- So we got a call for a Ford F-150, but I didn't have my Jeep "Banana" available so I took my hook truck up some rough terrain.

"I'm sure you do this all the time"
Randy: "...sure!"
😂😂😂😂😂
Lol
He's a top man, never let on.
He just had to get that comment on his first towing job, lol
That small delay and the "Sure!" after deciding the customer was better off not knowing made me laugh so damn hard
Randy is a freaking legend for showing up when everyone was busy to take on a task that he normal just films. Not to say he’s incapable because he clearly isn’t. For being alone and on the spot he killed it. You got some good folks around you Matt!
This comment NAILED IT !!!!
@@michaelfritsch4027 I 2nd that!
you learn from watching and being around it. Theres someone that drifts professionally and he's had the same editor for years. He finally decided to let the editor drift one of his cars and the editor just got in and with no training started drifting the car likes he's been doing it for years.
I’m from the future. He has been sacked.
Randy is the recovery guy we didn’t know we needed! That scene of him leading the RZR with the recovery rope was like a horse being led 🤣 Randy the towing whisperer 🤔
How about when he was drifting the Jeep up hill, that was pretty impressive
Customer: "How many times have you done this?"
Randy: "Counting this time?"
“I’ve watched a LOT of training videos.”
@@MrK133n Correction: "I've filmed a lot of training videos" lol. I mean, how hard can it really be, right? ;)
10:02 Customer: “I’m sure you do this all the time” Randy: “Sure...” 😄
“Sure!” Mumbles under breath “I watch it done all the time. That counts as far as they know...”
Randy has some wheeling skills! The side drift up the dune was impressive!
They were raised in the off road mecca of Zion national park. They have been wheelin' since they were teens probably. The recovery part is just a way to make money doin what you love.
I agree he drifts like Ken block
Plot twist: they got stuck on purpose just to meet Matt and Matt doesn’t show up 😂
Damn Randy...that slide in was legit.
That was some smooth driving for his first recovery (unless he did it completely by happenstance).
I'm just gonna call Randy "the Natural" from now on, because he handled that first solo recovery pretty well.
..pretty? perfect!
There is the logo for the new shirt. Randy pulling a Razor by hand😂
So, what you're saying is that Randy is more than a handsome cameraman?
@@rosscollins2910 Or Randy pulling the rope with 'I don' need no stinkin' Yellow Banana'.
I doubt it was his first.
Congrats to Randy on his first Solo Call. Good Work.
literally, a solo job. he doesn't need the jeep too. :D
@@Captain_Obvious6 Randy can lift it with his bare hands :-)
Customer "he ran over the rope!"
Randy " you're not supposed to run over the rope!"
😂😂 Good job Randy, you nailed that recovery.
I've had my CDL for 29 years, your floating the gears just fine. You'll know you doing it wrong when you call one of your own trucks to come rescue you!
Absolutely... You are floating them in, and a clutch isn't needed when you shift that way. Down shifting either. However when pulling a load or pulling uphill, isn't such a good idea unless you over-Rev a couple 100 rpms. You're fine.
Haha noticed super quick! Matts a great driver. There’s another vid where he’s floating a customers jeep who’s clutch went oht
Clutch pedal? What's that? OHHHHH! You mean the START pedal! You just need it for starting out...
Beat me too it (by 7 months) lol
Clutch pedal is only needed for starting and stopping...and (situation pending), not even then.
10:03- person stuck: “I’m sure you do this all the time” randy: *uncomfortable laugh* “SURE!”😂
That was hilarious 😂
"Well, I film people doing it all the time, so no problem" lol! But he did great!
“Huge rock!”
“How far?”
“6 feet!”
“Why you yellin then?”
😂😂😂
I died at that part 😂😭💀
... they never find a parking space.
Should make a shirt to give out that says, "I ran over the rope."
Randy, that was superb! You are a total one-man army, driver, weatherman, recovery crew, customer service and you even pull the rope - in fading light and total darkness at the end. Great job and also Great Job to the camera lady!
“Randy doesn’t need a Jeep” - LMAO
that going to be on a tee..

i've said it before and i'll say it again. shout out to randy for jumping right in and taking care of things even if its not in his job title he did a fantastic job on his first solo recovery. mans come a long way from getting yelled at for helpin out lmao
My take on it was Randy got in to trouble because he isn't an employee, he is a contractor for Matts youtube channel, and therefore is not covered under Matts insurance. I guess this (edit: means not makes) means Randy is an employee now?
which video did he get yelled at for helping?? i think i missed that episode, thank you in advance!
Randy just wanted an excuse to get out of the movie with his parents
@@kyle_throws_tools haha, hey I love my parents, and I like John Wayne!
Dang Randy. That's some serious driving to get in position for recovery. Well done!
Hey I love seeing Randy out on the jobs! Always got a smile and a great attitude!
Matt, you seem a bit stressed out because some people think they know better. Just keep doing what you do - We (the 437.000 subs) wouldnt be here if we didnt thoroughly enjoy you as a person and your work! :)
Randys solo recovery was pretty wholesome with the woman offering to film. He did really well, especially in the dark, hats off to you!

I remember when Matt kept getting upset with Randy over him helping on the recoveries. How the tides have changed! Now Randy is doing every job! From exploring ahead like the dogs to the whole recovery (while filming)!!! XD
So true 🤣🤣
Do we see a raise coming his way?
Yeah, I thought Randy "didn't work for Winder Towing"!
Good job Randy!, it wasn't hot at night. Those people were very nice. The lady did a very good job of filming the recovery. Matt is lucky to have you. You also do a great job with the videos. Have fun, and stay safe out there.

“A translator appeared out of nowhere” 😂😂😂
Lmao I was laughing at that part.
haha jesus, prob he is from mexicali, its not close but im just saying xd
@@wotblitzlatam5883 Wait, were are this guys working at if a person from mexicali appeared out of nowhere? lol
He was behind the rock.
What was the story about the translator guy where was he from?
I worked in engineering for Exedy (we make clutches other drivetrain parts for almost every manufacturer) and you're not doing anything to hurt the transmission or clutch. These trans don't use synchros, and if you're float shifting as long as it isn't making any noise and you're not having to strain to get it in gear it's fine.
I hope he sees this!
I've always wondered why heavy trucks don't have synchros (without ever looking into it too much) so since an expert is here I'll ask! I imagine it's a durability issue?
Synchros are more parts, more weight, more sh*t to break. If yer a good driver, control your RPMs,, match and shoot, it's easy (albeit w practice!). Truth tho, the bigger the diesel engine, the larger the forgiveness in RPM range for floating er in (larger engine larger flywheel, more mass). Smaller is harder as you need more precision.
@@SPD_driver interesting, thanks
@@jacobmiller6664 It's mostly an American thing now. Many European commercial manufacturers have been using synchros for years. It does add weight but it's minimal. I suspect a large part of it due to what people are used to working with. Now many commercial outlets are switching to autos in the US so it might go straight there from the current crashboxes. Some people who have driven both prefer one or the other. People will try and say a crashbox is harder but that's bogus, both are easy enough to drive. I'm not a commercial driver, but for the ones I have experience with I prefer the newer synchro trans; Volvos new model shifts butter smooth. That may partly be because I prefer to use the clutch as the engineers intended 😆. So no they are not designed to be float shifted, it's just possible by design.
RECOVERY RANDY = APPROVED✅

@@tom_thumb I prefer govorim srpski, or ne govorim engleski. LOTS of know at least rudimentary Spanish in America, at least enough to get through that embarrassing discussion. Far fewer know Serbian, and exponentially less likely to find someone that knows Serbian AND is devoid of a "foreign" accent, thus unlikely to get caught not being fluent myself/yourself.

Randy on his first solo recovery proves he doesn't need a crew, doesn't need the Jeep, doesn't need to hold the camera, and barely needs the rope.

Heck Randy got skills, Matt, your fired...
Awesome Randy! Getting paid twice...💸💸😂
Well there you go. The Matt's Off-road Recovery cameraman is also an expert at off-road recovery. It figures.
And the customer is pretty handy with a camera.
He has watched Matt do it a fair few times (and he did some work videoing Casey too).

Unimog would be awesome
@Wave Dancer depends on wich model.

Man I'm saying he should get a 99-04 grand cherokee.
Matt. I would take shifting advice from a dude with a beard like Abri's
On shifting that truck, go to red line in 3rd gear strait to "R" which is race gear....
I got a custom shifter made for my fiat. 6 R gears instead of 1-5 + R. Full race mode 100,000 ponies to each wheel.
Randy is a beast! He definitely watches to learn instead of just watching to film. As the customer said, Randy's a pretty smooth driver himself. You guys have an awesome team at Winder. I'd like to have just one employee half as good as you guys.
Matt is getting everyone trained and pulling people out!! Go Team!
Matt, since you don’t need to hear this, here it is: your shifting is fine.
Best part of Randy’s recovery was his laugh at the very end!
Shift looks great! Years of commercial driving and I wish half my buddies were that smooth and quiet with the stick.
Randy! He understood the assignment! Great job filming and recovery. He so smooth, he pull em out by hand!
Randy, You are awesome! Lady customer did a good job with the camera!
"You do this all the time!" "Sure!"
My wife and I both belly-laughed at that one.
Love the camera lady commentary! How nice for her to film!
The thing I’ve learned about social media, especially RUclips, everyone’s an expert...and they are so fast & quick to jump on you and tell you how wrong you are. They don’t allow you to do things your way...heaven forbid!! My favorite part is when they argue amongst each other!! 🤣🤣
Kudos Randy 👍

"What are you yellin for then!?" That was hilarious. This channel is just perfect ha ha ha
Randy's off road recovery
"Randy doesn't need a jeep" Hahaha Good job Randy!
Matt , most of the ' experts ' criticising your shifting are trying to impress someone because they can drive a manual/stick shift ..
And FFS , even the Tesla driving , freelance camera guy can drive off-road better than a lot of people
Who knew Randy had such driving skills. Good job on the solo recoveries.
The DeLorean had the wheel flip down feature way back in the 80's. It took Ford Long enough to catch up.
and chevy still hasnt
@@f.dt.f3965 Good thing
Its gotta be all 4 wheels or it don't count.
I seem to remember that it had to be going like 88 mph or something like that.
I kept thinking we were being tricked when Randy was doing that job, haha. That was pretty cool that he was able to do all that alone!
The clutch is for starting and stopping, not shifting. Go Matt.
I wouldn’t dream of giving driving advice to guy that literally drives on and off road for a living. What’s wrong with people? Something about keyboard confidence, I suppose.
like we know better - right? Lmao - I have huge respect for Matt and the gang at Winder , they know a lot and when something knew happens they always find a way -thats ingenuity ! When something doesn't work out well they show that too because experience in life is the greatest knowledge there is and thats humble !
Only flak I ever gave him was I could believe he didn't carry a shovel at first. lol. Sure you can get by without it but it might save you from a major body scrub at the end of the day.
But then dealing with sand nots like dealing with mud and snow all day.
That being said theres nothing like seeing the tow truck driver at minus 30. AAA/CAA is worth every penny IMO.
Matt did a great job! Slow and easy on roads like that - why else would he get called out ? People driving too fast for the conditions - done off road (winter roads) for years and it's usually the speedy drivers who have issues
When the guy said to Randy I'm sure you do this all the time..... Well about that
I have been towing for more than 40 years and I like 👍 Matt's work
Well done Randy, you have been promoted to recovery, no more behind the camera.
Yeah way to go Randy!! So interesting to see those solo runs; especially without Matt! Everyone handles the recovery a little differently and your personalities are so great!

I can definitely stay awake long enough to watch this! 👍🏻 Just got home from graves!
I love it when people think that not using the clutch is wrong 😂 I've been driving big rigs for years and I never use the clutch driving down the road. First initial gear forward, and reverse.
Also, good job Randy!!! 👍🏻 That was super exciting to see a solo run with Randy.
Love them Fuller gear boxes!
I was asleep and this autoplayed, woke up to some off roading gold.
I drove a Frightliner as a young man. Clutch went out while I was hauling rolls of fencing. When I had to stop,, the engine would stall. The starter would move the truck in gear to get me going again. Once moving, no more need for the clutch. If you are at the right speed, changing gears is easy.
Att. Matt ; That was a spectacular tow, driving, and shifting. Been a truck driver for 40+ years. Never wrecked or ruined a transmission yet. Every transmission and driver has a sweet spot to make a transmission mesh with the engine. And I have driven some sloppy ass transmissions clutching or not clutching . Att Randy .
