    Another question... so a concern I've not found a lot of info on whether you can use a hybrid (Coil) mattress on an adjustable bed frame... ? If you can is there something we need to look for specifically combining the 2 ? Thx

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  2 года назад

      Hi Stephanie. Great question. The answer? It depends. Most of the hybrid mattresses we've reviewed can be used on an adjustable base. However, some traditional innerspring mattresses made with connected coils (rather than pocketed coils) cannot be used because they have a heavy steel wire that runs all around the perimeter of the mattress at the top and at the bottom -- and that wire can't be bent.
      The best way to check if a bed is compatible with an adjustable base is to check their website. Most brands tell you straight up if it's adjustable-base compatible, and many of them actually sell an adjustable base of their own. It takes a little more digging, but that info can usually also be found in the warranty, where they'll talk about what kind of base needs to be used with the bed.
      In our video reviews we always talk about adjustable-base compatibility, and we test mattresses on our own adjustable base too.
      Thanks for the question!

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  3 года назад

      Hi Tami. We haven't looked at that particular model. But we can tell you that it's probably made by another company for Denver Mattress -- that's true of most store 'house' brands. So as such, it's likely comparable in performance to other adjustable bases of other brands. It does looks a lot like the Nectar base we review here, though I can't be certain.

    Do adjustable bases have a safety mechanism so if you start using it and a pet or overly curious little grandchild climbs on it or gets underneath the base will stop and not crush them? Or are they made where things really can't get crushed? I know odd question but I have had a lot of strangeness in my life lol :D Happy Memorial Day weekend!

      Hi Angelia -- Thanks for your comment, and sorry for the technical issue you're having with your base. FWIW, the request from Nectar's customer service team does make a lot of sense to me in this case since one of the most likely explanations for why it would have stopped working is if one of the wires got disconnected somehow. Seeing a picture of the bottom that shows all the wiring would help them assess what needs to be done to solve this.
      I hope that's helpful.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  3 года назад +4

      Hi and thanks for the question. We can't know definitively how long this or any adjustable base will last. But this one does have an unusual 50-day trial period -- most adjustable bases are not returnable at all. It also has a three-year warranty on the steel parts, and a one-year warranty on the electronics/motor.
      Overall, we feel these units are built to last. We use a different model for our mattress testing and it's been going strong for 4 years.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 года назад +1

      Hi there -- thanks for the comment. Adjustable bases tend to have a lot of similar features, and both the Nectar and the Classic Brands base have all the main ones: several presets, USB ports, head/foot massage. Both had wireless remotes. So on a features basis, they are indeed very similar.
      As for the shipping issues at Nectar, we have been hearing similar stories across the board -- COVID-19 has disrupted the entire supply chain as well as shipping. Some companies seem to be doing better communicating to customers about those delays, and some are not. Glad you got your mattress and hopefully you had something to sleep on in the meantime!

    My husband is tall and I noticed your feet hang over. How long is the queen bed

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Год назад

      It's designed to fit a Queen sized mattress, which is typically 60" x 80" inches. Mike (shown in the video) is 6'0" tall, so he is at the tall end for a queen size bed but can generally sleep in a queen size without any problems. That said, when the mattress is elevated, it does tend to feel a little shorter. So if you plan to use your mattress on an adjustable base, you may want to opt for slightly more length than you'd otherwise need. I hope that's helpful.

    Mike I've looked at a number of your adjustable bed reviews and you never mention where they are made. I for one prefer to know my bed is manufactured in the USA as opposed to China or Taiwan. I would also like to see you add the degrees of adjustment, I have seen some beds that allow for 70 degrees of head adjustment and some only in the upper 50s, a big difference. And in a case like Nectar that doesn't manufacture the base, who is making it.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  3 года назад +1

      Hi -- and thanks for the comment. You make a great point -- when we review mattresses, we always mention where they are made. But we usually don't for the bases, so we'll take note of that in the future. Same for the degrees of elevation.
      As you have guessed, many adjustable bases are made by other companies rather than the one whose name they bear. Nectar does not publicly say who manufacturers their bases, but it's definitely imported--Nectar says from either Taiwan or India.
      Hope that's helpful -- and thanks again for the suggestions.

And you can also save up to three custom settings -- that allows you to put the base in whatever position you like, then save it, so that at the touch of a button, you can return to that position.
