Sometime in 1986, I was 12 years old and found a lost 'Money & Cigarettes' cassette tape in a laundromat while I was with my family. I took it home and put it in my Sony Walkman. I loved it ever since. I am now 46.
I found out about this just now watching Knight Rider.

This is the epitome of an underrated & underplayed song. 🎵
Slow Hand, the greatest ever.
It's indeed a great song. One of Clapton's best. But I don't agree about underrated/underplayed. This thing struck in the early 80s. It was a hit in several countries and remained continuously on the airwaves back then. Clapton has other bigger hits and then you compete with a bunch of British rock giants. You get my drift.
My wife is a huge E C fan! This is her favorite song! She definitely has a R N R heart❤!
You're a lucky man
Heard this song in a Knight Rider episode! My dad and I can confirm that the 57 Chevy Bel Air is a gorgeous looking car!
Lol... me too!!
A Knight Rider episode Wow!!! Seems like an odd juxtaposition…but 👍🏼
This is one of my favorite songs ever by anybody!
Hello Susan
How are you doing?
Compliment of the season, thanks for being an amazing fan and for following through all this year.
Love from a fan like you keep me going.
It's nice meeting you here ❤️!
I'm 56 and I have always loved this song since I was young.
Since my Jr year in 1983
Same here 57 in March
"all you gotta do is lay it down and you lay it down good!" LOVE IT
Is Eric Clapton a legend? Yes!
I'm 40yrs old and just found this beauty. Takes me back to childhood in the 80s hearing my dad playing it on his stereo. Good times🇺🇲
Just saw Clapton in pitts last night! Most amazing concert experience EVER!
Going to see him in Denver Saturday. Can't wait
I've seen him twice. Such a great show! ❤️
Rest in peace, Legendary drummer Roger Hawkins. In the Early 80s, Erivc called on Roger to come out of semi retirement to play on the record. Clapton's mama didn't raise no dummy and the song was a hit, as usual. Rest in peace, Roger. The Shoals is already missing you and so are all fans of GREAT music.
Love this song. Was roaming the earth in my favorite Pontiac with my learner’s permit when I heard it. It became an instant staple. It could be my fave Clapton for sentimental reasons.
Great memory!
Love this song a lot. Perfect to put on in the open highway, in between some old school country, heartland rock, and the Eagles.
Yeah.
I hate the fucking Eagles man
2 YEARS AFTER ERIC CLAPTON HAD A HIT WITH “I CAN’T STAND IT” AND AN ULCER PROBLEM, HE RETURNS WITH “ I’VE GOT A ROCK ‘N ROLL HEART”. TOP 10 CLIMB STARTED 40 YEARS AGO THIS WEEK.
KENNETH HUANG 2/18/23.
I always thought this song was called "57 Chevy" 😂 . I even searched for it using that name. I also had no idea it was a song by Eric Clapton!
in the late 60's, early 70's we considered him the best guitarist, period.
+Alfred Barrett 60's, 70's,80's,90's,00's.10's, and God willing 20's...
When asked how it felt to be considered the best guitarist Clapton responded "Ask Prince"
Still do.
Jimi?
Alfred, I named the baddest 5 guitarists of all time. Well here it goes! At number 5 Paul McCartney. Falling in at number 4 is Eddie Van Halen with his encouraging words in "Right Now" and "Sitting in top of the World". What a great band anybody can produced. 3, Prince he's a all time classic, yeah he pulled off some strings throughout the years. It's sad that he left us all without saying anything. Number 2! Were closing in on the count. Number 2, Neil Young! From Crosby, Stills and Nash! Now this is a team that's a force to be reckoned with. By any chance if any you guys have a great chance and run into a Crosby, Stills and Nash sit down and listen to it. You'll have the greatest time of your life just by listening to the "Southern Cross", "Carry on" and "Just a song. Come on everybody, ease up and buckle down and jam out. Get ready for the drum roll all in attendance! The last but least especially for the number 1 owner and recipient and still rocks the world, our remaining champ, Eric Clapton! The best of Elite of the Elite! We all know his albums!
Right at this moment I can promise you the world!
This younger generation is going to have to their research on the greatest music and Clapton is just that! Going back to his early days with the Roosters and the Yardbirds
Feels like we're falling into the arms of the night...
in the late 60's, early 70's we considered him the best guitarist, period.
Eric Clapton could sing the phone book and it would sound superb! I love to hear him sing
underrated Clapton album ... One of my favorites
never underrated, except by a couple of music critics back in '83....
This album came out in 1984 , it’s for sure underrated ,not for forgotten
Clapton showed his highwater mark early in his career. People say he fell off or What happened? Nothing happened except the ego was always under control. He would follow guest guitarist sitting in. Made JJ Cale a little wealthier than before. Put out Pop songs and has stayed relevant in the 60's- '20's
This is a great song. Idk why it doesn't have more views.
Love that Tulsa Sound via Clapton. Brings back fond memories...
oldwest517 living on Tulsa Time ❤️
Sound like someone like Don William that ok it a line dance song
@@stevewright4092 Clapton likes Don Williams.
He has done at least one DW cover.
I doubt anyone can listen to this and not feel great. I was 2, this is almost 40 years old and still holds true. I got it rock and roll.
All Skate!!! This song is all about my favorite things in the world!
This song reminds me of being on the front porch with my dad, he was teaching me how to strip paint off the bathroom door. My dad loves this song, when it came on he yelled "turn this up, this is a JAM" and then sang and danced to it for all the pedestrians to enjoy. He is the coolest guy I know!
YES!! Your dad was COOL! My mom hated loud music too. BUT when I played THIS song my mom told me to TURN IT UP!! We need to relish these memories.
Give your dad a hug & kiss for me. XOXO
Sounds like my dad. I grew up on Hall and Oates, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppling, etc. Hop in the car early morning to visit family and pops would crank Voodoo Child to wake us up. Good man.
Your Dad is a Badass!
Gotta love our daddies, showed us the good stuff
A 3 time hall of famer
I've a rock N'roll heart
A true master piece
Hard to believe this Clapton tune came out forty years ago!
Eric Clapton is Unique one of a Kind the greatest, best Jammer,s of all times.
I’d totally forgotten about this song. I wonder why I never hear it on on classic radio. Love it!
In 1984, once a week I use to drive from Poulton-le-Fylde to Lancaster(UK) along those beautiful English country roads . This is what I listened to....Money and Cigarettes.... every Monday. Those were wonderful times.....just me and EC.... thanks for posting.....☮ ♥ ♫
Hippie's are the best
Hippie Chick koo
Got my first deal kiss dancing to this song
The way they've mixed this song it's a little thin to play loudly. It sounds much better at lower volumes, IMO. It's an intimate style he's singing in.
Brit Hippie Chick! You Rock! Greetings to you from across the pond!
i have my husband to thank for bringing this song in my life.
He told me I would get hooked on this song sure enough I did all thanks to him.
Beautiful Masterpiece from 3 time Hall of Famer Eric Clapton
Awesome this music never dies remember this when it 1st came out geez I'm old
Great tune and album. I bought it when it released, long time ago!
What gets me is Eric's greatest Fan was a Black Man from Seattle that went all the way to England just to tell him that. AND THE REST IS HISTORY.. ;)
Yep,Jimi was approached by his manager Chas Chandler about moving to England. Jimi's response was will I get to meet Eric Clapton? So you are RIGHT! By the way your comment is one of the greatest I have ever heard. Rock on brother.
Yup. Good music has nothing to do with color. Some of Eric's best friends were black too. Buddy guy, Albert and B.B. were close to him just as much as one of my favs Stevie Ray Vaughn. I'm black and think Eric has been good since he was with the Doobie Brothers in San Jose. Lol. Real artist with real talent singing his own written heart felt music. They don't make artist like this anymore naturally. Now they build them like cars at a GM factory. Ride on guys and make sure you play this atleast 2 more times then move the living room furniture to make enough room to slow dance with your woman to Wonderful Tonite by Eric next.
Jimi...... died way too soon. If legends like him we're still alive and B.B. all the great blues guy with a few rock and rollers all playing together for a good old fashion super show would be great for this country right about now.
@Carolyn Ekuka well Rock on, Rock on. Lol. We can both play this song and we all will be connected.
He went there to show Eric up and that's what he did lol
I can’t play this song loud enough. I love it
Still gets me! ❤🌻❤
Hello Theresa
How are you doing
Thanks for your love, support and for been an amazing fan!❤️
It's nice meeting you here
First heard this in Feb, 1983...while digging out of a snowstorm somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic states. Brings back memories. Thx. for posting.
Probably my favorite EC song. Thanks for posting!!
"Here's what you're gettin' and I don't wanna change
I don't want to change.....
I get off on 57' Chevy's
I get off on screamin' guitars
Like the way it kicks me, every time it hits me
Don't need no glitter, no Hollywood
All you got to do is lay it down and you lay it down good"
Love this one and also Promises.
One of Eric’s best albums ! Fact ! If not the best !
Nobody can touch him, he is the best!
fantastic😂
>i>>>
HOW about JUNIOR BROWN 409 with the beach boys for a cut :)
Very true
Watch Carl Perkins and Friends. George Harrison and Clapton shine
Always makes me smile and think of you... ;)
"I've Got A Rock 'N' Roll Heart"
I've got a feeling we could be serious, girl;
Right at this moment, I could promise you the world.
Before we go crazy, before we explode,
There's something 'bout me, baby, you got to know,
You got to know.
[Chorus:]
I get off on '57 Chevys;
I get off on screaming guitar.
Like the way it hits me every time it hits me.
I've got a rock and roll, I've got a rock and roll heart.
Feels like we're falling into the arms of the night,
So if you're not ready, don't be holdin' me so tight.
I guess there's nothing left for me to explain;
Here's what you're gettin' and I don't want to change,
I don't want to change.
[Chorus]
I don't need to glitter, no Hollywood,
All you got to do is lay it down and you lay it down good.
[Chorus]
Nice music track with excellent tuning of guitar pl by Eric Clapton...may be greatly enjoyed in open highway or country road.
good song but it would take longer for everybody(& new generations) to learn just how good Eric was at coming up with new tunes & getting good musicians together. Love him for that!
+MrZootalores There is no explaination! Im 31 and was raised listening to Clapton and wouldnt have it any other way! Im now repassing it on to my kids and bringing them up listenin to Clapton & friends...
@@BrickAcurra 21 here, still rocking in the free world 🤟🎸
Sometime in 1981, I was 13 years old & found…

underrated Clapton album ... One of my favorites
Probably the most under-rated Eric Clapton song. I absolutely fell in love with it in the 1980s and I am still loving it!!
I would argue Lay Down Sally.
Classic rock song, imagine listening to this while driving a classic, restored 1957 Chevrolet.
Eric Clapton
"I've Got A Rock "N" Roll Heart"
#18, 1983.
Recorded at Compass Point Studios in Nassau Bahamas, after his first alcohol rehab....Beautiful song.
So good song it makes me so happy
Feels like we're falling into the arms of the night...
This is my favorite country music song
I feel like I remember hearing this song on country stations and not rock stations when I was a kid
very cool n very smooth hit😉
Enjoying listening in "down under" Perth WA 👍
I've Got A Rock N'roll Heart. Awesome song, brings back some crazy emotions, lots of Claptons songs seems to do this.
I am an OB and this song is definitely one of my all-time top 3. I have no idea why this song was not a bigger hit. Amazing song!!
This and Lay Down Sally are my favorites of Eric Clapton's
Awesome classic song...Eric Clapton Rocks.

Love this song and can’t understand why it didn’t get more mass appeal. It’s really a catchy tune.
I still remember when it was in the top 40 countdown...there were just a lot of catchy songs back then that edged it out for the top spots. I loved it then, forgot about it for a while, and re-found it.
i love me some clapton. grew up in a house where his music was played. love it
From this album "The shape you're in" and "Ain't going down" are the best.
Love this vibe 🎸🎶💙

When I was a teen, blasting heavy metal, my mom would burst in my room & say, "Turn it down! This isn't music! It's NOISE!" But when I played THIS song on full volume, my mom would burst into my room & yell, "I LOVE THIS SONG!" I love you, mommy!
thanks for sharing your story
Thank you. Truly. XOXO
I feel you there, Neely, my mother, God rest her soul, loved a lot of the 80's music, but, she wasn't big on Rock-n-Roll, however, I went out and bought the album by G-n-R "Appetite For Destruction" and when she heard the song "Sweet Child O' Mine".... she had me turn my stereo up "full/blast".....and, we rocked out.... that was so awesome!! But, my mother loved Eric Clapton as well, and this song, too, if we were in the car, and this song came on, everyone within a 5 mile radius heard the song, too!! :) ..... Love, Light and Peace to you all.... .
I love Eric Clapton tooo. He is agreat singer. so true

What a great feel good tune!
Heard this on a jukebox in exchange cafeteria in Grafenworh, Germany. Before it was played on Armed Forces Radio Berlin or Nuremberg.
After all soft adventures I still have a weakness for this old blues gambler 🎸👍
