
Tell me what you really want to do
Don't give me no alibis
No untrue stories you're tryin' ta justify
Don't want no alibis
Just another reason for another lie
Mountain gets steeper, the hole you dig gets deeper
You better stop, climb out (yeah)
Tryin' to give it all to you (all to you, but baby)
Baby, I can see right through you
Sometimes you lose what it's all about
Don't give me no alibis
Can't go through life (through life) tryin' ta justify (justify)
Don't want no alibis
Just another reason for another lie
Don't give me no alibis
No untrue stories you're tryin' ta justify
Don't want no alibis
Just another reason for another lie (lie)
The mountain gets steeper, the hole you dig is gettin' deeper
You better reach and pull yourself out
No one's ever gonna love you the way that I love you
I never want to see you doin' without
Don't give me no alibis
No untrue stories you're tryin' ta justify
Don't want no alibis
Just another reason for another lie (alibis)
No untrue stories you're tryin' ta justify
Don't want no alibis
Just another reason (reason) for another lie".
Wouldn't it be great if his old concerts were digitally remastered like they did with INXS? I'd buy every single one...Eric is the master!
Your wish came true! Clapton is releasing a 4k remastered show from 1994 from the "Nothing But The Blues"
I thought the live version in Argentina was the best, but DAMN, this one is way better!
Love this version best but I'll listen to any and all
I saw Clapton on this tour, I remembering him opening with this it was a great show. He played a couple of songs from "Journeyman" one thing from the "August" album and then went back to "Slow Hand" and prior to 1975. Thanks for posting this.
Thank God for different versions.
... and probably the best band he had ever. Great period and great memories
you mean after cream and derek and the dominoes lol.But yeah the longest most consistent.I love this band too, nathan east especially hes a superior base player
umm cream?
Great show😊eric the love of my life❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
After The 24 Nights at The Albert Hall in 1990 He began his world tour Journeyman in CHILE and in an interview in our local Tv he said was intrigued and excited to know my Country, he just won the Grammy that year with Bad Love also and I think the fact that a star of his level when reach the end of the WORLD they are highly motivated something that I saw with B.B. King. Satriani etc. He was on Fire the whole Concert, His solos on the Strat were superlative, we get profoundly impacted, something of that caliber never seen in Chile at that time, I put inmediatly Gold Lace Sensors in my 50 anniversary , golden logo, Korean Squier, amazing guitar that I own to this day among my Fenders. As a HUGE Clapton fan folowing his career this is the best Concert that I find EVER Is there is another BETTER I wanna know but I doubted. Greetins from Concepcion, Biobio Region, Chile
Every other live version of No Alibis, always felt like the solo didn't fit with the song. This one it did.
we'll agree to disagree - this is epic but - huh ?
Absolutely, this one has the best solo for sure!
Probably the best to ever play the stratocaster. What are we going to do all the greats of the rocking 70's are leaving us and it doesn't seem like anyone today can play music like them.
That's a great version indeed! I just saw Eric, Nathan East and Katie Kissoon in Amsterdam a few weeks back. Still playing together after all these years!
Saw Eric Clapton many times in Philadelphia, Eric was GREAT!!!
Clapton, the best ever!
Wow!!! Love this version!!! Forever the best!!
Every time Eric let's his hair grow out he gets a little more adventurous on the guitar
I have seen Eric in Concert, and he is the Man!
He definitely left it all on the stage!! Very good.
i told Charlie Daniels - " You love Eric Clapton ? Me too -!"
Charlie - "He , in my opinion is the best - or at least my favorite - by far " - We fist bumped and he said " Good to visit with ya "
The music was so good I cried 3 times!
Just amazing as always
The one and only, Eric Clapton
Epic clapton
He is always great !
Claptonik vhyba wiedział, że jest filmowany. Ta determinacja! Piękne
Thanks for pointing out this solo. I agree it's noteworthy but had not paid close attention before.
This show cases the human spirit so well the soul here speaks to my heart ❤
Hi there, thanks!
On fire!
thanks so much for posting this! Just saw him in the RAH in May. Can confirm he's still got it. All of it. :))
HELLO DALIN
Waiting for this one to be remastered!
BESTOF THE BEST..SLOWHAND!!
Awesome
Smooth as usual
I really like when does the call and response with his guitar. I feel like he half assed this performance.
Agreed.👍
Whenever I see Eric now, I think hey there's one of George Harrison 's best friends.
Short list that one is....
Awesome but I miss the lead guitar of the studio version!
🔥
Album version had Daryl hall singing backing vocals
It's good but the best performance they did of it was on Saturday Night Live in 1990
Ray Parker on drums 😊
I meant Ray Cooper my bad
Steve Ferrone on drums , Ray Cooper, Percusion
uff
How in the hell does anyone think Jimmy Page is a better guitar player than this cat - It aint as easy to sing while playing a guitar as dude makes it look
I think so
Nice but not his best ,his best way in a black suit about this period a year later perhaps
Wow. Truly incredible solos. Thank you for uploading
Hi there, thank you!
