Very impressive! Back in 1991, I rode in someone's truck, and he was a big Eric Clapton fan, and he played this song, it was in cassette back then. I never knew who sang it until recently. Eric looks real good here. I hope he wasn't nervous, being at that location. (Like who was watching him).
Just watched a video of Eric's performance on 26/5/24 which was yesterday and there is no doubt that this man still has it! Still a badass. Still a legend. Had to come watch this video before going to sleep because hey, it just spits fire! #claptonisgod
I had the privilege of seeing him at Sandstone Amphitheater outside of Kansas City. What an amazing concert, it was marred by the tragic passing of SRV and other members of Eric's management in that awful crash. Just two days before, and I was hoping to see him with Eric. Always loved Eric and wish him the best.
How can ANYONE not like the idea of having a good time. Saw him in the 80's in Indianapolis and Charlotte. Seen probably 60 concert 's in the seventies and been a fan since I heard Cream .He was incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah, in this one the entire band is into it, guess capturing the Tina Turner spirit, Clapton having written the song with recording it with her in mind ruclips.net/video/XUhdu8mXetI/видео.html
Listen to this one...then find the version from his 70th at the Royal Albert Hall in 2015. This man's playing hasn't really lost a step...its just AWESOME! He picks great people to back him as well.
Or else they pick him! I mean who would not want to play backup with Eric? I imagine some would be willing to pay to play with him on some gigs just for the notoriety alone!
Eric's guitar work is phenomenal on this piece. Anyone who thinks his best days were behind him is totally clueless. His guitar screams! This definitely shows that Eric can "bring it" any time he wants to. I started playing guitar in 1975, and Eric Clapton still amazes me. Such an incredible sound - a Fender twin combined with a Leslie cab.
YES! The backup guys, from the guitar player, the drummer, right on down to the keyboard player. Without them, it would be nothing. They also provide valuable backup vocals to Eric as well.
Clapton is, obviously, a master guitarist, particularly in the blues, blues-rock, and formative rock and roll style. But I can’t help but feel that at least 10% of his iconic quality- as it probably does with all people on that level- comes from the fact his whole life on camera looks like it’s worthy of a poster. He looks so fucking cool all the time.
Cannot agree 100%. The footage from the "24 nights" is incredibly cool (take as an example the Bad Love video), but there's plenty of gigs filmed before mid '80s, when he started getting sober, where you can clearly tell that he's totally wasted and barely standing (late '70 footage, especially), nevertheless still playing like a guitar god
@Ace Harris Clapton is a very sexy beautiful man, yes. But he did not always look this polished. He had a perm at the start of the Cream years which made him unrecognizable to what you see here. So make no mistake-the way he plays the hell out of the guitar and sings in his signature raspy powerful soulful voice is WHY he is epic.
80s/early 90s Clapton is severely overlooked. They say his career it a stasis mode in the 90s but Journeyman, and August especially are tremendous albums.
I've seen him three times, including the performance at Alpine Valley the night Stevie Ray Vaughn died. My fourth, and likely last concert will be in two days in Fort Worth. Can't wait! That night in Alpine Valley I got to witness Clapton, SRV and Robert Cray belt out some amazing music. The best part was watching these three guitar masters looking on in awe at the talent of the others on stage. Truly inspiring!!
So true Mike. Cheers brother. I got to see this live. But he stopped playing it on the subsequent tours I saw. A lot of people cover this. The song has gotten canned, the so called professional critics hated this whole record. I really like it. Fuck 30 years ago. I'm old I don't care. I jam this regularly
I growing to the waste...beat the german world champ at fooseball eventually cut my to shoulder. Then later shorter. I'm 67 & like my hair like Clint Eastwoods in all his movie.. won't stop growing, lol cut it every 2 wks..lol
Yep and let's also remember the legendary Nathan East on the basement what a career he's had playing with people like Clapton and others and he can walk down the street with no one knowing who he is
This song and the Journey Man album is fantastic. My comment is about the guitar. I was so fortunate be given by my parents a Fender Stratocaster American Standard with the same Lace Sensor pickups as the Eric Clapton model. I did sell it and regret that to this very day. God bless Eric Clapton!
I just finished serving in the corp.(83-91).. hurricane Andrew came to florida.this album and leppards adrenalize made the Caine a lil easier.. semper fi
Those guest players are not only amongst the absolute best session players in the entire world ever, yet they know Eric inside out and have played with him many times and they're good friends
@GhostShip my bro, you're correct. His contributions to Cream, the yardbirds, movie soundtracks are completely unwarranted. Eric Johnson is a phenom, but Clapton is incredible and marketable. Eric Johnson has a niche arena. Now go back to your room and practice before it gets late and mom tells you to turn your speaker down.
martin dunn 24 nights to be precise!! and yes I was at the royal Albert hall1990/1991. Eric. George Harrison.Phil Collins.ray cooper.Andy fair weather low chuck leavell.
My only "criticism" of this is, please leave more of the audience sounds on at the end... they were ready to EXPLODE, and that's part of the Live experience!!! Thanks for the video!!
To be able to solo like that must be one of the best feelings in the world
Very impressive!
Back in 1991, I rode in someone's truck, and he was a big Eric Clapton fan, and he played this song, it was in cassette back then.
I never knew who sang it until recently.
Eric looks real good here.
I hope he wasn't nervous, being at that location.
(Like who was watching him).
The fact is that this song is 30 fucking years old. Plus here we are listening to it now. I love it. Never say die
cussing is lame
I know someone working on a tribute version right now
i know he wasn't heathy here
@@donzxcv1no it fucking isn’t
What do you mean @@FutureAbe
Been listening, to him play, for over 50 years. Yeah...I'll keep listening and enjoying.
Um yes. Me too
И я тоже
he's great
Me too, in Poland!
Caught this tour in Philadelphia, beyond amazing! EC is by far the greatest ever!
Brilliant brilliant record.
I'm 87 years old, and this song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. -michaelB
Porque llora Usted..
How the h*ll do I know? I am not a psychiatrist
Late 80s to early 90s was Clapton at his most untouchable level when it came to his guitar playing. Hands down.
smooooth hand
Slow Hands Down.
Yes and his voice too, especially after From the cradle album.
Always the Best!!
one of my favorites
Thank you ♡ For great music.
Just watched a video of Eric's performance on 26/5/24 which was yesterday and there is no doubt that this man still has it! Still a badass. Still a legend. Had to come watch this video before going to sleep because hey, it just spits fire!

A great version of this great song
I had the privilege of seeing him at Sandstone Amphitheater outside of Kansas City. What an amazing concert, it was marred by the tragic passing of SRV and other members of Eric's management in that awful crash. Just two days before, and I was hoping to see him with Eric. Always loved Eric and wish him the best.
arguably two of the top 5 guitarists of all time. I was too young to see the mastery of Stevie live. But Im glad Eric is still touring
Give the drummer a raise..he’s earned it.
He got it, by joining Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
Looks like the drummer from AWB
his band's great and the drummer is the engine they earn it
His drummer from Derek and the Dominos took another route. He killed his mother with an axe
Eric always surrounds himself with the best musicians.
That's why his music sounds so great. ..
He does
it's a no brainer. He's a great gig for any musician for hire. Who's going to say no to playing with Clapton, Steve Vai perhaps? Not likely.
... And then he fires them for showing him up as basically kinda mediocre for a performer.
Well Cordon, I can see why you’re a grouch.
That’s just a lot of BS
Brilliant awesome
Performance by
ALL THE AFTISTS!!
WOW!!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
How can ANYONE not like the idea of having a good time. Saw him in the 80's in Indianapolis and Charlotte. Seen probably 60 concert 's in the seventies and been a fan since I heard Cream .He was incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Listening from South Africa 🇿🇦 Covid 19 Lockdown...this guy's music moves me still....💕💞
This version so clean, so bad ass
Great performance, love watching Nathan East work, he always seems to enjoy himself.
yeah, in this one the entire band is into it, guess capturing the Tina Turner spirit, Clapton having written the song with recording it with her in mind
ruclips.net/video/XUhdu8mXetI/видео.html
Damn right he was
It took me a long time to appreciate Clapton's brilliance
Eric is awesome, as usual, but the bass player is rockin' -- they all are!
I totally agree!
For me this is his best line up ever and the track is certainly one of his best
Greatest misheard lyric of my childhood- “Everybody knows Tone Loc can’t fail”
Saw him tonight. Clapton is King
So great a god of his time 😊
Clapton at his best in 89/90 in my opinion. I saw Eric at the RAH 23 years later. Loved to hv seen him on this tour.
Love the music of Eric Clapton 💙💙🎤🎸💙🌟💙🌟💙🌟💙🌟💙🌟💙🌟💙🌟⭐️💫
Phillinganes, East, and Ferrone backing Clapton. Definitely one of the best backing bands there was!
Unbelievable lineup
And Steve Farone went on to another great Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Mr. Eric Clapton, please. Guitar God,among the many.....love this guy.😎
Clapton is so freaking talented!
Listen to this one...then find the version from his 70th at the Royal Albert Hall in 2015. This man's playing hasn't really lost a step...its just AWESOME! He picks great people to back him as well.

This is his custon pete cornish rack with marshall amplifiers
Amazing performance they did here.
So unique and on key its crazy.
Seen Clapton live in the early 1990s Tacoma dome.
Will ever forget✔️.
Eric you are the MAN!!!
What makes 24 Night incredible is the supporting musicians, top notch. Clapton in top form doesn't hurt either.
YES! The backup guys, from the guitar player, the drummer, right on down to the keyboard player. Without them, it would be nothing. They also provide valuable backup vocals to Eric as well.
I love this version of the band too. They're out there kicking ass and having fun
That guitar playing is legendary!
Absolutely true!!
This is a killer song🤘
Clapton is, obviously, a master guitarist, particularly in the blues, blues-rock, and formative rock and roll style. But I can’t help but feel that at least 10% of his iconic quality- as it probably does with all people on that level- comes from the fact his whole life on camera looks like it’s worthy of a poster.
He looks so fucking cool all the time.
Good observation as I have had these thoughts through the years.
Cannot agree 100%. Absolutely! And that Fender Strat looks like it’s part of his body.
That's because, He is that Fucking Cool all the time....! 😉
So much fun to watch him play and flip you off as he does it!! Absolutely amazing
80s/early 90s Clapton is severely overlooked. They say his career it a stasis mode in the 90s but Journeyman, and August especially are tremendous albums.
August is a great record, but the guitar work isn't in the same league as Journeyman and From the Cradle imho
Love august
I still can't believe I was there
That groove at 4 is so dope, they put a little nasty on it and rode that groove out rest of the song.
The Best 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🎸👍🏽
This sound... guitar sound! I love it! I love it here, in Poland (so far, far away!)
I saw him on tour I think it was ‘92. I mean, he was literally perfect. I was 18 at the time have never forgotten his sheer mastery.
I'm seeing him September 24th in L.A and I'm 18 years old right now. Im so unbelievably excited!
Genio, Gran guitarrista🍀👀
KILLER SOUND! :)
I've seen him three times, including the performance at Alpine Valley the night Stevie Ray Vaughn died. My fourth, and likely last concert will be in two days in Fort Worth. Can't wait!

Oh, man, the experience you describe takes my breath away.
like fuck off no one give a fuck
Gorgeous guitarwork.
The drummer is superb
This song and album are part of the soundtrack of my life.
Maestro ❤
I finally figured out why this song means so much to me. We were both pretending its ok.
You can literally track the end of each decade by Claptons hair cuts. He was transitioning from Chuck Norris to 12th Century knights squire here.
Hahahaa nice shootin
14th century
So true Mike. Cheers brother. I got to see this live. But he stopped playing it on the subsequent tours I saw. A lot of people cover this. Seems to me that this was Clapton at his peak as a guitar player. Wonderful playing in every sense of the word.
Teachering id agree.. his best ever lead playing without a doubt.
Nope he peaked on that album, I saw him live when it was released and he was better then this
Pinnacle years from 92 to 2002. His from the cradle years and shows were his mountain top.
Oh I still love this song!
Love those lace sensors on the EC signature Stratocaster!
Steve Ferrone on the drums! That man right there can make any song stand out that much more with him in the pocket.
justincredible214 Bass ain't too shabby either.
I took notice!
He’s phenomenal!
Yep and let's also remember the legendary Nathan East on the basement what a career he's had playing with people like Clapton and others and he can walk down the street with no one knowing who he is
His bass player is right in the groove as well !!!!
Has always booked Albert Hall after he came off the sauce early 90s. Seen him Birmingham 86.class playing.superb nite. Different gravy.
Love his music, one of the best.
Just brilliant. Eric at his best!
For my money, there is no better guitarist out there!
he is not only the greatest guitarist alive he is also too handsome... I Salute You Mr Clapton because you're simply the best man
This crew he is playing with is awesome
This song and the Journey Man album is fantastic. My comment is about the guitar. I was so fortunate be given by my parents a Fender Stratocaster American Standard with the same Lace Sensor pickups as the Eric Clapton model. I did sell it and regret that to this very day. God bless Eric Clapton!
I have it.
That snare drum makes a statement!
Favorite "Surf's Up" Music!! Superb!!
Absolutely stunning🎸🎶🎵🎤🥰
Guitar genius!!!Some persons must live forever!!
He was in his groove at this time period, ran into him at Manny's Music in New York back in the 70's.
I just finished serving in the corp.(83-91).. hurricane Andrew came to florida.this album and leppards adrenalize made the Caine a lil easier.. semper fi
One of the very best ever...❤❤❤❤
Legendary ♥️
Awesome.love it
tore the roof off royal albert hall!
solorsix just a guitar God having fun don't you think?
solorsix he basically owns the place
2024, Clapton is still God 🎸
yes
him and late Jeff Beck.
He was in a bad way here.
I usually don't like live performances, but damn this was EPIC!!!
It was Eric, bro)
The guitar god himself..Mr clapton.
AWESOME!!!! ;-)
That's some good music 🎵
I didn't know this song was so old. Where have I been?!
Halleyscomet55 being alive I hope 😂
Clapton once credited Carl Perkins' vocal influence on his own singing style. "Mr. Blue Suede Shoes" influence shows in this performance.
love how they command the stage- tight knit group, even with guest players
Those guest players are not only amongst the absolute best session players in the entire world ever, yet they know Eric inside out and have played with him many times and they're good friends
Look, it's Clapton. We all know he's the GOAT with the six string, but no compliments on his hair on this one?
@ Michael Olin Gorgeous like the rest of him!!! Always loved his hair long. He is beautiful. Sa-woon.
He was sooo hot in the 90's
Absolutely, his hair is as legendary as his guitar guitar skills🎶🎵🎸🎤
@@michaelolin2219 I adore Eric Johnson too. Love them both😍🎸
I was at this concert well one of them he use to do about ten nights. Great night
martin dunn 24 nights to be precise!! and yes I was at the royal Albert hall1990/1991. Eric. George Harrison.Phil Collins.ray cooper.Andy fair weather low chuck leavell.
Un chitarrista con la C ...maiuscola super, extra, megagalattico!!!
Nathan East... that SMILE!!!!
he's the best
MUCH better than the ‘Official Video’
My only "criticism" of this is, please leave more of the audience sounds on at the end... they were ready to EXPLODE, and that's part of the Live experience!!! Thanks for the video!!
That the royal Albert hall crowd. Very respectful to slowhand music. Glad he still plays there all these years. He seems at home there.
He played with more intensity through out this entire album💋💋
Eric's live performances are mostly EPIC!
Hundreds, if not thousands of bootleg recordings that I have say so :-)
MAGNIFICO
Royal Albert Hall makes
it better for all.
Such a smoking version of this. Wow
Saw him at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse NY...he wore a white suit with a red guitar...this was the opener....he is a dude
