I’m a Bangladeshi and I had followed your recipe to cook Soup Joumou for the first time this New Year for my husband, who’s a Haitian, and he loved it! The only things I did a bit differently were:
    I used both the squashes.
    Added one more maggi cube.
1 more tbsp of tomato paste.
I chopped up the parsley and celery leaves and added them into the broth.
I let the thyme steam while floating on top of the broth to soften the leaves, and then took off the leaves and added them to the broth and discarded the twig portion.
My husband loved it and said it was authentic Haitian Soup Joumou! Thank you for sharing your recipe! :D
